These are great pedals….bought a pair, on offer, for a new bike last year and now have them on both bikes.

Bearings seem to have lasted well through the winter with no problems too.

Possible start point for Pont Scethin route.

I just did a quick forum search as we're off to Dolgellau on Saturday for 3 nights and fancy getting out into the hills for a ride. We'll be doing the Pont Scethin route from the above point as we staying just up the A496.

Mickasaki: I can't see any obvious route over Diffwys. No wonder you got lost!

Seems to me the majority of problems are concerning the previous models…..guess the jury is still out on the newer RX and R1 brakes.

Had no problems with ours..so far. Early days though!

Ivan: Your experience doesn't tally with anything i've ever read about Propel and certainly doesn't mirror my own experiences.

It'll be easiest if you just lean on the fork brace and compress the forks lowers as you tighten the nut on (assuming the fork is on the bike), no need to use new crush washers although you should have new ones in the seal pack.

The Ones are supposed to be stupidly powerful! I can do an improptu endo with my RX1's (with 180mm front rotor) with one finger on the lever!

EDIT: My wife is 9 stone and can do the same with her RX. I'm 12 stone. Something not right with yours Jon!

I only know that as, when fitting the RX, i noticed that the bleeding instructions didn't even mention any of the new brakes!!!

A quick call to Toby at Propel and he explained all so +1 for excellant technical support from them.

The trick to bleeding is to simply lie the bike down, with which ever lever you are bleeding, facing upwards. That way the lever bleed screw (at least on RX/RX1) is at the highest point.

Bled my wifes brakes after shortening the hoses and they've been fine since.

Gone from previously owning M4's, Mini Mono and X2 to running RX1's on my Zesty. Fantastic brakes with loads of modulation and power from the 180mm front and rear rotors. Pads seem to be lasting well too.

Bought my wife some RX and she is full of praise for them too. They're also very easy to bleed.

We havn't run either long enough to give a long term report though.

As Blazin says, a great concept but badly organised.

Did the first 2. After the first, with 1 sections results being adandoned, i thought the second would be better. It wasn't, there were once again a few problems including marshalls leaving sections early!

I shan't be doing another, just not worth it IMO. Just turns into an expensive ride on trails i can ride for free any other time.

Rudedog….are the new frames able to run 140's? I run 95-130mm TALAS on my 2007 Handjob and find it handles best around the 110-120 mark. But i do have a 90mm stem on it.

Great days riding? Yes indeed. In the rain? Afraid not, bright sunshine in the Brecon Beacons today! Sorry!

Just returned from doing the route. It was fantastic! Views were simply stunning so thanks for posting in the first place.

We also cut out the top loop but at the top of Cockit Hill we went down the road and took the first right which leads you around to the singletrack you're supposed to do when doing the top loop.

    Great weather too!

Doethie Valley…plenty of tyre tracks but never seen anyone there.

In a week of riding around the Tarentaise Valley in September last year we saw 1 other rider on the trails!

This time last year i was unemployed and riding nearly every day. I was mega fit but that declined after i started a new job but 10 months on i'm unemployed again and have been riding almost daily for 4 weeks or so.

Fitness is back to where it was a year ago and i've lost nearly half a stone in that time. The dry and dusty trails have been hard to ignore! Ride every day and just gradually increase distance etc and you'll be fine.

The White Room in Sainte Foy near Les Arc. Great variety of trails and they're superb hosts. We went on one of their backcountry weeks last year and are returning this year.

My 2009 (same as 2010 i believe) had a gusset under the bottom tube/head tube, indent under the shock mount on the front of the swingarm and proper Zip-tie cable guides along the top of the bottom tube.

How about the not so well know singletrack and bridleways around the Lulsgate (Bristol Airport) Plateau! You have the coombes of Goblin (very cheeky but good), Brockley, Taps, Cheston and Bourton!

On second thoughts, don't bother, its crap 😉

MP90 are the ones i had…..bloody awful considering they were so easily chewed up by Shimano's own DX pedal!

EDIT: I don't get the comments regarding the 5.10's 'special' looks. IMO all cycling specific shoes look pretty 'special' 😀

I just watched this the other weekend. Really enjoyed it but didn't pick up on any racial metaphors etc!

Hope they do a prequel AND a sequel.

+1 for 5.10's and Superstar Nano-tech pedals. Been using this combo on two bikes since August last year. Been using my 5.10's all winter and they've held up really well and keep my feet toasty in the cold weather, getting abit hot now though.

Wouldn't touch AM40's with a barge pole though! I had a pair of Shimano shoes with identical tread which got completely torn to shreds when used with Shimano's own DX flat pedals and Superstars Nano-tech's. In comparison, the tread of my 5.10's are barely marked.

Pretty sure they do a special short version for just such an eventuality.

BTW…Get them! My Zesty came with RX1's (RX caliper/R1 lever) and they're awesome. Very powerful and have great modulation, look lovely too.

Bought my wife some RX in black for her 575 and she has been equally as impressed as i have with mine.

Thanks for that….it looks well worth doing but i'm having trouble convincing my wife it's worth the ride/push up!

I really want to do it but not on my own….that just doesn't seem remotely sensible.

Well excuse me but from your post it appeared you had purchased something and not recieved it!

..and no, i don't have a link, just Google UK Bike Store 🙄

Should have used UK Bike Store…£135-ish for RX brake with disc/mounting kit….Doesn't help you now though.

    Sorry.

Why are you asking us what we'd like to read?

Thats the job of the editor surely? You're supposed to write what you're passionate about and submit that, instead of trolling on here.

You clearly think we're all obsessed with the need for the latest technology bike-wise so how about writing an article that backs up your views or opinions?

I'm well aware of the ban….setting off at 5pm should give us plenty of time although we'll have lights just in case.

    Great pics BTW.
