Not used on Stans but i've run one ghetto on a DT rims with no problems.

Didn't run stupidly low pressure though, did it for thorn punctures really. Ran it at 30psi if i remember correctly.

A great tyre in my opinion.

Got the thru-pin ones here. Superb so far.

Didn't go for the other type as my experience with Shimano DX pedals is that the pins are too small in diameter and get bent way too easily and then can't be removed.

At least with the thru pins you can still get them out by grinding off the pin.

FWIW they're the same as Kona Wah-Wah but alot cheaper.

I have a Nespresso machine and its awesome. I got a basic one for £100 from John Lewis and got £30 cash-back!

They come with a selection of pods so you can decide what you like.

The only thing some might not like is that fact you can only get the pods directonline from Nespresso.com.

It's the best non-coffee shop coffee i've ever had too.

Proper suspension servicing, BB facing and wheel building here.

What is the point in facing brake mounts when using post mount calipers? Surely it doesnt matter if the mount is slightly out as the caliper can be easily adjusted to suit?

    I'd go with Revelations.

Used to run Fox Float RL then Vanilla R on my 2007 Wolf Ridge but had major problms with wear despite regular maintenance……just fitted Rev's to my Orange 5 and they're are great.

Personally don't have a need for travel adjust. The u-turn versions have abit of dead travel due to the u-turn assembly, apparently.

FWIW our upcoming holiday with the White Room in St. Foy is going to cost approx. £1000 for two of us.

That includes flights, accom., all but one nights food, transfers, insurance etc. No lift tickets as they'll be closed!

That seems pretty good considering we shouldn't really need to spend anymore once we're there, i hope!

Activesport.co.uk are showing some at £338.75p.

Got mine from Bike outlet in York for only £10 less than that.

Are these going on your 5? If so then good choice! Loving them on mine. I thought i may have to mess around with air pressures abit but i set the neg./pos. air springs once and havn't touched them since. They feel great.

I can't tell any difference in performance from the Fox 32 Van R i used to run on the old bike.

It is offically closed but seeing as they don't usually do logging on a sunday, and they weren't doing any last sunday when we did the Enduro, i'd suggest it's ok.

No idea how you get up to the start of the descent though. I've only done it as part of the red or black trails.

    Sorry, that wasn't much help!

Don't know how popular it is but 'Police on my back' is f-ing brilliant although 'Train in vain' is great too.

    M&S gets my vote.

They will cover any single bike up to £4000! Just added 'away from home' cover to our policy to cover our bikes abroad (worldwide) for an additional £40 for a year.

We didn't renew with Direct line as they couldn't cover our bikes to their full value. M&S come highly recommended on here.

Should have known someone would come along to contradict me regarding reduced 5's 🙂

Thanks for the heads up regarding the 5 in the classifieds. When i say i have bought a 2009 one, i mean i already have it and broke it in by doing the Brechfa Enduro last weekend 😀

Going to the french alps in two weeks so had to find a shop with one (Leisure Lakes) in stock as the factory lead time was too close to when i'm going away. Besides i had cash burning a hole in my pocket!

It did come with Easton EA30 finishing kit and a Hope headset so i'm happy.

Gary – Thanks for the cheesy riders invite, just accepted via the link you sent me. You lot seemed like a nice bunch when i briefly chatted to you before/after the race.

The comment above regarding their second-hand value speaks volumes about the brand, how often do you see heavily discounted Orange bikes?

The same can't be said for many other brands.

As for being heavy, well, they may look heavy but those of us who have actually ridden one will confirm they most certainly aren't!

I bought a second-hand 2007 frame to see if i liked it over a year ago. I did so i've just bought a new 2009 one.

Orange may lose out in the buying power stakes when it comes to components but most items like that are not going to make a huge difference to how the bikes rides, despite what some might think!

Also, they look the way they do because Orange started off the back of an existing sheet metal company so they just utilised what they already knew and the technolgy they had to hand.

The bikes appeal to me, as does Hope, because i appreciate the CNC technology and those companies approach to design and manufacturing. But then i am a CNC/CAD design technician so i guess i know what really goes into that kind of technology!

Get in contact with MBR and Dirt mags.

Both have nothing but praise for it…both mags running them on Orange 5's.

I also know of two bike shop owners locally running Intense Tracers with it.

    No problems here.

Ordered some of those bargin Revelations on a Friday, they turned up the following Tuesday.

For what i paid i was expecting OE but they were boxed and came with shock pump and pushloc etc.

Great forks, great service and stupidly cheap! Perfect.

Shock dims are 190mm i2i and 50mm stroke i think.

Just curious as to how the V2's are?

They must be stupidly powerful. I find the new X2's on mine plenty for me and i ride the same areas as yourself.

I've just bought a 2009 Orange five so no boostvalve shock but it's still a vast improvement on the 2007 shock i was running on the old bike.

Maximum Propedal setting is almost locked out and on open it doesn't seem to ramp up at the end of the travel so much.

That was my first Brechfa Enduro and looking back now, i loved it! although not at the time!!!!!

But parts (hike-a-bike section) were soul-destroying but i kept going!!!

Thanks to the organisers for giving me the toolbox….that makes it all worth while. It's one of those things i always needed but never got round to buying so i'm well chuffed with that.

Great atmosphere, super-friendly riders and a really challenging course.

Had the chance to get some very cheap Fox 36's but went with these instead.

Havn't had the chance to ride the bike yet. First ride tomorrow then Brechfa Enduro on sunday 😀

    Nice forks.

I just recieved and fitted some Revelations i also bought from Bike outlet. Must have got one of the last pairs as they were gone from the website the next day!

I was expecting OE but they appear to be aftermarket as they came with Pushloc and shock pump etc.

Can't wait to ride them tomorrow 😀

I hope you really know what you're doing…..

I think there's a reason the removal tools aren't readily available.

I would just send them to TFTuned if i were you.

Not all FS are high maintenance….get a decent single pivot and you'll only have two bearings to change 😀

As for who rides what…..WHO THE XXXX cares!!!!! Stop shooting someone down for stating his opinion. Mind you, doing so on a forum with a large population of niche hungry idiots is bound to upset someone……whoops 😛

Oh….and i think hardtails are crap too.

I have to say it's getting boring in regards to people complaining about the price of stuff.

We partake in a pastime that is regarded by most as extravagant….try explaining to 'ordinary' people you just spent £2.5k on a push bike!!!!

I really doubt that companies are out to screw us over….a risky strategy don't you think in these times.

More of you need to consider yourselves lucky to be able to afford some of the bikes i see on here 🙄

    Short rant over!

Should have bought my new Fox 32 Float R 😀

I've given Rockshox Revelations a go, just for a change. 2009 forks from Bike outlet in York….2010 forks are waaaay too expensive for me!

    Hora,

Be prepared for alot of tlc to keep a polished frame looking good. I just sold my polished Five and whilst it looked awesome, it does need tlc.

The guy who polished it said ideally you need to be polishing a frame that hasn't been prepped for powder coating as that scores the metal quite deeply.

Just something to bare in mind….

My new Five is chrome grey….choosing that colour was made easier by the fact it was the only Five that Leisure Lakes had in stock 😀

Never done the Enduro but have ridden all the waymarked trails before so i'm looking forward to seeing more of the forest.

Doing it solo as i know no-one interested in doing it 🙁

Going to be on my new Orange 5 though so can't wait for that 🙂

I'm going to be Mountain Kings as thats all i have right now. I actually like them on the man-made stuff.

Clearcoat wont work for a number of reasons.

    1. A polished surface offers little adhesion.
    2. A chip will allow moisture to creep in and turn the surrounding area milky in colour.

The best thing to do, as mentioned above, is to just polish regularly. I stripped and polished my Orange 5 a few weeks ago, mostly because the powder coat was awful and i was very bored. It looks great but needs constant attention.

The wet weather has made keeping it clean a right pain. I've given up now, going to get it powder coated by Argos cycles at the end of the summer.

Would load a photo up buy Flickr is being weird!

I think i saw the Kona on the Saturday or Sunday after it was stolen! We were coming down the Portway (A4) into Bristol and noticed 2 'chav' types both on bikes but one was also pushing a red/orange Kona!!! One of them may have been on the other stolen bike too.

It just looked odd to me, the weird thing was as we looked over to them, i swear they looked directly at us too…..they just looked odd.

Not much help really is it.

jonk – To run a 36tooth middle ring you need to fit 1 standard shimano spacer behind the BB cup or else the chain will hit the bearing cover and swingarm pivot when you drop to the granny ring.

I found that out the hard way but the frame was second-hand so i didn't mind.

As it turns out, i find that a 5 pedals horribly in the granny ring anyway! The suspension becomes waaaay to active.

I going to ditch the granny ring on my new 5 and just run the outer and middle. Using the outer/middle is actually way more efficent IMO.

Well….Assuming you actually have a removeable core you can use a pair of pliers if its a Presta, thats what i have.

I believe for Schraeder you need a special tool i think.
