My van spent the first 60k and 7 years of its life pulling a caravan all over the shop, 3 years later with me never a problem touch wood. The car however needs a new clutch at less than three years old.

If there’s not a known issue with the clutch on that model, take it for a good test and test for clutch slip, if ok then there’s no reason to suggest you’ll have any issue just because it’s pulled. I know a bill like that could write a car of that age off, but you could buy a 5 year old low mileage car that’s been grannied for a lot more money and just as likely have to put a new clutch in it.

I’d be more concerned about decent service history and the engine being ok on a puller, but a big 2.2 tdci is going to minimise worries.

    Stupid, Absolute load of ********.
If a brand wants to set a RRP then let them. If they want to enforce it then let them.

Otherwise the brand gets devalued by retailers chasing their way to the bottom, and you end up in a situation like the bike trade where smaller shops can’t survive. The CMA is actively hitting the people who are trying their hardest to keep competition up. You set a retail price, you enforce it and people will buy from their local shops where they get a good service and everyone earns a crust. Otherwise you end up with people trying fender guitars in their local, buying online for cheap and the shops, brand, and customer suffer.

Fender should be applauded for trying to protect the product and not jumping on the bandwagon of discounting.

The George at alstonfield, Royal Oak in hurdlow and the Fox house on the way to hathersage are all ones I’d recommend for a very good meal close to a very good walk. George probably has the most sense of occasion.

Take the DH. I always take an enduro to the alps, but morzine is probably the one place I’d go for a smash and go big dh bike. There’s some fantastic stuff that something a bit nimbler helps you get to, but if you’re going for bike park then you’ll be far better off on a DH bike and if you start linking stuff up there’s no real long pedals.

After a few days of braking bumps, you’ll just be thankful of a bit more cushion if nothing else. The steep hard stuff if your a decent rider will be a lot better on a dh bike.

I’ve got a reimo, if I did it again I’d honestly spend the extra and put a California roof on. Don’t think they do a lwb version though. Much better bed and roof system.

They all have their pros and cons, but buy the fitter not the roof. Talk to a few converters see what they fit. Get recommendations.

    Edited having checked employers guide

You would qualify for sick pay having been sick for four consecutive days, weekends count as waiting days.

Weekends would not count as qualifying days though, so you wouldnt actually be eligible for sick pay until the 4th working day from the start of the sick leave, so you went back on the 3rd day, hence no entitlement to ssp.

Thats my take on it anyway, unless your contract says otherwise then your making a stand with nothing to stand on.

    Edit; very confused.

I first read it as op was off on 27th and 30th but worked the 2 days inbetween.

Then I thought maybe they weren’t Due to work on 28th/29th. If I read that wrong, Yes- that’s 4 days continuous (assuming it was continuous) so op is entitled to SSP for the 30th.

Not anything before though, points regarding ‘waiting days’ unpaid still stand.

    £18.85 I think and that’s taxed..

I think op needs to come back with some more info!

. If they do not pay him they are in breach of contract – simple as that.

what contract. If they do not pay him they are only in breach of contract if one exists, which sounds unlikely.

No but an employer cannot refuse sick pay on suspicion in any circumstances.

Op isnt on sick pay yet. Employer totally entitled to refuse to pay – again if no contract states. They can’t accuse him of lying about being sick, but it’s not really relevant at the moment.

IME a decent independent is better that a dealer for a lot of stuff. They won’t be a lot cheaper, but you often find a lot of experience of doing things the right way unlike the plug it in approach of a dealer. There you’re paying for the mechanic not the dealer facilities.

I’d drive the hour to midland VW for work on my cars happily, at the moment I’ve been using main dealer for service work on a fairly new car just to get the book stamps as ill likely sell it.

My van gets regular servicing at the cheaper independent but Ill be taking it to MVW for its cam belt service.

As long as it’s a reputable garage and you make sure they’re using genuine parts and changing all the correct bits then you shouldn’t have a problem.

Yours works like mine does, if I am too low or too high, it tells you to add/reduce power. Makes sense when you get the ERG loop of death when you can’t make the power so the erg asks for more power which makes it worse. You’ve still got to put out enough power, and if you give it the beans and put out 400w then you’re still putting out 400w.

That’s my understanding anyway, although I don’t think my old wheel on job is great. New wahoo could be totally different!

A bit of incorrect advice up there.

If you were off for 2 days there would be no straightforward entitlement to sick pay unless you have a contractual sick pay arrangement.

You would still be in the waiting period for sick pay, so without contractual entitlement to something else those day’s would be taken as holiday or unpaid, unless you’ve had previous SSP in the past 8 weeks.

rest of the office wasted holiday days being ill instead.

So would you if you’d had some left – if you got full pay for your days off you’re benefiting more than the others which wouldn’t be fair.

That’s the issue with this, maybe you could say a bit of good will wouldn’t go amiss and they should just pay you to keep you happy, but there’d be another thread on another forum complaining about a bloke in the office getting extra days wages for being ill!

I always thought it did stand for front.

I’ve switched to aggressor on the back for most stuff now but I’m still on dhf front and back in 42/60 flavour for bigger stuff. still my favourite combo for harder riding that doesn’t involve much pedalling.

Get yourself a pair of power meter pedals and a 10 mile tt course. You’ll soon be able to work out the difference. And it won’t be your tubes.

I would imagine it’s all perceived – once you start using gps the picture will be pretty clear.

I’ve adjusted mine best possible and with my strive on I tend to have a bit of overhang on the front still, the front wheel carrier is off the front a little. I’ve done 1000’s of miles like that, once it’s strapped down it can’t move anyway. Never had a problem.

Do not use wd40 or gt85 or anything like that. You need clock oil, and only a small amount in the correct place. Think end of a cocktail stick.

Unfortunately it’s an expensive job to sort, £4-600 is about right for a long case service depending how much over and above the clean and overhaul is required but it’s normally a case of it’s dry and dirty and oiling one part won’t be enough.

I’ll get flamed for this, but I’d be seeing an osteopath/chiropractor first.

TJ will be along to say it’s all snake oil but I’ve had good results, and having just gone from very wonky and a lot of back pain to none via my local well regarded osteopath I’m happy enough.

I can’t recall the name but there’s an unfiltered one, on the right middle shelf in my local. Black crow or something? Also been drinking a bit of their odd lot.

Edit: just had a look online – black star. Got a picture of a crow on it. It’s rather good for the money imo.

The one with the red or purple lizard/gecko on the label.

Yep the knock off kumala isn’t bad for £4 a bottle either.

What’s to stop you taking the £25K you’ve got for the car and buy another one that’s a month old for £25K?

nothing, but it’s not your car. The finance co own it, and they want the extra 4K you owe them.

This is assuming op actually needs gap…

    nickdavies
    Full Member

It’s like new and improved. How does that work?!

    nickdavies
    Full Member

Because your insuring against the difference between what you owe and what the car is worth. A 30k car is £500 a month for 5 years say, at 2 months old you’ve got a car worth 25k you’ve paid a grand towards. So you’re insuring the ‘gap’ £4000 that the insurance wouldn’t cover for example, although some insurers would.

    The rest is a con.

Hammer my guide rsc all over the alps big long descents and I don’t stop a lot. The only time I’ve ever had any issues is when I’ve been in need of bleeding them.

Ace brakes, best of the bunch imo. Run OEM pads and bleed them well and you shouldn’t suffer fade. Codes should fare a bit better but more expensive and heavier, and I don’t think it’s an issue with guides unless you’re really racing hard and long.

Either instruct one of those claim management companies, one phone call from a new number and they’ll be sending you the cash as it will cost them a lot more otherwise, or report to the police. Police can more than likely trace the owner of the phone but probably won’t want to bother. Either way a quick phone call from either should sort it….

House insurance is best if you can, pedalcover cover transport and travel etc other policies will also. Check the terms or speak to the insurers if you want specific cover.

If you can’t get house insurance then the likes of laka/bikmo are good for cover but bloody expensive. 5k of cover with laka is more than my house insurance with 15k of cover.

I had a bit of a hunt and fox use a black spherical washer for their dropper seatpost.

Can’t find sizes anywhere for the size of the bolt, but maybe give silverfish a ring and see what size it is?

Bolt is 241.02.105 and washer is 241.01.040

This can cause complications, HMRC can alter your tax position based upon a bonus payment, as their systems wont differentiate between a bonus and pay rise. Essentially they can view the bonus as a pay rise, alter your tax code if you hit the next bracket for example, then over tax you going forwards. If youre aware of it you can sort it yourself and avoid the issue but it does cause problems. Yes it sorts itself out, but better to not have to try and reclaim it. And yes, ive had first hand experience of this and it took a while to sort. I think bonuses now get deferred though, as they expect christmas bonuses so they avoid recalculating until April.

Plus, not to mention the fact that some people just cant budget – personally as an employer id offer a split payment option just because for some people an extra £500 a month could make quite a big difference, but £5k would just get spunked up the wall! Horses for courses though, your employer might just be being tight! 😂

Once you open it with the key, jump in and put the ignition on alarm will go off. Then you can do as above.

Im assuming its a mk7 not a really late mk6, the 6 is different and you will need your spare key to program the other one. Battery is 2032 in a mk6 though so having read your post again ignore that.

Mk 7 you pop the cover off the hidden door lock, hold the unlock button for a few seconds, then put the key in the lock quickly and open the car. Buttons should then work.

I’d be having a go at that myself if the carcasses are sound. Just refurbed an old bathroom set of cupboards, but if I’d have had time I’d have got my local timber yard to cut to size some moisture resistant mdf panels in 18mm, and pinned on some 3mm mdf to get the shaker effect. You’re only going to have 3/4 sizes in a kitchen door I’d have thought? Could be a fun little project and you can do it slowly as it’s not really urgent. You’d only need a forstner bit for the hinges over and above basic tools.
