@lister That’s a very kind offer, unfortunately I’m quite a way from Pembrokeshire I’m in West Yorks

@lister Thanks for the reply, I think I need to try one for size, I’m 5’10”

    Nice bike!

I’ve been looking at one for a while but unsure on the sizing, how tall are you and what size did you go for?

I’ve seen plenty of folk use a cardboard bike box as you describe to fly with easyjet, the only problem you may have is if the box gets wet while sat outside before it’s loaded on to the plane or sometimes airlines ask to check what’s inside or have you let your tyres down, maybe pop a roll of tape at the top.

    You should be fine

As above, its free, you’ll just need a lift pass if you want to watch the DH from higher up the hill, its also worth walking down the side of the track on practise day, you may see a few of the top riders sessioning different lines, which may make you feel rather inadequate as a rider 😀

I have a pair of Deemax that came fitted to a Mondraker Superfoxy, they’re bombproof!

The rims have a scratch resistant coating and it works a treat!

It’s all very well organised, there wasn’t much of a queue for the  Mont Chery lift in 2022, you may even get to meet a few riders, once out of the lift, riders turn left and pedestrians right to use separate chair lifts, no spectator tickets are required, there was a pop up bar half way down too 🍻

The XC was held around the trees at the bottom of Chavannes, easily accessible and again no tickets required.

We stayed in Morzine and there was a stream of free buses there and back, they were a bit of a squash on the way back 😄

    It’ll be fine!
I’VE used both DHR and  DHF for years on the rear around Calderdale and can’t tell the difference, although I’m just an average rider

If you don’t get good answers from the manager to give you confidence that they’re going to make it right, then it’s time to take it to someone competent get it properly repaired, and then claim the cost of doing that from the garage. I hope you paid by credit card, so you can dispute the charge. You may also need to go through the small claims court to get the money for getting a competent garage involved back off them

I would also take it somewhere else, Kwik Fit stripped a brake caliper bolt and used loctite to “repair” it on an Astra i had, I spoke to the area manager who agreed to foot the bill no question asked and also offered compensation, which i didn’t take, covering the repair and his apology was enough for me.

Does it have the bloody terrible Syntace hanger? I love Cotic and I quite like Syntace but those things are utter crap.

It is the syntace one, i agree, the bolt did its job and broke but i had to buy the whole hanger to get a new bolt.

@munrobiker Thank you for that, although it may just cost me £900 🙈

@nuke I haven’t bent or snapped one for ages then I broke two in quick succession on my BfeMax then my Mondraker Foxy, sticks in rear mechs both times, a few clicks online and replacements were in the post.

@nigew pretty sure all the current Nukeproof Frames use SRAM UDH (for better or worse) so 1) they’re easy and cheap to buy, 2) you’ll never need one because the frame will probably break or bend before the hanger. Looks like UDH from the product images too

I’m impressed with your confidence in the frames 😄😄

I think the Mega is UDH, the out of stock one for the reactor looks different

I’m tempted with a carbon Nukeproof Reactor frame but the lack of spare mech hangers is putting me off, does anyone know of an aftermarket supplier, i’ve taken a look at BETD, unfortunately they don’t list one

Chain reaction still have them, I realise they’re going through a bit of a tricky situation but took a chance and ordered a spare earlier this week, it turned up fine the following day

Most of it was open when i was there in late August, it’s harder and steeper than it looks!

I pushed up the fire road and rode down from the first road gap, not sure it was worth it though.

Velo solo sell one, i  bought one from their ebay shop to try a mullet set up on my super foxy, no redish required.

The kit worked fine, the mullet not so much  😄

The website doesn’t appear too good on a phone but they were very easy to deal with

It’s slightly cheaper if you book online and if there are 4+ in your group there is 10% discount when using one payment method.

Still reasonable though at 26 euro a day, an uplift is 35+ at most uk places now

If you want real terror, follow the black after the 10 Percent until you come to the wee tunnel. As soon as you exit the tunnel, turn right immediately before you go down the chute.

    Absolute death

Ha ha maybe save that for the last day, i took a friend down there whose a really good rider, he stopped and said what the **** have you brought me down 😈

It’s almost impossible to push down too. . . Can’t wait till August to ride it again

What companies do people use for insurance for a Morzine trip?

Ive used these a few times after recommendations on here, never had to use it though
    https://www.assurmix.com/sport-insurance/insurance-solution-sport-assursport
You can also buy insurance when you purchase your lift pass

This is definitely on the list. Is the Pleny red a good warm up to the black or would you skip it and go straight into it?

I feel that the red is harder than the black, try the blue to warm up and mix in with the off piste stuff at the side.

I bought a Mondraker Foxy from them , delivery was great, arrived on time in a large box, i only needed to turn the bars and add pedals.
6 months later i had a warranty problem with the frame, I returned the whole bike and it took 3 months to sort out, I had to resort to contacting Silverfish direct eventually who sorted it all out for me, they were the distributor.
When it cracked 3 years later I didn’t even involve Tredz!
No way would i buy another full bike off them!

Davros, you’ll be fine if you slow down and be right with folk, most of the moaners aren’t even local, they only moved to the area 20 yrs ago 🤣🤣
Think I’ll be around Hebden at some point tomorrow with a couple of friends, watch out for A midnight Smurf Pace, a Nomad and a trek remedy.
Weather looking good too, have fun 👍🏻

There are two little tweaks I would make, on Heights road after Midgley Rd watch for a track down to your left by a house as you leave the trees, head down there and push/ ride back up the bridleway to join Raw Lane, then on Lane Ends Lane pop down the bridleway to your left by Dodnaze and bag a few snapped spokes on the rocks and back up Sandy Gate at the bottom.
Remember quite a lot of that ride is on Cheeky stuff on a sunny Saturday, don’t piss off any one walking for us locals to deal with later 😉

I’ve just swapped from a 2018 Cotic Bfe to the latest Pace 627, they ride quite differently to each other!
The Pace is fast on twitchy singletrack but the lower bb is taking some getting used to, I’ve had a lot of pedal strikes on Rocky terrain, I’m going to try some shorter cranks.
The Cotic felt more confident on steep techy trails and rarely had pedal strikes.
I swapped all the components over from the Bfe inc the 140 forks
Both great bikes though which I know doesn’t help 😀

This doesn’t help your predicament but i had a tiny prob with my order and I got a good positive response at info@oneupcomponents.com they couldn’t have been more helpful

    Hope you get sorted.

Knew that I’d get a fix on here, cheers!
I presume that if I buy one for the actuator and lever if it’s screwed tight enough the cable won’t slip!

I have a 2018 Bfe, so not the latest version which I run with 140 forks around Calderdale, which has a mixed bag of riding terrain, it handles everything and never feel out of my depth on it, my skills probably hold it back ;-)
I haven’t done any epics on it, apart from canal bank cruising to meet up for rides rather than driving and it feels comfortable enough.
I built it as a second bike and seem to ride it more than my Foxy at the moment!

Have a look an Cotic’s website for the video of a Bfe being “sent” down A Line and Crabapple Hits in Whistler, that should make you want to buy one ;-)

    EDIT Here it is

I bought a pair about 3 months ago, they’re no where near as grippy as 5 10s, my feet bounce off on fast rocky descents and I feel as though the sole is too stiff.
I got them wet and while they dried quickly they stink like cat pee and have to live in the shed. I bought a pair of 5 10 Sleuth the
O Neal’s are that bad, I couldn’t find any Elements or Impacts at a sensible price in my size

Try turning the bike upside down, pushing the dropper down and then releasing, do this several times and it seems to sort the squish!
It was on the home page a few yrs ago
