Well Tom, you and i have something in common then!

They do look nice and wouldn't stay that way for long in my hands!

Gary_M: Not really got the hump, i wasn't expecting to get grief thats all.

I'm clearly ignorant of what these things do. Are you able to use them as GPS then?

Note to self…..STW is no place for your own opinion 🙄

I'm here because i'm unemployed and have developed a very nasty habit of lurking on here when not out on my bike or job hunting, neither of which can be done all day every day.

    I have clearly mis-judged things………..

nickc…Thats fair enough. I suppose the problem i have is that i can't see the need for one in my life. As a social tool then they clearly make alot of sense in the age we live in but seeing as the only person i text regularly is my wife then a phone that can do a whole lot more is of no use to me. That and i can't justify the contract costs in order to own one.

Wow mboy..it's certainly got you wound up! Getting out is exactly what i do every day when i ride my bike.

I think hate is a strong word…..calm down old boy!

So i'm not the only one then! Sorry i was out on my bike rather than queuing for an iPhone or checking my Farcebook status.

I'll see what they're like when they return, if no different then i'll save my pennies and send them to TF Tuned prior to our late summer Alps trip i reckon.

I'm still waiting to try mine but the dry weather means i havn't had the chance…not that i'm complaining of course!

Dropped the forks into Mojo on my way to Cwmcarn and apparantly that amount of play in the bushes is normal, all part of the Hydro-dynamic process. Strange how it isn't in any of my previous forks or the 2 other pairs i use!

They kept them anyway and i'll get them back shortly.

Snowpaul….In my experience it's certainly not a Fox 'thing'. I've previously owned 2006 Float RL, 2006 Vanilla R, 2007 Float RL, 2008 Vanilla R and still own some 2006 Talas. None of these suffered from this so something ain't right.

Being a Bristol local i can tell you that the rock slab is VERY steep and the bridge he ride along the top of has a massive drop into the river Avon!

Wiper seal needs a clean and re-lube every 15hrs which involves removing the lower forks legs….easy and quick (20mins) if you're not a ham-fisted ape!

Lets hope it's a warranty claim as i can't afford any additional work 😐

I'll give MOJO a call in the morning.

Simon…I ride Ashton Court/Leigh Woods on either a Zesty or Handjob. Both are great in their own way. When it's dry the Zesty is great over the roots and ruts but not so much once it all turns to mud. Thats when i tend to use the Handjob more.

Thats weird Chakaping! Is that after it's been left for awhile after cleaning? I have heard that water can collect in the BB causing problems as there is no drain hole like some bikes have.

Havn't found that on my 514 yet but it isn't my only bike and i don't intend to use it when it gets muddy/wet again plus i'm careful to not blast it with the hose. The BB was the only thing i was abit cautious about but not enough to not buy one!

ruddy…is there enough adjustment on a front mech to hold the mech in the middle ring position or did you do it some other way?

Cranks are standard and just get the BB replaced with the new Enduro Ceramic one when the time comes. Thats what i'll be doing on mine.

Damn! I had this in mind for my Handjob. Not so keen if it rubs when on high/low of the cassette!

As i recall our bike bags were both about 21kg last year (Orange 5 and Yeti 575) so i suspect you'll be over 20kg unless you have a light hardtail etc.

+1 for DT440. Just bought a second-hand wheelset with this on the rear. So far so good although it's very early days. Hub looks good and although it looks big it doesn't seem heavy at all.

Closer to areas of high population and motorway access are probably the main reasons, that and it'll ease the crowds that Cwmcarn gets. That place is ridiculous on the weekends.

I thought chain stays are usually higher on the drive side to accommodate the chain etc?

Erm yes thats true….I wasn't knocking them. Merely saying that, for us at least, it'll be a while before we can afford a week there.

Most of my family are Swiss and i know the cost of living is high. That is clearly reflected in their prices. It's obviously worth it though.

I shall be doing exactly what i did last year, that is all i can say!

alexx…If you've previously run UST successfully then why on earth bother with ghetto?

I ask as i previously had a ghetto set-up but couldn't run low pressures without the tyre burping and/or squirming all over the place. Now have UST on both bikes and it's far superior, certainly heavier (not an issue for me) but worth it IMO.

Sorry…just re-read it and the maximum weight of any single item is 32kg! God it gets confusing!

No need to change your pants…unless your bike weighs 50kg or more (not likely) in which case they won't even accept it!

EDIT: Geetee..Did you get a refund? Your bike would have been exempt from any charges.

Scrap what i just said…scroll down to the bottom of section 10 and it still says Bicycles are exempt from excess baggage charges!

    nickegg

That was in the T&C's last year. Thats not recent although it does say that excess weight charges can now be applied to sporting goods which wasn't always the case.

No doubt it's worth it…i've seen your video's of the trails 😀

wl…I was referring to their package costs. £560 per person vs £349 per person for our week this September near Les Arc.

Smog…You leave the day we arrive.

I was referring more to the likelyhood of snow still covering higher trails and the snow melt causing thunderstorms. What was i thinking 🙄

I carry two tubes as you just never know what might happen, I think i'm man enough to carry 300g of extra weight!

+1 for UST. No need for C02 to inflate.

I have to say that Singlespeedstu's video of the Ultimate trail has really got me interested in Verbier! Off to Les Arc area in September for our second Alps trip but will be definitely going to Verbier in the next few years.

Looking pretty pricey though compared to other destinations but it is Switzerland!

Minion 2.35 was pretty good set up tubeless.

Using Ignitor 2.35 LUST/Crossmark 2.25 LUST on my full-sus and Rubber Queen 2.2 UST on my hardtail. Only done a couple of rides with the Rubber Queens but i'm impressed! They roll bloody quickly for something that looks so chunky! I've found you can really lean them over too, i've found myself really ragging the hardtail since i put them on.

Ignitor/Crossmark combo is also superb generally but Crossmark was abit sketchy in the mud but i don't really intend to use it for the more local (and muddy) trails, more for rocky/dry times.

Each end of that ridge has a good descent IMO but the West end (nearest M5) is more likely to be a push-up than the Kingswood end (Nearest A38).

There's more up there than just the ridge top bridleway you know 😉
