How about some padded 3/4 bib tights? Good for all but the warmest of weather if you choose well.

Depends if you need a chain tool included or not. If not, save yourself the money and take a look at something like the Park Tools AWS-10 – had mine about 7 years and still going strong! If you need a chain tool built in look at the Topeak Hex Mini 20 or Crank Brothers M19 for example.

It’s v simple…Take the length of velcro and wrap it around the leg of the fork, leave 30mm extra and cut. Cut the next bit the same length for the other leg. Then for the brace, again wrap the velcro round it and leave extra 20mm then cut 2 more lengths the same size. Job done :D

Anyone with the 2011 HT Comp on here? I want to protect the underside of the down tube from damage but as all the cables run under this on the bike you can’t fit a crud catcher to add some protection from stone chips etc. Any ideas how I could protect the down tube?

PS. I resorted to a Bender Fender for catching mud

As said above, its ok to use washing up liquid but make sure its ALL rinsed off well. Muc off and Hope sh!t shifter are best I’ve used.

I recently bought a Boardman HT Comp and v pleased with it. Great spec for the price. I saw the bike taken from the box and it wasn’t far off fully built, so can’t be too much the Halfords crew could bodge surely!

The CONVEX shape will do you no favours, the CONCAVE shape will do you plenty.

Yes, excuse my error there! Like idea of MG1’s being cheaper but Nano’s look better, maybe just have to bite the bullet hmm!

I wear MP66 shoes so maybe the concave shape won’t do me any favours. I have DMR V8’s atm and they have been OK but what something with larger platform.

Having had the Deore on my old bike and Elixir on my new bike, I’d def go with the Deore given a choice. The Elixir’s are fine and do the job ok, but don’t feel quite as powerful.

I see the path you mean Martyn between Coldwell Clough and marker 8.

I’ve ridden the rocky sections through Nabs Wood/Gores Farm and Cutthroat Bridge sections of Ladybower route on my hardtail and that wasn’t too bad, how does Jacobs Ladder compare as it looks even more technical? Don’t want to knacker my new Boardman!!!

Thanks everyone for your replies. Seems to be the consensus that its the wrong time of year to enjoy the white peaks area, so I think we will save a weekend away there until the drier months.

I’ve been up to the Dark Peaks a few times last year around Edale etc. but as we we’re only going for the day we didn’t plan to go as far up as that really. Maybe we need to re-think.

Anyone know what cut gate conditions are like this time of year?
