Just booked a week in Saalback for next trip – went there earlier this year and its a great venue with good links to Hinterglem circuit for plenty of route options. Decent snow record too – would recommend this place if you haven’t been before and fancy a change.

On a side note, I have a Bonfire jacket for sale in classifieds.

Just want something that packs down small, doesn’t break the bank and can be worn for end of ride, ride stops and walks to pub when chilly

DWR would be handy but still for the price they look a bargain – is the Alpkit one DWR treated?

Thanks i think ill try one..ive made the front one from milk bottle took ten mins

No offence but that looks so rubbish! You look like you have a decent bike there judging by fox forks, surely worth £8 to buy the proper one that will look considerably better?

I’d get another spesh storm to make a pair if I was you as its more capable as an allrounder than the trailraker tyre which is really v mud specific

Will ride the loop clockwise as before I think as really enjoyed it last time and easier the second time around to find your bearings etc. Will also try to avoid going down the Jacobs Ladder footpath this time and look for the correct route

Oh and as above Jacobs on a hardtail is fun!

Got a Dyno jacket, its awesome, not 100% waterproof or windproof but very breathable so no ‘boil in bag’ moments. Nice enough to wear off the bike too

Says out of stock online – any similar ones available elsewhere of similar budget? Wouldn’t mind one for the boot to get worst of post-ride before loading in the car.

Happens quite often on local mixed use wooded trails – its often dog walkers who we have caught in the act a few times. Also found string tied between trees which is a bit harsh :?

I will soon have a Bike Star balance bike for sale, same as here – http://www.amazon.co.uk/30-5cm-Learner-Balance-Beginner-Sport/dp/B002W4HAWS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1345561708&sr=8-1

My 4 y.o. daughter used this for last few months and has since learned to bike so surplus to requirements. In excellent condition.

It’s a quality German built balance bike with proper tyres and a rear brake. Make me an offer if you’re interested before I post in ‘For Sale’ section soon – email in profile.

Ok, just wanted to check that something like the Joe Blow Sport would deal with both as I know the Joe Blow Mountain is MTB specific for example.

Taking it that the Lezyne Sport Floor Drive would be fine too then!

Thanks but it’s not the valve types I’m interested in as both are presta, but a pump thats capable of use on both types of tyre(they have different volume requirements MTB – High volume/low pressure and Road – High pressure/low volume).

You could go for a ‘mini pump’ like the Lezyne Alloy Drive or go for something like a Topeak Mountain Morph as said above which will pump up a tyre with much less effort IMO.

Difficult to look past a Boardman if buying from the UK or could check out offerings from Canyon or Radon in Germany. Personally wouldn’t buy second hand, though not saying if you’re careful and know what you’re looking for a bargain couldn’t be found.

So sorry to hear about your news and sincerest condolences. I lost my dad to that dreadful disease 10 years ago. He degenerated over 2 years which was awful to see as he went from being a strong, fit man to a frail and weak shadow of his former self. Got to be one of the cruelest diseases with their mind remaining completely normal but trapped in a body that weakens by the day.

Theres a fair few options within that budget and also a reasonable difference in specs too.

Do you want a hardtail or full suss? If its the latter you won’t find a great deal within that budget other than the Decathlon one mentioned above.

If its a hardtail, Boardman are hard to beat on a local level or could look at options from Germany such as Canyon or Radon.

Joe Blow Mountain Track Pump is very good for the money and within budget if you google it

Wouldn’t it be easier to just set the forum so new posts bump the thread back up to the top? Many adverts are relisted only days after they were originally post due to them moving down a few pages after a few days.

Ok cheers. I think I’ll try a couple of rides just in the middle ring to confirm before going ahead as got a trip to peaks soon which could prove interesting without small and large rings.

nickswolves, mikesmith is only half correct, there are other options you can use this chain device. £20 from superstar.
I forgot to mention, you will want to shorten your chain once you drop the other 2 rings.
Just run everything you already have unless its knackered, & when it is time to replace go either 11-34 or 12-36 depending on how you find the riding.

So to confirm, I could just go 1×9 by removing current front mech and front shifter, removing smallest and largest front rings, leaving the 32T middle ring, then just add SS chain device with seat tube mount and get some short chainring bolts?

Edited original post continuity and its def 11x32T (Halfords site said 12x32T which prompted me to check).

I’d go 1×9 first. 1×10 is a little better but if you can’t handle 1×9 then 1×10 won’t make enough difference to be good enough. Is your cassette an 11-32 or 11-34?

    I believe its a 11x32T cassette

if you don’t have ICSG tabs then you need a BB mounted Chain Device.

I have no idea, how can I check?

So not cheap then, sounds like I’d be better off staying with 3×9! Was expecting to need chain device, cassette and chain but naively forgot about shifter etc.

Fenwicks foaming degreaser works really well, especially with the chain sponge you can get to go with it. I personally think it cleans chains better than a chain bath.
