Don’t know anything about them, but a 200 hours service interval has to be better than 15 hours.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “WOO- HOO what a ride!”

EDIT: have just Googled and the original quote is:-

“Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in one pretty and well preserved piece, but to skid across the line broadside, thoroughly used up, shouting GERONIMO!”

52 here. Age is (mainly) in the mind.

My old Raleigh was still ok when I gave it away more than 25 years after I’d bought it.

pedalhead, why do you have a layback seatpost on a custom frame? Surely the frame could have been made to get your arse in the right place or would it have reduced tyre clearance too much?

I ordered a custom bike from a well recommended shop and told them it had to be here by my 50th birthday. This gave them about six months to get everything sorted. The frame was ready a couple of weeks before my birthday but the shop took a further 12 weeks to build and deliver the bike. I was not happy.

I got the paper this morning on an almost identical bike, except mine only has a front brake.

I think it’s the stem spacers, stem, riser bar, chunky lever combo that makes it look odd. I’d have gone for a bigger frame and a short stem with a lower saddle height. Also, forks look a bit out of place, old fashioned curved steel ones would be better IMO. Having said all that I quite like it and it’s good to see function put before form for once.

edgelands – Wouldn’t it be better if you sorted them into rider number? That way they’d only have to be sorted once, now 400 people have to look through 400 thumbnails. Sorry, can’t be bothered. I’ll wait for one of the other photographers to upload theirs.

drjohn, I’m sure you did all you could to signpost the route. Personally I entered the event because I’ve recently moved to the area and it was a great introduction to what’s available in the Forest, so big thanks from me.

I was with a group of about 30 the missed a right turn and did a few extra miles because of a missing sign but apart from that I really enjoyed it. Bit more fire road than I expected but fun nonetheless.

If you want a gearbox frame, surely the Nicolai Pinion is the way to go.

You’ll always get more selling in parts, but it’s more effort for you. You have to decide whether the money or your time is more precious.

Weather forecast now shows no rain! Either way, I’m pretty much going whatever the weather and looking forward to it.

Sounds like you might be better off with a hybrid, how about a Cannondale BadBoy?

The search is rubbish….It only seems to give results newer than about 3 weeks old…unless I’m doing something wrong…..

You are! The advanced search allows you to choose the time frame you want to search in (up to forever)

Whatever the rights and wrongs of the OP’s case, I won’t be buying a Litespeed frame under any circumstances. This from the owner of many thousand pounds worth of bikes, including a Titanium one.

If a company uses the phrase ‘Lifetime guarantee’ and it’s doesn’t mean the lifetime of the original owner, then it’s just a con.

Probably not, I’ve got a theory that the BBC forecast is always pessimistic so people don’t complain when they’re disappointed by bad weather. Metcheck is certain much more optimistic about the weekend.

Of course the ramblers are going to object. What’s the point in asking a select group with a vested interest in maintaining the status quo? Ask the general public at large.

Well, I’ve got a place, but the weather forecast is “raining all day” currently, so I’m not looking forward to it as much as I was.

Can you get to the pipework as close to the valve as possible and squirt some cold water up to the F&E tank at mains pressure, that should clear any blockage.

I’m 51 and can maintain a heart rate of 170 (my theoretical max) for quite a while. I’m not super fit and I’d be very surprised if I could get my maximum to much over 200 without collapsing.

I so wish the take of him skidding through shot had be followed by a loud crash.

    Recipe:
    Any green leafy veg
    Some chorizo
    Chilli flakes
    Crème fraiche
    Parmesan

Put some pasta on to boil (60-100g each)
Fry the chorizo and as soon as the fat starts to appear, add the chopped veg, some chilli flakes and a leek, onion or celery if you like. Stir
When pasta is cooked, drain. To the veg, add a large spoonful of Crème fraiche and grate in some fresh parmesan. Stir in the pasta and voila, a delicious healthy meal in 15 minutes.

Doh, the answer to my question has appeared on the website: there’s parking in the Hotel field (unless it’s wet).

    Nicknoxx

Does anyone know what the parking situation is? There’s no way the car park will fit 2 or 3 hundred cars in.

Interesting, so despite their reputation on STW, not one Lynskey failure in maybe 100 broken bikes.

I bought a 10 speed 531 framed Raleigh Record in 1975 for £57. In today’s money that’s about £500 which I’d say was about the same value for money.

No, of course not. Mountain biking is all about riding in rough conditions and trail centres are purpose designed for us. If you want to keep your ‘posh’ bike for best, stay on the road/towpath/family trail.

I’ve sold all my bikes except a fully rigid 29er. While it’s great in most circumstances, I can feel another full-sus bike in my future.
