This PDF published by Bicycle Retailer seems to tell all, though dated 2012 but no info on individual models and US based companies only.

Whatever you say the feedback system no longer works to find bad buyers only bad sellers which makes it very difficult to know how ‘safe’ your sale is. You simply don’t know if they have ‘probably done it before’ – how far back do you look back, we’re not all bloody detectives.

Have a look through his past feedback / items he’s recently bought through advanced search see if theres a trend….

Waste of time now a seller can’t leave negative or neutral feedback. Everything is geared to protect the buyer – sod the seller! 👿

If this thread is a mistake byou are supposed to edit the title to ‘Please ignore’ so that people can look and answer:

    Ignored.

    Ignored too.

    Definately ignored. Etc Etc

    You’re not playing the game!

Stick it up in the other thread for completeness.

I have real difficulty in getting my camera(s) to show the true flouro effect on mine when in the sun.

If it were me, I’d probably get an Octane One Zircus frame – £160 – bang on a ‘Zocchi DJ fork and build it up from there using bargain but good bits, 1×9 ditch the front mech. Cost a more but would be your own choices. But then I’m a 61 year old fat bloke so what do I know? 🙂

Some better components on the Hardy, at least its got Alivio vs Acera but both got XCM forks which are frankly rubbish.

Sheldon’s site was a goldmine for the retro stuff but lacking in more modern aspects and will stay that way now. The best info sites, whatever the subject matter, are usually the result of one man’s total dedication, rather than a conglomeration of other info from multiple sources.

I don’t really need a one site does all source as I like to conduct my own research and its all out there, but typical forum attitude is ‘I can’t be ar*ed to find out myself so I’ll bang up the question and someone will do it for me’.

The result of this is when a question is asked and there are 40 replies probably only 5 will be relevant and useful, 10 will be typical STW responses like ‘grass needs cutting, pebbledash needs sorting, slam the stem, wrong colour, you will die!’. The rest will be a mish mash of uninformed, biased 4th hand information not gleaned from personal experience. So sorting out the wheat from the chaff to compile useful info would be almost impossible.

Must admit that most of my research leads me back to the Park Tool site repair help section, which although biased for their own tools, is written by experts in the field (probably).

Let’s call it a maintenance accident rather than a riding accident. Pulling off the bicycle pump from valve, slipped and rammed my thumb into disc rotor. Half of thumb nail gone black, bloody painful (many expeletives uttered) but I didn’t cry. 😳

First few in built up area are not to my taste, last two a bit static looking, but the rest are great and certainly give the impression of movement. Panning is generally well done and some apply angles and diagonals which is always nice. Leave a little more space in front of the car to avoid the central subject on some of them. I don’t mind parts of the cars being a little blurred as it creates a feeling of rapid movement. Also a couple of shots going in closer and not including the whole car would add variety to a panel of pictures. If I was confronted with 10 images, printed to high quality, of this calibre I would be happy to award a merit or even a distinction to Level 2 City and Guilds in Image Capture provided the documentation is up to standard (the boring bit).

Sorry, I’ve just come home from a teaching session 😉

My Anthem started life as a 2011 X4 bought from Pauls Cycles early 2012 at £1100 or so. The only thing left of that bike is frame, forks and shock, rest has been upgraded with lots of carbon, Hope brakes and light wheels etc. Now weighs 24.5lb. Great bike, feels like its got launch control, really responsive and reactive.

As for forks, I like Fox rather than RS. The stanchion wear thingy seems a bit hyped up to me. Bit of occasional care (Fork Juice) works wonders.

Recently bought Wellgo B185 pedals for my lightweight build, not as light as those above at 320g/pair but easily available from CRC I think at a reasonable price. Grippy enough, well built and sturdy, without being total weight weeny fodder.

Reading the German mountain bike press I can’t help thinking the 9.9 version (Fox Fit, Marvic Crossmax) would of won the UK WMB ‘trail bike of the year’ if it had been available. It outscored the Giant Anthem in almost every category.

German Bike in German Bike test outscoring shock!

The fact that the Giant Anthem came second in the ‘Trail bike’ of the year test even though it is not a trail bike is quite a feat, shows how good it is and shows how poor many ‘Trail bikes’ are.

I have bought Fox T shirts in XL (my normal size for everything else) and they were quite baggy more like XXL. Don’t know about hoodys though but as your jersey was huge too I suspect most of their stuff is sized generously.

2 bikes here with I-beam posts and absolutely no problems, but then mine are Kore (one carbon and one alloy) and they have different twin bolt fixings rather than the single one of the SDG – which is why I chose them.

Yeah, I had a demo amp in Jam Guitars for a while.

No plans to sell the power amp I’m afraid. 🙁

Recon Gold solo air, I had one on a Summer Season (no longer have the bike) and they worked well and suited the frame. They were bought as 100’s but removal of the inner spacer (easy job) took them out to 120. Personally I wouldn’t have wanted the Summer Season any slacker than that and feel the idea of really long travel forks on a hardtail is a bit ridiculous. The Summer Season is just a slacker 456 and takes the same range of forks. The Recon Gold is a darned good performer considering it cost me £170 new and I still have it on another hardtail.

    @justinbieber

No way, Nigelb001 – do you run Mango? Lovely sounding amps.

Yep that’s me. 🙂 Thanks for the comment. Can I ask how you know my amps? Just a one man band here, my clientelle is very select. I’ve probably made as many amps in eight years as Marshall make in 10 minutes. 😉

Hifi power amp is a dual mono LM3875 chipamp using PCBs from Peter Daniels at Audiosector in US, which itself is based on the mythical Japanese 47Labs Gaincard. Built as an experiment as I didn’t really believe the internet hype about 47Labs but was very, very pleasantly surprised by the resolution and transparency of the amp. Now takes pride of place in my rack, I don’t need a better hifi amp whatever the cost, though I may build another one to bi-amp my PMC speakers.

Apart from being a bike enthusiast, I am also a music/hi-fi/guitar enthusiast and as I am an electronic engineer, I build most of my own stuff. Here are some bits I’ve made in the last few months.

Firstly a minimalist 50 watt/channel chipamp power amp. Sounds as though it should cost £1000 +

10 watt single ended valve guitar amplifier designed and built from scratch for a client.

Rubbish standover height on that bike.

Wierd how the wide angle lens from 12ft up makes everything else in shot look so tiny.

Isn’t the effect just like having a smaller rotor on the back, thus meaning it will be fine?

Or 4-pot on front, 2 pot on rear – which I do as well on another bike

My singlespeed has got v-brakes on front and caliper on rear. I haven’t died yet so you are even less likely to die with discs on front.

    Just do it!

Four bikes and I dread to think what I’ve spent on them all.

Main bike is Giant Anthem 2011 which I bought for £1200 in close-out last year. But I’ve spent around the same in upgrades – wheels, brakes, chainset and many other carbon bits, come to think of it the only original bits are frame, fork and shock!! So approx £2400-2500 but its light and brilliant for me and I love riding it.
