It’s finally arrived! I’ll get some proper pictures of it in its natural environment when I take it out but at the moment you’ll have to do with hospital accommodation decor.

You can upgrade most parts (inc brakes and dropper) on the MyO bit. And I am sure if your LBS is good enough, they could help you out if there is something specific you want that isn’t listed on the orbea site. I have bars and stem from my previous bike and brakes will get replaced at a later date if I dislike the XTs.

When you order through orbea, you create a PDF with your spec taken from the orbea website. This PDF is emailed or taken in person to your LBS who puts the order in with orbea directly.

If you where to get the M10 upgrade the fork, shock and wheels didn’t care much if it was GX or X01 and had already got Hope brakes and other parts from your old bike, would spend the extra to get the M Team bike?

I know that’s going to sound daff as sorts but finding it hard to make up my mind what to do. Saving money keeps the wife happy.
If you’re not too fussed on bar/stem/drivetrain and have your own brakes then M10 with upgrades works out cheaper, or did for me anyway. Personally, GX eagle will do (almost) the same job and importantly isn’t going to be any slower than the top of the range eagle stuff (not sure the same can be said for lower end fork/shock/wheels, which is where the upgrades are worthwhile IMO). I also went for the upgraded dropper and will likely swap the brakes out at a later date. Came to £4500 with 10% work discount, so £1200 cheaper than the M-team.

What would you swap over from your current bike?

What a beauty! How do you find the coil? Have you just gone on (or close to) recommended settings for rebound/compression damping or are you finding it needs to be towards one of the extremes?

As Groundskeeperwilly said, a large would probably be fine. I’m pretty much the same as you (5’11) and went for a large. The reach is still longer than my capra (also in L) which I am comfortable with and the standover on the XL would probably be a bit more than I would like. I’m hoping it is going to strike a balance between stable yet still playful, whereas the XL I reckon would just be a bit too much bike to throw around. Totally depends on what you want from the bike, as I know some people who are smaller than I am who have gone XL.

Worthwhile maybe trying one if you can (says the hypocritical dipsh*t who didn’t ride one before buying and is now trying to reconcile his choice of buying a large…)

Well, its eventually been shipped! Only taken 6 months…. Should be here in the next few weeks. I’ll post some pictures up when I get it together. This is more exciting than christmas!

Also, from what the shop was saying, Orbea is building a new factory to deal with their Myo programme bikes. Hence the delay, but when its up and running they say it should be a 3 month lead time for custom models.

@b45her and Doug. Cheers for the info on the posts. I guess I’ll see how she goes but can always warranty and sell it on if it really is that bad. Not sure if I want to be castrated though.

@ circusnormal how tall are you? I went large (at 5″11/181cm). I’m coming off a large capra with a reach of 443mm and the rallon is 455mm. I’m comfortable with that length of reach, and although I have ridden bikes with longer numbers, still feel that the 485mm of the XL would be too long. Didn’t get a chance to demo one before purchase though…so I might be regretting the decision when it arrives. Hopefully not!

Got one on order, should be here in a few weeks I hope! Its the M10 model, but with X2 coil, 36 factory, DT 1501 and dropper post upgrade. I’ll be swapping over the stem and bars to the renthal carbons I have at the moment and may change the brakes at a later date. Didn’t see too much point in going for the Team model as, although the drivetrain would end up better, I tend to smash derailleurs…

Theres a few folk over on MTBR that have had one for a while and seem to rate it fairly highly (http://forums.mtbr.com/orbea/orbea-rallon-2018-ride-review-1056312.html). I’ll report back when I’ve had some riding time on it, but they look beautiful!

Only thing that concerns me is the RF dropper posts. I’ve not heard many good things about their reliability.
