For that money i would be looking at the new Bird Aeris.

150mm travel and has a lowish leverage ration on the rear.

Set of Pikes with 3 or 4 bottomless tokens fitted will be good aswell

    Yes, be carefull with sizing.

using an XL with a 45mm stem.

    6ft 1.5

Large is 15mm shorter than the Large Nicolai i have..XL is 10mm longer,so using a shorter stem

I brought one about a month ago.

Its suprising how well it rides, seems fine to me on the steeper stuff.
I am running 140mm Revs on mine.
Its the bike i use 99% of the time now, I also have a Nicolai Ion 16 650b and this is rarely used.

One thing i did change was the Fox CTD Evo that came on the frame, Horrible shock,Either set up so it works on small stuff and it then bottoms out all the time, or set up to not bottom out made it not work on small stuff.Replaced with a Monarch RT3 and has transformed it.Also adding some Bottomless tokens to my Revs helped.

Been running 1×10 for a while

    30 with a 11-36 cassette.

I average 100ft of climbing per mile.

Summer will go back to a 32t front.

I find it fine,Have found no climbs i cant do that i could on a 2x system

I would avoid stages, Most of the people i know that have had them have had problems with them.

    Battery drain mostly

I found the Ass saver one not wide enough to do anything when running 2.35 tyres.Thats why i find the Mucky Nutz one better, its a lot bigger and seems to stop a lot more

Do a few bikes for CX racing at my work.

they also have at least one spare set of wheels and a spare bike

was over 16st now under 15st and riding a Nicolai Ion 16…

also have a Santa Cruz 5010.

needs a lower leverage ration i find for the larger riders.

You can have a custom Nicolai frame made with a dh length shock in it and only running 150mm travel,My mate has one and he is a big lad 🙂

I have had a Caddy van for the last 3 months.
    Its perfect.

Chuck my bike and all my stuff in the back, dont have to take any wheels off.

mine is the 2.0 sdi engine..not the fastest but 600miles on a tank full is ok..

Running 30t on both my bikes
    10-42 11 speed on my 160mm bike
    11-36 on my 125mm bike

i find it perfect and seems to put me in a straighter chain line when in the most used gears

i do spin out on a few sections..but these are dull sections so i dont care.

    32 for summer though
