cant speak for the Rockguardz, but the Mudhugger FR has impressed me greatly. Didn’t have to mod the mounting as mentioned above and its very secure. It’s flexible too so I’ve not had issues in the back of the car (a common question) or when crashing (even commoner..) Leaving it on year round now. Cant believe i survived for so long with a Marshguard- the looks wont bother you after an hour. The de-stickered one is unobtrusive too.

No, you can just enter your passcode instead. Same as TouchID.

Ah, of course. what a silly billy i am.

re FaceID and MTB.. what if I happen to wear a full face and goggles on the bike but need to stop to open my phone to check something? Presume i’ll have to remove those to unlock the device? instead of just a glove for TouchID now.. potential annoyance for motorcyclists too? 😐

The commisiere’s answer as to the SNAFU with the women’s race was laughable. “There was an issue” great, solid insight there when we needed it most.

Loved that. Didn’t love the RB feed switching to a **** episode of the Atherton Project from about 5 years ago just before Gwin’s run… anyone else catch that? (I know they weren’t responsible for the feed but it seemed like a RB fail to me) Stoked for Loic though, if it wasn’t Gwin to take it- I’d want Loic to. Not patriotic I know but who gives AF.

damn. It was the only decent way to watch the WC on the big screen for me this year. The vast majority of the MTB content was laughable though. Feel like catching up on some sick FMB comp from 7 years ago? they had you covered. Missed that at 7am? don’t worry, its on again at 2pm.

because i thought they were a bit spongy from new.

Have you long term experience with Hopes or are you coming from a different set up prior to the E4’s? FWIW, I’ve found almost all hope set ups have been on the softer side- a characteristic i have grown to appreciate. I got an older M4 Mono rear serviced by hope (after deciding it really needed a proper factory rebuild + i didn’t have the tools/patience at the time to do it) and it came back feeling EXACTLY the same as the much newer E4 that was on the same bike. Still with tons of modulation but more than enough power for me.

I can heartily recommend their in house services. The bleed was unsurprisingly far better than i had done at home on previous occasions. Fast turnaround too. Had them back on the bike in 3 days i think.

    aren’t they dot 5.1 only?

yep, same with my E4’s- not a fan of being upside down for long periods. had a small leakage at the MC as a result but this didn’t degrade performance in my case.

can anyone confirm if they are seeing it on the RedBull iOs app right now in the UK? The only way to get close was emailing myself a ‘watch this’ link from the RB desktop link above- however all the events are greyed out and times are ‘TBC’ grrrr!!!

    nickhit3

that’s why i don’t understand why i cant find it on the app- every other MTB event is and was. Even Hardline is there. Pretty shit they cant sort that out!

Someone can just turn up and start hacking a road into a hillside with a digger,

Its not ‘someone’ though is it. This was all agreed wasn’t it, as a sweetener for the pylon thing? Surely the council were implicit in this- someone is telling porkies.

its not showing as a live event (or at all) on the RB app on iOs… contrary to the posted link earlier. hmmm…

    cant even search for it.

true enough! I must say for balance, the product has been excellent with BT (fibre bb only for us). Speeds are as quoted and haven’t varied or dropped once during the contract. Which I think is a first for me over many years of shitty ADSL BB. Staff are always pleasant on the phone too, which makes it all the more frustrating when whey cant follow up on issues/pass you to the right dept/call back/email.. the basics are all still a total lottery.

My own training to be a billing operator was 8 weeks iirc. I’m sure the army can teach you to kill someone in less time. So its not a lack of investment. Its a mystery to me even having passed through their staff system. And, as i pointed out above, bad treatment is sadly NOT limited to the overseas staff in my experience. If only it Was that black and white!

Seems someone in BT’e much maligned Indian call centres is selling data.

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/09/06/bt_call_scam/

I thought they had pledged to move everything back to the UK a few years back?

without wishing to turn this into a standard BT rant.. I believe that is their intention yes. However i had a bad experience with a new build FTTP install, now thankfully resolved (openreach were great in my experience when on site- BT was overwhelmingly the problem). It took from August 10th to October 5th 2016 to get a service. Moved into property Aug 26th.. on two occasions i was passed to Indian call centres during the total 9.5 hrs of mobile phone time I accrued- BOTH times they attepted to place copper line install orders, which surprise surprise were cancelled WITHOUT any notification as the development is FTTP only.. Waited 3 weeks on one occasion before I found out the cancel had occurred 24 hrs after it was placed. Furious. No apology. No F*cks given.

Fast forward to our contract negotiation that i just did last week, and i was cheerily told that “alot has happened to improve that situation since your incident there” which was irritating…

So, I’d be inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt there if it wasn’t for the fact that it’s just taken took two calls to get two different ‘non negotiable best deal ever offers’ I chose the cheapest and called it a day. Service has been great from day one, by my god what a hateful operation they run. Having worked for BT in the early 2000’s, it seems nothing has really changed.

Shortly after, I went onto the shop floor one morning to a large, carefully made sign hanging from the rafters over an empty corner:

“NON SMOKING AREA – COME HERE FOR A CHAT WHENEVER YOU FEEL LIKE IT AND LET SOME OTHER ****ER DO YOUR WORK”

    excellent

get it serviced again. I had a noisy rear Fox shock for a long time, got it serviced after doubting claims such as “they do that/it’s a fox thing” and the result? i now have a silent shock and better performance. Unless you have a service itinerary that is dated form the original owner, you’ll never be able to verify what ‘recently serviced’ means.

“binning it and starting again” is a bit rash unless you truly have more money than sense!

Ninfan, thanks for the condescension there. Classy of you. If i may take a leaf out of your book there for a moment, look up the definition of the word ‘support’ that I actually used, and pay attention to the context of the rest of the statement i made. It seems you chose to ignore the information-and points- Bails supplied regarding his voting record. I am aware of what democracy is and isn’t. He would, in all likelyhood, vote for such legislation- if we take a look at his record-for some evidence. His ‘conscience’ or whatever martian signals control him would lead him to vote in favour of the end to gay marriage and/or making abortion illegal.

And I mean that as a warning, not as support for him.

    thank god for that

Source of his comments above. Based on his passed voting record (look it up), its a pretty safe bet he’d support the pushing through of any such horrific legislation were it to occur.

the only big C he is rhymes with hunt, Ninfan.

hmm.. just curious why the word ‘essential’ was used.

kind of Britain that could well become essential after Brexit,

no to gay marriage and no to abortion- in any case including rape, according to him this morning during a tv appearance. Is it essential we become that way?

If anyone knows Brimmond Hill in west Aberdeenshire, this used to have a brilliant washed out gully on the west facing side that was a riot to ride and where i cut my teeth when i started riding full suspension many moons ago. I still remember the horror of turning up after work one evening- after a 45 minute ride from the city centre, to find it completely flattened and filled in with a gravel path in its place virtually all the way to the summit. That was last time I ever rode there. I feel the OP’s pain.

Just to add: we are from the same area where the Murray’s (tennis fame) are tarmacing over and building a golf course on another great set of trails.

what a world we live in where a threat to our sport can be a sour faced tennis dynasty building a golf (?!) course.

I like the Preston Station building.

I haven’t yet seen it in person although i used to live and commute from Preston Rail station for 3 years. Is this addition not part of the regeneration including a Leisure Lakes satellite shop they opened for commuters? For the record I think it looks cool. The lead/cladding choice less so. Preston is bursting at the seams with some horrible architecture- this isn’t the worst the city has to offer..
