    I was going to post something about the lid on the vargo. It may annoy you as it doesn’t clip on.

    I don’t take the lid with me these days. I used to just attach it to the mug with a bit of tape and that worked fine – the only reason for doing this was to ensure none of the items mentioned could fall out when I was carrying my stuff. When cooking stuff it’s fine and doesn’t fly off 🙂

    Thermarests are way more comfy than a foam mat, at least for me. If the weathers ok, I can sleep fine on a foam mat, but I sleep better on thermarest 🙂

    I’ve got the Vargo. It’s perfect. All the ti mugs are going to weigh about the same, so the next important thing is probably size.

    This mug is the perfect size. Can use it for drinking and eating out of. It also fits a small gas canister+burner+lighter+spork, so all my cooking stuff is in this one mug.

    I don’t think its worth getting the MSR kettle, from pictures it looks like it you couldn’t fit a gas cansister+burner in the pot for carrying around – that would annoy me.

    Full length themrarest prolite for me. They were reduced at Field & Trek.

    I initially went for a foam rollup mat because it was only £5, but I don’t like having bits tied to the outside of my pack, I’d rather everything inside, hence I went for a prolite after about a year of toying with the idea.

    Think you made the right decision in going for a full length 🙂

    FoxyChick,

    I was at gillside most of last week. The weather at night was blooming terrible, gales and proper rain. But yeah, that is also my fav. campsite because it’s so easy to get to by public transport, it’s got local shops / pubs, and it’s right near Helvellyn;)

    Mind you 20p for 5 mins of shower is a bit steep, and there’s lots of sheep poop around 😕

    The penalties of late I really don’t agree with. There seem to be very few ‘racing incidents’ that go without a penalty, which I personally think is wrong.

    I think in the heat of the moment, at those speeds, a simple ‘sorry my bad’ would do, rather than a whopping fine. Persistent offenders should of course have their shoes wee’d in.

    I don’t have anything against putting the fastest guy at the front of the grid either. The grid is usually separated by tenths of a second which is nothing really. A poor start, or a mistake later on in the race can easily put the 1st place guy to the back.

    I’m interested to see sector timings as that McLaren didn’t seem too bad compared to yesterday. I think it’s a good car (balance is good), but it’s just slow.

    I imagine by next week the big boys would have copied the diffuser design so will be up there with Brawn, so yeah, Hammy will be up there with Button (hopefully).

    Yep good stuff, glad for Jenson. Not too happy about Barrichello, think he drove like an idiot some of the time.

    I’m just about awake 8)

    Predictions:
    1 – Vettel
    2 – Barrichello
    3 – Massa

    I think Button will crash out. Still fingers crossed that Mclaren are faking all this, so hopefully hammy will just win from the back of the grid 😉

    Yep, the BrawnGP car now has a little virgin logo on the side and a few red bits.
    I’m so looking forward to this season. The grid looks like it’s been reversed from last year and shuffled around a bit.

    Qualifying is just starting, so I’ll get back to my tea and toasted cheese muffin.

    Go BrawnGP! 🙂

    Might be worth getting yourself a blood pressure kit for home use.

    I had mine checked in the docs, and they kept asking me to come back because it was high time after time. I ended up buying my own kit so I could check it at home – and guess what, it was fine. The doc put it down to nerves in the end which seems quite a common thing.

    GoLite or OMM get my vote. I’ve got the Villain. It’s good bit of kit. Tough, light, comfy and very configurable (you can remove all the extra fittings).

    The only thing I didn’t like originally with the Villain was the thin waist belt (compared to what I’m used to). After using it quite a bit though, it’s fine – plus it can be replaced if needed).

    Also check out the Crux AK47 – gets good reviews.

    I would ignore the pack-size – just put it in a stuff-sack and squish it down lots – you will probably end up reducing the amount of space by 50% (I did with my laser comp anyway).

    I reckon most people would rate the laser-comp over the Vango, but they might just be brand-snobs.

    Probably not much difference between them to be honest, the laser-comp is a bit lighter but I doubt you would notice is.

    On another note, doesn’t the laser-comp compare more to the Helium 100, and the laser to the Helium 200?

    I’ll be out in the lake district next week in my laser-comp. Weather looks like it’s going to be pants, so hopefully I won’t drown during my sleep 🙂

    Macpac Minaret: Spacious, comfy and bombproof! Usually use this for any kind of base-camp. I wouldn’t carry it if I was backpacking on my own as it doesn’t pack down too small – fine for 2 people though if you split the gear.

    Terra Nova Laser Competition – Light, light and more light! I love this tent and use it when I’m out on my own. It’s got a perfect size porch for all my kit, handles the elements pretty well, packs down into nothing and weights nothing 🙂

    Im convinced because I have experienced things which have convinced me.

    Out of interest, what things?

    Sadly I haven’t experienced anything in this life yet to make me belief. Was you a believer before these things happened?

    I think I’m the type of person that can only believe in something if there is scientific proof, or I see it with my own eyes.

    I don’t think teaching R.E. does any harm. I didn’t to me, and I’m not religious.

    I was in my R.E. lessons about 15 years ago, and at the time, I’m pretty sure everyone in the class had made up their own mind on the matter. Most the kids just thought it was a doss anyway and didn’t really care. I don’t suspect that has changed 🙂

    I don’t know what they teach now though, do they put more emphasis on other religions?

    Anyway, like I said, it doesn’t do any harm, and is probably something I should have taken more seriously given the state of the world today. It’s a fairly interesting topic.

    1st = Off the peg (spesh hard-rock)
    2nd = Off the peg (merlin rock-lobster 853)
    3rd = Custom (on-one)
    4th = Off the peg (merlin malt-4)

    I enjoyed building my 3rd bike, but after it got nicked I couldn’t be **** to build one up again. I just wanted to get riding as soon as possible. Off the peg was also way cheaper for me (by like £400).
