Ride!!!!! Just been out for an hour or so near Bristol Airport. Loads of snow here.

I'm supposed to be working from home too today but snowy local singletrack and bridleways are just too tempting!

I'll work into the night if it means i can go ride.

1981miked….Don't sell it!….unless you have to of course.

I'm only 1 ride into my ownership of mine but i absolutly love it (so far!). I bought mine to ride my local wooded singletrack but found it great fun at Afan today.

I love my Orange 5 Pro too but it's overkill for nearly all my local riding and i think it'll be fun to switch between the two.

Steve_b77…i experimented with my forks throughout the whole ride and will continue to do so but i too felt i found a happy medium somewhere around the 115-120mm travel setting, 130mm felt odd. Some more fiddling to do i suspect.

Just returned from my first ride and i'm well impressed!

We didn't bother with Brechfa and did the Penhyyd trail at Afan instead. I couldn't believe how well it climbs!! I didn't know what to expect having only ridden a hardtail for my first year of riding.

I found myself popping and jumping off any little roots/bumps etc and generally just flying along! It's just so much bloody good fun.

I guess i've just led a sheltered full-sus life up until now!

Thats awesome….my first car after uni (2004) was a 1981 Datsun Stanza off eBay for £250 with 27000 miles on the clock!

It was amazing, did huge mileage per tank, rolled all over the place and was faultless for the 12 months i owned it.

Good point Barry….i'm sure i've seen some Fox 32 Vanilla with a Pike U-turn spring assembly inside!!!!

    nickegg

If the lowers are the same length and the bushes are okay, why not indeed.

My wifes Fox 32 Vanilla R's are franken forks also; 2006 uppers/damper unit/spring assembly in 2007 lowers.

The two fork lowers were the same length and they havee been working fine for over a year now.

As Peter said, you won't get 140mm travel, thats governed by the spring assembly length.

Can you not just give 'em a polish.

Any forks i've had i've just polish with Autoglym car polish, they come up a treat.

However, if its a matt paint finish then maybe not, polished Fox 32 Vanilla and Rock Shox Revs with good results.

Forks look worse than they are because dirt gets ingrained into scratches etc.

I had the same problem…..except i'd been unemployed for 6 months had no choice but to accept the offer.

My commute is a 106 mile round trip which takes between 1.25 to 1.5 each way.

Turns out they're the best employer i've ever had, they treat me well, pay enough to cover my travel expenses and allow me to work from home when possible.

We had every intention of moving but looking made us realise we love where we live too much to move so it's a long commute that is tough at times but it's worth it.

If you have a proven track record in working from home i'd say you don't have problem IMO.

We found the Les Arc (Tarentaise Valley) area a great intro to Alps riding.

The trails were mostly no more technical than at home but with MASSIVE descents.

Go….you won't regret it. We loved it so much we're returning for 2 weeks next year.

We stayed with The White Room in Sainte Foy, a lovely resort. Very quiet with amazing singletrack from the door.

Great as a torch and for road riding.

Way too heavy for helmet mounting and the bar clamp is crap if things get remotely rough!

Get some good batteries and it last for ages, even on full beam.

Nope….Born in Switzerland, went to barding school in the UK so lots of travelling to and from my parents places in the UK and Switzerland until i was 16.

Left school to do an apprenticeship as a cabinet maker in Norwich, went to uni in High Wycombe, moved to Bristol after graduation to be with my girlfriend (now wife) and have been here ever since (only been 5 years though).

Love it here but would happily move back to Switzerland if the opportunity arose. But would love to live in the Lakes or Scotland.

-4 over the Mendips this morning. Clear skies all the way to Yeovil too.

Although ABS saved me twice this morning on the icy yeovil back lanes! I just have to adjust to driving everyday to work rather than cycling. God i miss my old 8 mile bike commute!

    God i hope it's number 1!

Radio 1's Zane Lowe has been playing this at the start of his evening show lately too which has helped rasie awareness.

He also played the album in full a few months ago, it was great to hear it in full and unedited after all these years.

    Sold my 2007 Orange 5.

Bought a cheap n cheerful early 90's Raleigh steel framed road bike, a 2009 Orange 5 Pro and just about to take delivery of a Cove Handjob.

Not bad considering i spent the first 6 months of this year unemployed!

Good job you like climbing, you'll be doing ALOT without a van uplift or chairlift1

On our holiday with the White Room we were doing anything from 2500m to 4000m of descending a day!

There would be plenty of trails below around 1600-1800m but that depends on what kind of winter snowfalls they get this year.

Thats a pretty good description for something that you think is nicked, beats the trend in regards to the more obvious stolen bikes if thats the case!

Does seem cheap but perhaps they've something to do with Psyclewerx (who sell Nicolai).

Timmy Commerford is his name i believe. He's a big fan of Intense bikes, as can be seen in the live footage from their big show they did in LA a few years ago.

Their first album was THE album of my teenage years, so much so that my mates and i had a band doing nothing but covers of their stuff 😳

I had all the bass lines nailed!

Fox Van R (140mm) on my wifes bike. Feels perfect for 99% of the riding she does.

A weeks holiday in the Alps was the only time she felt something like 36's would have been better (if only to slacken the head angle).

Not sure what he expects….his fixie type bikes have created more interest in the brand of late than any of the mountain bikes in the range.

Plus didn't he just sell Charge (via Hotwheels) to the Dorel group??

    Woohoo…can't wait to get mine.

Not a knew one though, an orange 2008 frame built up with mostly Hope and Race Face bits. Barely used as my mate lives in central London and only rode it in Epping forest a few times.

Ah good point….i forget most of Bristol is actually to the north of the city centre!

I'm out near the airport so can access Ashton Court,Leigh Woods and coombes like Bourton, Taps, Brockley and Goblin from my place.

I have no idea whats to the north of Bristol.

I should have pointed out the one upside…..bike riding time massively increases!

I rode soooooo much during my jobless time, i also cut a nice new bit of singletrack near me (well, deer has trampled a great path, i just cleared it abit)and had loads of fun riding that although i've hardly ridden it since 😥
