Great, thanks for the tips and particularly the coat mention- i have one that will work well i think. That addition hadn’t occurred to me in lieu of a very dark jacket/suit.

I had this recently (in the last week) at work.. Chrome browser on Win 7. Auto Play audio/vid advert with no quit or mute option aside from quitting the tab. Also auto scrolled the page to the vid position. Installed Adblocker – no problems since. First time I’ve seen that on this site.

thread title is a little misleading too btw – this isn’t a Microsoft problem.

My wife is from Nice and I’ve had the good fortune to spend many a summer (and out of season trips) there. All suggestions above are great. Visiting Antibes, and Grasse are great too, as is Villfranche sur Mer -shouldnt be hoaching in November but the sea will be a little chilly. Eze as mentioned is stunning too. Monaco is worth visiting too (take the train not the bus- its quicker- bus is v cheap though about 1.5 euros for the 45 min trip) and the aquarium there is stunning- genuinely impressive. Try a Fenoccio ice cream in the old town btw.. even in November it will be awesome. The best ice cream I’ve ever had anyway. Bon Voyage! PM me if you want any insider info 🙂

here’s a fun game: see if you can find the new emoji’s touted as part of ios11, there’s even 56 of them. cant be that hard right?

Oh and the siri translate function? try that? oops nope, you cant “i cant translate British English yet” is the reply. Good Job Apple!

re battery issues – as an example, the action centre toggle does NOT disable bluetooth if you find that re enabled upon updating as I did despite never using bluetooth products)- go into settings and you’ll find it still on. Its worth googling/ youtubing battery tips for ios11- I’ve always done that and there’s a bunch of things to turn off that you genuinely don’t need (looking at you ad tracking location etc) take a moment and look them up, you’ll be surprised what is running you don’t need. And no, it doesn’t cripple the phone. Never found anything unusable after turning the majority of location and background tasks off etc.

Battery calibration is NOT the solution, unless your phone is only 24 hours old. Proactively look up the tasks that use battery resources and turn them off.

I really don’t think the average MTB punter is realistic with themselves over what they actually ride, hence buy stupid bikes.

This is very true! I absolutely include myself in that generalisation BUT I’m happy to ride a ‘stupid bike’ so… wheres the issue? I’m happy to ride a compromised bicycle and I’m not searching for the ultimate do it all (newsflash- its a marketing fallacy). I don’t personally want a jack of all trades ride. I want a tool to enhance the parts of the rides I look forward to- the descents. My next bike will be a downhill bike again. Does that make any sense? no. Will i smile when i go into my garage? every time.

The other day I saw a young girl coming down the staircase at the station with a croped white top on – that certainly made me think that there must be a god after all…

I don’t subscribe to the ‘less travel = more fun’ brigade. Depends what you ride of course, but I like having suspension – it can help turn an otherwise dull trail into something a bit more exciting – like clattering through the bumpier line, using the suspension to pop off small features and get a bit more air time, and hitting more severe features more quickly (yes….speed is fun, especially speed over bumpy terrain), and at the end of the day I’m no spring chicken, so after a few hours on gnarly trails getting off the bike and not feeling like I’ve done ten rounds with Mike Tyson is always a bonus – live to ride another day, less fatigued, less risk of injury’s etc. It’s about fun, I’m not looking for the ‘Ultimate and most extreme human challenge’. I want to get off the bike with a big grin on my face.

    this.

I would be astonished if brake discs weren’t treated in such a way as to cope with rapid cooling and heating..? the above ‘risk’ of rapid cooling with water sounds like BS to me. Never had an issue bedding in discs this way. Or crossing a stream following a long descent etc..

Do Apple use the terms edge to edge?

    https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=iphone+x+edge+to+edge&oq=iphone+x+edge+to+edge&aqs=chrome..69i57.7399j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

It’s immaterial if apple are calling it edge to edge if every commentator and website covering the iPhone x is. I agree that strictly speaking.. its not ‘edge to edge’ It is nit picking of course, and it personally wouldn’t stop me buying one if i could happily spunk that kind of cash on a phone, but it was the first thing that came to mind as soon as i saw the leaks… it categorically isn’t edge to edge when you have competitors that truly are with their screen tech.
