Thanks guys, will check the Smorgasbord / chunky monkey tyres out and give them a call to see what combo they recommend.

Looking for an sleeping mat and not too fussed about the insulation as only for summer use – wondering how comfy the numo mat is versus the dirtbag?

I chose the Mk7 Golf GTD over the Leon FR mainly because both the interior and exterior are of a better quality and it just looks better. I went for the Carbon Grey colour which looks awesome too. Yes the Leon is probably better value for money but the Golf is a step up IMO. No regrets from me.

PS. It is a company car though, so money was less of an issue.

Cheers guys, it’s going to be really congested whichever way but will avoid the A27 after last year and come down from A3 way on one of suggested routes A283 etc.

Do you have any specific system models in mind fluxhutchinson? What’s the turn down ratio?

Vaillant over WB everytime for me. If your replacing a powermax your probably going to want to replace it witbh a system boiler and unvented cylinder rather than a combi.

Would a combi not be suitable then?

I find I have to make my coffee and let it cool without the lid on for about 5-10 mins before I leave otherwise it stays too hot to drink. Oh and coffee always seems to taste better than tea, which I find stews a bit in a travel mug or is that just my poor preparation!?

I can heartily recommend the Starbucks stainless steel travel mug – keeps a coffee warm for ages. So much so I have to let the coffee cool a bit before I put the lid on or I don’t have time to drink it before I get to work – and that’s an hour away!

RROD is a bummer, mine was out of warranty when it happened and was almost as economical to get a new one, so that’s what I got and they have fixed the RROD issue on these which is a relief!

We have a policy where birthdays is one or two large presents where as Christmas, just over a month later, is loads of smaller things, probably Sylvanian Families stuff this year.

You don’t have to justify your purchase to anyone here, none of their business.

For what it’s worth I’m in a similar position, but my girls are 5 and 8 – I’ve been looking at the Hudl from Tesco too but you can get the Kindle Fire HD from Amazon for the same price now (unless you’re using clubcard points or have a Tesco CC) and from what I’ve read online it’s a bit better. The Nexus 7 looks great though and if you can set up multiple users as said above that’s quite a handy feature.

@dknwhy I did take a look at the DHB M1.0 but was a little put off by a number of the reviews mentioning durability issues but sounds like your experience has been ok so far.

@cycl1ngjb Forgot about Specialized, will have a browse online in a moment

Have you found that your fitness has improved on the mountain bike?

In answer to your question, yes I have, even at a ‘nimble’ 15 mph average I have seen improvement in my fitness which has helped me keep up better with the local MTB club.

PS. I got some SPD’s for the bike too which helped to improve my speed and efficiency.

I don’t think you will find a better bike than a Decathlon BTwin Triban 3 for less than £500 – if you’re lucky you might find the red one with a carbon fork like I did last week :D

    Here’s a link http://www.johnlewis.com/toys/micro-scooter/maxi-micro/c8000024600

my daughters had one for 2 years – she’s a smallish 7 y.o. and loves it. Lots of her friends at school have them too. Plus when you want to get rid they still sell well second hand.

I play in one of the leagues at my local Goals – I really enjoy it, the pitches and facilities are top notch but the games are VERY competitive and referees of varying standard. Having said all that, still love it and wouldn’t want it any other way. Look away if you don’t want to get roughed up a bit though!

Old Man Cooper is an entertainment on his own and worth the camping fee.

    Like a comedy character!

If Nickcwolves one is the same one I’ve stayed at, the pub over the road is really good for food too, and also has its own micro brewery on site (or did several years ago).

Not sure about micro brewery but they do awesome German beer called Dortmunder and a nice Hereford Cider
