I’ve always been tempted by one of these:

    http://www.snowandrock.com/pws/UniqueProductKey.ice?ProductID=VGO0037GD&utm_source=google&utm_medium=base&utm_campaign=products

I’ve not seen one though so can’t really comment on it, but it does get good reviews.

    A clip here:

I use Nuun, probably over the top for the cycling that I do mind.

Avoid the Cola flavour, it’s disgusting 😀

    Tri-Berry is nice though.

Montane Atomic D2 – I’got an older version and it’s great for anything, but does have an active cut (so a slightly longer back to keep ur ass dry)

I understand in this world that people are w*nkers and will do this kind of stuff.

What I can’t understand is why the police won’t pursue it 😮

I would probably make more of these decisions after you take your CBT, but have no fear, a 125 will be tons of fun in the short-term.

Love mine, although it’s a scooter 😉 *beep beep*

Whatever you get, make sure it’s reliable. You don’t want to be worrying that it’s going to break down on you.

During my CBT, the Honda 125 I was on felt a bit poo – the gears weren’t that easy to get and it took a while to start 🙂

About helmets, don’t buy second hand (well I wouldn’t). Most people say if a helmet is dropped, it needs replacing – with second hand stuff you can’t trust that it’s not damaged – besides, you have try it on for size 🙂

If you’re cold in a bag that’s rated to -12 then it’s probably something else, and probably not worth investing in another another one.

What tent are you in? My 2 person one seems to lock in a lot of heat, which means I’m rarely cold even in a 2/3 season bag all year. Those with an inner may well keep you warmer.

I would also try some merino leggings.

If you think you’re getting cold because of the ground, you could look at a foam roll matt instead of or as well as the thermarest. They are only £5 or so and often perform better.

I wonder if anyone’s come up with a ‘combi’ style brake for bikes? i.e. 1 level that does both front and rear brake. Lot’s of scooters have them fitted these days incl. mine, seems quite a nice idea.

edit – just re-read, seems like people have! 🙂

Did my CBT a month ago, didn’t get on with gears straight away so completed it on the scooter – that’s something to factor in as well.

Even though I can legally ride a 125 geared bike, there’s no chance in hell I would without extra training.

Anyway, I do love my scooter – a Honda PCX 125. Around 100MPG, top speed of 60mph, gets upto 45-50mph without any effort, and eventually upto 60 🙂

A chap who rides a motorbike here once said to me ‘you will always want more power’, and I think he has a point 🙂

A 125 is fine for what I do mind ,and there’s not many roads on my commute where I would want more.

Obviously I’m still new to it all, but Zedsdead speaks a great deal of sense I think.

Also, don’t forgot costs as other’s have said.

Insurance can be around £400 fully comp if you’re starting from scratch.

    Beckenham / Bromley

40-50 min cycle commute into London
20-30 min train commute into London

Nice parks, not too far from M25, lot’s of country lanes within reach for road riding down towards Farleigh and Warlingham.

I use a Kryptonite KryptoLok plus cable – since moving to our new office we no longer have bike storage, so I have to use the public ones.

If you want to ride a blingy bike, then I’d say get it insured – it’s what, £70 a year?

If you want the best lock/chain then go for Almax. One of the few that can’t be done by croppers, but it’s probably stupid heavy, and it’s expensive.

Then again, lots of people (incl. me) keep their locks locked to the rails over night to save carrying them home.

For cycle specific locks, the Kryptonite new york is probably the bestest.

Having said all of the above, it does seem London is full of blingy bikes lately (ride to work scheme perhaps?), so the changes of getting yours nicked might be reduced 😉

Aye – there’s also ‘Documents To Go’

Could you not use something like DropBox instead of FTP? – There is talk of an FTP backend for DropBox too, but I don’t think it’s going ahead.

Have a look at QuickOffice. Not used it myself, but it seems like it would do similar things.

For browsing I use Opera, but I don’t have a ton of bookmarks, so not sure what additional bookmark features it might have.

When you do get back into mtb’ing, you could join a club.

Not sure where you are in SE London, but these guys ( http://www.bigfootbikes.com ) have a road and mtb club, and do evening and weekend trips.

Pay attention to how quickly each company roll out Android updates (unless you want to start installing custom roms).

I imagine both will come with 2.3, but it’s always nice to have the latest, and some companies suck at getting them out to the public.

    * I would get the S2 if you don’t mind paying the extra 🙂

whereas otherwise you’d fit a lot of bicycles in

But this is what I find dangerous 🙂

Now the lights go green, some set of slow, some are wobbling, one poor guy is struggling to clip in. It’s horrible! 🙂
