I don’t really care anymore, it’s the other cyclists that tend to annoy me more by creeping in front and then setting of real slow. At least motorbikes are going to get away nice ‘n fast.

More often than not I seem to find myself admiring all the shiny bits on them 😀

I think I’m going to get one myself soon 🙂

I have a cheap York bench and a set of dumbells from Argos 😉

I imagine a set of kettle bells or dumbells is going to offer a wider range of exercises than a barbell.

On the actual bench itself, I find that I’m way more motivated to exercise with it, than without it. I often got bored of just doing pressups and situps. For whatever reason, I don’t with this.

    Motivation is key! 🙂

Who’s the new al qaeda #1?

This will go on forever, but like a previous poster said, they couldn’t just not hunt him down.

Anyway, I expect things to get worse now with a few attacks here ‘n there.

jeffl – so far I really like it.

    – It’s *a lot* faster than the Hero. I’m already using it a lot more for things like browsing because it’s so much faster and nicer to use. I don’t get the annoying lag that I used to on Hero when I had several apps in use.

    – It’s lighter

    – It’s about the same width as the Hero, but about 5mm shorter, however it has more screen space (about 1cm more vertical screen space)

    – The screen is much better

    – The camera has a flash

    – It comes with swype. This is such an awesome app and makes keyboard input so much easier!

The only thing that is annoying me so far is the volume control seems harder to press than the one the Hero 🙂

The UI is fine. I’m not using the launcher app (I’ll give it a try), but I don’t have a problem with it.

I’m not that fussy with the UI, they all seem rather similar to me (apps on desktops, widgets, home screens etc).

There is a downside to the defy though, and it’s quite a big one if you’re into custom roms.

The bootloader is locked, which means it’s not likely to get any custom roms at all, and if motorola don’t release 2.3 for it, then we’ll be stuck on 2.2. It doesn’t make a big difference for me, if you have a short contract you can always upgrade to something better later on.

edit – I think I’m wrong about the custom roms on the defy anyway. It looks like they are available, but maybe the kernel version is locked, which means the developers will still be limited in what they can do…I guess.

woops, sorry my defy is actually 2.1, mt bad 😉

Rooting is the process of giving you more privileges on your phone. It’s needed in order to install a ‘custom rom’.

You will be using the ‘stock’ OS, which is the one that comes with the phone. A custom rom is just a customized version of the stock one – developers will add things, optimize things and sometimes break things 🙂

Ideally most non teccy people could just wait until the phone company releases the standard update (there’s an option in Android to check for updates and download them), but they take ages, and may not ever release them at all – hence some people go down the custom rom route, and get the latest OS earlier.

It still seems a bit risky rooting and adding the custom rom – part of the process will mean wiping the data of your phone.

The rooting part can be done by downloading an app form the market.

The custom rom part is a bit more tricky, there are apps that let you do it in a ‘one click’, but if that doesn’t work, your’ll need to be a bit more teccy and download the Andriod developer toolkit, and use it copy files to your phones sd-card, then run a few commands ‘n faff about a bit (lots of howto’s on the xda-developers site).

This is what I’m running on my htc-hero.

I’m also running 2.2 on my new Motorola Defy, but I won’t bother attempting to install a custom rom on it, because I still think there’s some risk involved, and it’s new and shiny and works great as it is 🙂

You can root most and install a custom rom. I did that to my old htc hero today and its now running 2.3. 😀

Not really sure what you mean with all the line numbering, got an example of what you’re trying to achieve?

If you’re trying todo funky stuff with XML, maybe look at XSLT.

Card got done a couple of days ago 🙁

Don’t know if it was CRC related, but I brought stuff from them at the beginning of all these troubles, and thought I had got away with it.

The card only gets used for the weekly supermarket shop, as well as a purchase from wiggle.

Similar issues to Houns with the anxiety and panic attacks. Can definitely relate to the avoidance of going out, and I get horrible anxiety being stuck in traffic or on trains.

Essentially I force myself to do it, and eventually it’s got better over time. I realise I’m not going to die, or passout, or whatever if I do these things. The more I do them, the better I feel, but then something mite put a spanner in the works, and I’ll go back a few steps.

I don’t really understand myself sometimes. These issues are big to me and have in the past stopped me from going out, stopped me from going to family meets at christmas ‘n such, yet I can hop on a bike and pedal around one of the busiest’s city’s each day and I’m fine.

I’ve thought about it a lot in the past, and still do (but more like urgh – no thanks).

I was always too scared of it, it felt too final for me, and my ‘hope’ always seems to win out.

I seem to have up and periods, but thankfully more up these days, so I’m winning. I think biking and the outdoors has helped a great deal 🙂

I like mine. Use it for commuting mostly.

I once had a hardcore roadie drafting me for a bit, when he passed he said ‘nice bike’.

    You should get one 😀

And the best thing about cycling to work is cycling to work!

The best thing about work, is cycling to work 😉

It’s quite a lifestyle change, at least for me, but I echo rOcKeTdOg’s comments on less cycling at weekends. I barely use the MTB now 🙁

I do have my eye set on a lighter, faster commuting bike, something like an Orbea is catching my eye right now…

Hoping for a Macca 1-2 but fearful for any reliability problems they may have!.

Also don’t think the RedBull’s start-only kers will be good for them – how will it handle restarts behind the safety car?

Looking at the sector times in quali, Vettel was only faster than Hammy in sector 3 – the rest of the track he might be an easy target (hopefully!).

If your willing to down to 30L (perfect for day sack), then this.

    http://www.climbers-shop.com/21593/products/Karrimor_Hot_Rock_30.aspx

I’ve had mine for about 5 years, used most days for cycling, but also used it for hiking/climbing in winter and summer. It’s large enough for overnighters too. Bro’s got the same but had his for about 8 years, so its toughness is proven.

Bare in mind the newer versions look like a different material, and are probably not as good, but the one in the link looks exactly the same as mine and has lifetime guarantee.

Not a manager myself, but we’re open plan – I like being able to slide a few meters on my wheely chair and arrive at my managers desk 😀

We’re actually changing offices soon, and going ‘agile’.

It’s certainly going to be an interesting change from what we have now – nearly everyone moving to laptops and docking stations, and same desks and equipment etc.

Our bosses have recorded that not everyone is in everyday, so we can cut down on the number of desks we need.

Our department is about 4 desks short. This means that if everybody does in fact turn up on the same day, then we’ll have to hotdesk into different departments.

It’ll be interesting, and I’m quite looking forward to it, even if it screws up everything 🙂

You should get one, and if not, get a RoadRat, which is also a perfect commuting / general use bike 😉

I read the review, and personally I wouldn’t have a clue if the rear end felt ‘keen and eager’, and the frontend was ‘ponderous’. If it’s for commuting, you just want something that’s comfy, won’t fall to bits, can take guards, and works in crap weather. If it’s anything like the RoadRat, it’ll be heaps of fun too.

Samsung Galaxy S 2 if you want an Andriod 😉

But to be honest it sounds like you would get along better with the Iphone – what with your like of ITunes.

r.e. the video playback, there was another thread about that on here with some solutions.
