Winter gardens yep, I love the indoor tropics in the beautiful bent wood structure. Meadowhell, hate it as a place but as a source of commerce and revenue and jobs can’t fail it. Park hill flats, flats with corridors and lifts big enough for milk floats. Ech floor was to represent a street and build neighbourhoods. Forward thinking, flawed thinking but ahead of its time by a century or two.
Don valley stadium, mmm the student games, what an almighty cock up.
Ok so I came across as little grumpy but I’m incredibly proud of my city and from where it was when I was growing up to where it is now its barely the same place. Hence me being a little peeved at a car park being classed as a crowning glory….

It’s just not, we have far more to shout about than a daft car park. We have people, heritage and environment which are far better (IMO) than that structure.
The best thing about it was when the dame at that years panto was dressed as the building!
As a car park it’s ok but as a symbol of this fine city it’s not something I’d mention in polite society!

ok DRAC that raised a chuckle.
moses, the oxymoron bit included the word rare…
I put it on here as people may or may not be in the same boat. take it or leave it.
thank you for the suggestion about lorotadine, will give it a go.

Sorry to the ones who were obviously disgusted at my lack of trust in the drug info. For your information if I read all the info on all the drugs I’ve taken to keep me on this planet I’d be qualified in legal jargon speak, probably still reading too. To those who’ve found it useful, cheers, that’s why I mentioned it.
To Rachel, rare known side effect, bit of an oxymoron when two people out of two in the same family suffer from the same side effect!

if you want a nice level walk then rivelin valley has a nice nature trail in it. pub half way along or at the bottom of stannington, neither are sparkling just locals.
there is wyming brook off the a57, there’s a fire road which is better as an ascent and then walk down the footpath next to the stream, very beautiful and one of those places you can’t believe sheffields just a couple of miles away.
get up to lodge moor for walks and food (use you’re OS maps to find the paths) there’s the three merry lads and the sportsman. I always get them mixed up, one’s ok for food but the other one is better! the better one only takes cash. I think that’s the sportsman.
if you don’t mind a bit of a drive before your walk you could get over to padley gorge and go down to the cafe at grindleford station.
to be honest you have the whole of the peaks on your doorstep. there are some lovely walks on the strines and a reasonable put up there by the same name.
    plenty to go at! enjoy.

A friend has a rocket and while trying to follow him a few weeks ago I questioned wheel size and pop and stuff you’ve mentioned. I thought I could do with an advantage and a wheel size conversation started. His response was interesting and quite salient, he said he was no where near the limit of what the rocket could do and so he could improve his ability before looking a bigger wheels!
That is where I am, my ability can improve as can my fitness, or I could spend a shed load of money on a plastic fantastic something or other and hope that I feel the benefit.
The rocket is a lovely looking bike and is something I want to test this summer. For the op’s info my mate has just put lyriks on his having had revelations on, he was bloody quick with the revs I’d hate to see how fast he is now!
    Patience tiger, it’ll be rewarded.

as many have said there are loads of people suffering through what some see as just an itch. our eldest has it terribly and has had since an early age. gp’s are just that general practitioners, you may find a good one now and again but most don’t know what to do with youngsters with it.
George is now nearly 12 and puts cream on every morning and every evening. if she doesn’t it flairs up and gets infected. it’s better when we’ve had holidays with loads of time in the sea. she has a dust mite allergy (was tested by the childrens) but this doesn’t seem relevant as the place we stay can often be a building site as they’re renovating but it still gets better.
You’re in Sheffield aren’t you? as are we, when we got referred tot he childrens life got a lot better. we got the proper creams, not just steroid and anti biotic, a care plan, information and in some instances just the fact they didn’t fob us off was a good feeling too.
as for your lad, try to keep his finger nails as short as possible (difficult but I found the scissor on a leatherman the best for doing this) keep him cool, this heat wave has been hard on George as when she’s hot she scratches more.
we’ve tried loads of different things, the olive oil soap is a new one on me and I’ll mention it to the wife.
good luck and patience, it’s scant help but you’ll get through it.
oh we also wash all of Georgia’s bedding and clothing far more regularly than some would and it does help.

Alex is right, the way the axle secures is the variable not the axle size itself. Some need tools some need no tools. Syntace needs tools, most others are no tools.

Its a bit bright for me but then I’ve always preferred the greys which isn’t for everyone too. It’s a great build 5spot, how you finding the new wheel set? Also compare it to an Rfx if you can, assuming you’ve had one!

You’re right matt but it’s not beyond the whit of man to get some stickers made, which is all you see there. If the stickers are well made they’d cover the etching. If you emailed turner direct you may find they could leave the etching off and provide stickers, worth asking….
In all honesty I think they look great but then have been a fan of turner since my old xce, I love the machining being visible and the attention to detail. I also love the greasable bearings which have lasted me so very well.

rocketman, i’d normally agree about the body sorting itself out and I gave it a damn good go letting it. as my wife says though, the stem cell transplant and chemo nuked my balls good and proper!
the anecdote about the younger girlfriend may have worked for him but I know what would happen to my balls if I went there!

Ok so I’m on testosterone replacement. Hands up no yellow jerseys here….. Having had a fair amount of chemo and a stem cell transplant my levels were low, not as low as the op though. Went on the hrt and got my life back. I use a gel which I rub on my shoulders and sides of my torso. Feel so much better, I have energy and patience again and am able to life a fuller life than I was doing. My brother in laws dad had a similar chemo situation to me and has testosterone implants which do the same as the gel. The down side to the implants is you can tell when it’s wearing off, the gel is a constant so long as you put it on as prescribed.
I’m 42 this year and will be on it for the rest of my life I guess. Small price to pay.

Rocket, based on cy’s nerdy attention to detail and passion for customer service. I have no knowledge of the banshee and can’t make a ridden comparison but having tried to keep up with a friend on a rocket and failed miserably I’m aiming to have a test ride on one this summer.
Test ride them both if you can.

After a herniated disc and weeks sleeping on the floor we went for a half memory foam half traditional construction. It was an absolute revelation. Recently replaced it with a similar one, basically went into the shop and said which is the firmest mattress you have, tried it, bought it! Lovely. By the way it’s a deep one with reinforced edges (less prone to sinking when sat on over time, teenagers gaming was the example given!) so then needed new cover sheets. Go and try is my suggestion.
Discount beds in Sheffield get my vote but don’t know where you are so might be totally irrelevant. Good luck.

Like ndg says. The x 12 is the syntace system which requires the use of an Allen key to remove the axle. The ‘dropouts’ may loo different where the axle fastens in but where the hub goes should be the same regardless of which axle you have.
I can think of three 12 systems, the syntace x12, shimano and fox e-thru and the maxle from SRAM.
    Hope it helps.

Looks great. Don’t worry about the haters, they are what they are. I’ve had mine for five months and responses have been pretty good, I’ve also been way more relaxed about it than I thought I might have been so I’ll think about something else to have….maybe…..

Wtf is a platue? If you’re meaning a large flat exapnse (or in this example a time of little or no change) shouldn’t you spell it plateau? Rant all you like but get your spelling correct please! Rich, have a word with yourself.

My dad had a towbar fitted to his tiguan buy the vw dealers, who got in a third party to fit it! Shop around, I used a firm in Sheffield to fit and supply the towbar for my touran, 300ish. I have a atera strada rack, mines for three but they do a four, it’s brilliant. Very secure and stable too. Only issue I have is remembering which way round I put the bikes the last time! Old age creeping in.

there is a new product called postcrete which i got from wickes. dig hole, put post in (check plumb), fill to 1/3 level with water, pour in postcrete blackmagic powder. DO NOT mix, sit back and in five to ten minutes your post is fixed!
incredibly easy, depends on number of and size of holes as to cost and number of bags required but i like it.

what about the sx50[/url] i have it’s predecessor and it’s a brilliant camera without the faff and cost of lenses. yes its a compromise but it’s a damn good one. only thing that makes it better is buying a dedicated flash for it.

Usually it’s the frame that has a recess in it at the dropout area.

as matt holme says how did the rear mech going back break the chainstay and so cleanly too?
what manufacturer is it and how old is it? a mate picked up a broken scott (similar place) and had it fixed and it’s probably better than new now!
maybe it wasn’t the chain but the amount of power you’re putting down!

I have to start this response with: binners, stop talking utter rubbish.
At the time your article came out I was having counselling for work and post cancer related stress. I’ve been depressed before and have recognised the lowest of the lows but like others have said I’ve never recognised the triggers or how I get out of the depths.
Though I wasn’t depressed at the time the article came out, I was stressed, I could clearly define the difference and I knew why but I couldn’t begin to understand how I got out of it. The counselling worked wonders for me, as did getting a new job and handing the notice in on the last one and riding and finding a bit of fitness helped too. But to find your article and read it (at a kids disco party, yes crying at one isn’t the usual but hey it was a bloody good article) was another tonic. It was a we are not alone in our fears, our perceived weaknesses or our worries. Your article reminded me of riding with mates, of riding alone and the post ride glow. It reminded me of how much my mind and body are inextricably linked and they both need physical exertion (more than just getting out of bed).
The long and the short of it is that your article helped me, along with other factors, get my head straight. So Mr Binners, thank you.

+1 for Pilates, tried an osteopath who made it much worse. Went to a physio who did Pilates and in six weeks of very regular (every half hour) exercises I was walking again. I kept doing the exercises and touch wood haven’t had problems since and that’s nine years ago. Oh and I went from a desk job to a job that I stand for all day and I’m utterly convinced that helped too.
    Good luck

Thanks to all who posted links. I’ve just lost a good half hour of my life watching videos and thinking ooh I wonder. Then I happened upon YouTube of the tamiya tundra highlift. It cured me of my wonderings, beyond amazing the technology that was in it, working lights, working engine noises, gearbox, someone did a time lapse video of construction (he needs to get out more). And all for a silly amount of money.
It cured me as I don’t have the time to do everything I’d like to now and if I had one of those I’d have even less time. I couldn’t even say its for the kids as they’re not into cars.

took me twenty years to come up with something i wanted. it all has a tale to tell, be it family, friendships, cancer, good times on the beach and having to fight as though i’m fighting a dragon. but that sounds a bit ott so it may be for good times in wales?

i’ve gone for the exact same combo as you’re looking at, zealot 16 and osprey 3l bladder.
first ride i thought b*gger what have i done, pressure points and nigglingly uncomfortable. as i drank out of the bladder (great hose retention by the way) the pack became more comfortable.
second ride didn’t fill the bladder quite as full and released any air from it before putting into the pack, ensured the pump i carry ran parallel tot he bladder handle and happy days. really comfy, all day comfy and loads of carrying capacity. really happy now.
the magnet is brilliant unless you have a pacemaker which could react badly to it’s influence!

I can vouch for the shorts being brilliantly comfortable. Wore them for the dyfi and had NO discomfort the day after, which is a first for me in however many years riding! For the record I’m best part of seventeen stone so if they’re comfy for the amount of weight…
