I’ve only seen one full bike for less and that had a scratch on the fork stanchions and a few other issues.

+ another 1 on the damp

That’s why I don’t keep my bikes in the cellar despite it being much more secure than the shed.

The Verderers trail in the Forest of Dean would be RIGHT up your street. Off road, but fast, swoopy, no jumps, no claggy mud and really good fun. For what it’s worth I feel pretty much the same as you about mtbing.

Not quite complete in this photo but was eventually rideable, made from three frames brazed together:-

I did mine in CT125 rather than CT100. Thicker and better screened.

Consider also running a pair of cables to somewhere where you can keep a media player if you don’t want one under the tv. Run at least one HDMI cable from the media centre to each tv.

Also run speaker cable from the media centre, tv and/or stereo to speaker positions. Don’t forget surround sound speakers. I also have speakers in the kitchen, garden and bathroom. Use mains cable it’s MUCH cheaper than decent speaker cable and just as good.

+1 for cat 6 from broadband router (next to main phone socket) to tv, media centre, hifi and anywhere you might want a wireless repeater (upstairs? garden?).

Buy a decent distribution amp for audio and tv signals

Don’t bother with phone cable. You can get structured cables that contain AV, network, speakers cables in one. Many combinations are available but it’s not cheap.

The Verderers blue in the FoD is great.

    Most of them.

The Klein Attitude was worth more to me than I got for it.
The Kona A is pretty much irreplaceable.
The Mercian was old and a bit knackered but had charm

Lack of space forced the sales and now lack of funds prevents replacement.

At least I still have 1 bike, and I’m never selling it.

So, does that mean we should encourage swearing, especially amongst our primary school children?

Err, no, I certainly didn’t suggest that. I don’t imagine many primary school children read STW either.

    Argyle, that’s excellent.

Have you actually listened to the language in a primary school playground recently? There isn’t a swear work the average 9 year old doesn’t know and use when out of earshot of his/her parents. The idea that a child would learn any bad language from Singletrack magazine is absurd.

More generally, swearing is part of normal life, sometimes a sentence has more impact by using appropriate ‘fruity’ language. Sure, I wouldn’t expect the ‘F’ word or the ‘C’ word in the mag, but they do appear in the broadsheet press from time to time and so it should be.

    Grow the F up.

12hrs just isn’t reasonable unless the winner bid right at the end of the auction. They might have place a bid on a Friday then gone away for the weekend and not be able to get in touch until Monday night. During the week 24-48hrs is fair.

I’m using some forks made by Waltworks, but as emanuel syas, any 26er rigid fork will be about the right length and plenty wide enough.

@Mike – Paligap don’t have one on their website so I assumed they don’t import them. May have to visit my LBS

@tails – How much posted? Does it do Presta and Schrader?

@zippy – Bizarely parts are easier to find than the whole thing, probably because parts fit several pumps.

It will cost a fortune to run
    You will love it
Buy one, then when you’re fed up with it, sell it and buy another van.

Nobody ever mentions 4X but that’s quite close to mtb-ing, does anybody here do it?

I’d so love to do this and have got the OK from Mrs Noxx but only have a fully rigid bike at the moment so will have to pass. Have fun.

Just for doing work – not storing – I have a 12’x6′ DIY shed

Just about the right size I reckon

Don’t be silly, my shed is 12′ x 24′ and it still not big enough.

Lawn needs a trim and the path could do with a jet wash and repoint!

I know it’s de rigueur to comment on the background on all bike pics and
I get that, I really do. What I don’t get is this obsession with making things look like new. It’s a garden. A bit of moss here and there adds character. Why is everybody so anal about tidyness?

What with electric gear shifts, gps and now this, soon it will be impossible to have a bike without a dynamo hub.

FOD trail had me off and walking a couple of times the last time the enduring ran, and I can do 3 or 4 loops of the Cwmcarn trail on the trot and no dabbing

This has got me worried, is it really that much harder?

Are you talking about the Verderers trail in the FOD? The OP is talking about the Enduro trail which is described as:-

Using some of the less used trails of the Sallow Vallets Inclosure, the course is a mixture of flowing rooty singletrack, technical climbing and descents, mostly on natural surfaces. This is one of the toughest courses on the enduro calandar.

Almax is the king of chains, they also supply HUGE Squire locks and ground anchors.

Edit they have some deals with insurance companies too.

I’d imagine they’re using some sort of motion control rig for the tracking shots, it would make sticking it the ‘Ghost’ rider much easier.

    If it’s the groundsheet,
    Google “groundsheet repair kit”
    else
    Google “tent repair kit”

I thought the whole premise of Danny ‘finding out why he likes danger’ was rather false and Zane Lowe’s commentary was irritating, but the rest of the programmes was great. Danny seems like a really nice bloke.

Not sure if this helps, but I do Verderers quite regularly on Crests and NN but not tubeless. I’ve never had a problem with the rear tyre, it’s the front washing out I have trouble with.
