I went up yesterday – slippy in some sections. Caught me out a couple of times, I thought it would be drier than it was and probably had too much air in the tyres. Some serious standing water on the bermy bit not far from the start – snorkel advised :-)

Rio, I don’t know how if the new nano has a physically different charger (looking online it looks the same) but if it’s just the 12v-5v difference you can get a passthrough connector – so older chargers work with new ipod/iphone.

The view card just lets you view a live feed from it with an iPhone or Android phone. It’s not a full quality feed, just so you can see where it’s pointing and get a basic idea of the footage.

If you didn’t get one with it they are about £25 – but you don’t need it to use the camera.

Depends what you want to do with it. For what it is, it’s a good lens.

It’s fairly cheap, and it’s light if your lugging it around. Compared to the 70-300 it’s not as quick on AF and it’s less usable at the longer end, and it’s DX format so if you want/have a full frame camera it’s not going to work out.

I’ve used both and while I preferred the 70-300 it’s heavier if you’re lugging it around which might be important. Try the 55-300, if you get on with it but at some point feel that you want something better they hold value pretty well. I bought the 70-300 over the 55-300 in the end but mainly because I picked it up for £299 brand new in an Argos clearance!

Seen plenty in my time as I do about 30K miles a year, but the worst has got to be in China, during a run to the airport on the motorway there was one guy reversing up the motorway to get back to a missed junction, and an old truck stacked with hay, broken down in the outside lane with a pair of legs sticking out from under it as the driver worked on it. Bizzare!

Thanks for the feedback – ordered a groupset which arrived this morning, 3 days later. Can’t grumble at that, especially as no-one in the UK had stock unless it was £100 more expensive :-)

Yeah, sorry M5 alloy frameset. From what I can see that’s what I thought, there is enough evenly sized frame tube to get either one on, the rear link shouldn’t foul either but the bottomswing would be a lot more accessible and possibly a bit less likely to fill with general crap.

The topswing just looks a bit cleaner though.

Edit: Just looked at the carbon one on the spesh site, and that shows topswing but describes it as bottom swing. Either very confusing, or I’m just being a muppet and getting mixed up in which is which.

Does she have a computer to use? If she does and it’s just for personal playing – get a guitar port (google line6 guitarport). Will happily fire out through headphones/speakers and give a lot more options for ‘bedroom playing’. Loads of amps/cabs/effects etc and you can add free recording software and create a virtual studio.

I’ve never found an amp that works as well at low volume as a PC with decent reference monitors. (Unless of course you have a big house in the middle of nowhere, in which case a valve amp cranked to 11 wins!)

I’d say go for it – but you can get a better deal. I’ve just had one from merlin cycles, if you want the qr RLT’s it’s £315 from them 2012 model and its with remote lockout. I had the RL with maxle.

I’d personally save the money and get the RL – as far as I understand it the only difference is the floodgate control, and if you have the remote lockout there’s no real need (for me anyway). Neither have u-turn, just spacers to step it down manually.
