Currently have 1 complete bike, 1 donor bike and one build living in the spare room, that’s where they live and they’re normally filthy! Currently got the rear hub in pieces on the carpet and bled the brakes the other day without getting out of my pj’s.

The joys of living on your own… ;-)

Rears gone, freewheel seems fine it’s the ones in the main body that are knackered. Fronts also fine, the wheelsets about 14 months old.

Changing them’s looking more tricky, when you get it apart there’s a metal sleeve of some sort behind them, which makes it impossible to drift em from the back or pull them.

Just cancel it, as long as you haven’t used it since paying for it they’ll be fine & refund you. Just done this myself (not ME though ;-) )

What size? I’m just taking apart a 2007 stumpy in large, newish fox shock to build up something else, email in profile if you’re interested.

Could be a couple of weeks before it’s ready for sale though.

No – it’s their charge for paying your duty and taxes. It’s pretty good considering the others usually charge £15-20 + VAT.

Only way of avoiding it is to have goods sent as a gift, not that anyone condones that…. ;-)

This is easy, you just tell her that you can put it in the next room, but you need to drill big holes everywhere and run purple cat5e across the place.

    I’m sure she’ll see sense ;-)

Alternatively – check your router it might be able to accept a usb HDD, will be a bit quieter as it’ll only spin up in use.

Don’t see anything on that spec that suggests it can actually control airplay, other than the obvious fwd/back etc. You should be able to skip through songs by going next, next, next but not actually browsing the library.

Most of these systems won’t be able to actually control it like itunes, airplay is just designed to be a wireless speaker as opposed to proper library controller. You’ll need the PC/Mac with itunes running to drive it, and to control it remotely an iThingy with the right app. If you haven’t got one, there is also an android app to control itunes for under a fiver. Other option would be to install a DLNA server to stream the itunes library folder to the hifi, then the hifi should have full control.

Which side of the crank ring mounts are you running it on? I put mine where the middle ring mounts originally, had the same issue so banged it inside to sit where the granny should. This is obviously on a 3cog crank though, if you’re running a specific 1 or 2 cog then you might not have the option..

If you do space it and need longer bolts, i got mine from hubjub.

Nealy – yep same one. Did you have to shave anything off the headtube? A reviewer on the SS site mentions radiusing the corners on the headtube slightly to allow for a bit of chamfer on the cup.

Yeah, it’s up but not quite flush. There’s probably enough purchase to drive it out with a screwdriver so might try that. It’s a brand new headset (and frame) so i’d rather not go down the destructive route, especially as if a vice will essentially deform the cup, what’s it going to do to the soft aluminium insert and carbon it’s bonded to?

I am pressing it with the cheaper park press, it’s the pressing that’s got it this far. Maybe I just should force it to twist a bit more. It’s not helping that I have to use the extension washer as i’m sure that’s making it less straight and makes it harder to turn, but using the cheap press the handle fouls on the top/downtube when you get close to the end. Wouldn’t be an issue with the angled arms on the £150 press…!

Download photoshop CS trial from Adobe, create document 2500px x 2500px. Open your 25 images, resize each one to 500px x 500px and drop them into the larger document. Layout to suit.

Replace my numbers with whatever dimensions you need/have to work with to make your mosaic. I just assumed they were all squares, which they’re probably not.

There is probably a mosaic tool out there though!

Simple 4 cam DVR will suffice, you don’t actually need a seperate monitor if your TV will accept a PC output as you could hardwire it in. I use the guys above, seem about the best on price if it’s a basic DIY install.

Remember if you put cameras up it’s going to give the impression you have something to protect… and if you’ve got oiks around it’s a bit of a target for them to smash up.

Running Mavic 719’s on switch hubs, been fine for over 12 months. Happy with mine. Weight as about right, can’t remember exact numbers but I checked them when I had them against what they should have been.

Just ordered a superstar type 2 headset – £31 and comes with 1 1/8th top cup, 1 1/2 bottom cup and a crown race for each included. Not as sexy as a hope one but we shall see how it lasts as it’s a lot cheaper when you factor in £60 for the hope headset + 2 races.

epicbleedsolutions.co.uk also here, worked perfectly and cheap.

Just as good as Shimano and half the price. Just as good as Shimano only it’s green rather than pink (just in case you have transparent hoses)

Not sure how this is 1/2 the price, it’s £4.99 (£39.92/l) for 125ml ( when the proper Shimano oil is £16.99 for 1l from CRC.

Yeah, you just add it on to your BT service to block withheld calls. No faff to do, but I think it’s about £4 a month or something.

(+ the 11 hours on the phone to BT’s call centre at 0845 rates to set it up…)

I use EBC pads from merlin – tried superstar but I bought 2 pairs and 1 fell apart on the first ride. The other lasted 6 months fine so maybe just a bad one.

I’ve always used resin compound – I think some shimano discs are resin only, not sure if this makes any real world issues if you use sintered.

I’m on a large, not an evo but measurements are similar. It’s too small for me at 6’2 and 32′ inseam. I’d go XL, tried the 2012 non evo and it was nice, didn’t feel quite as nimble but anything over an hour of riding it and i’d sacrifice that for the comfort.

Trails mainly open – currently a good chunk of monkey is closed for harvesting and the detour is basically a swim. It’s a claggy mess! I know they’re working on drainage at the moment so a couple of bits are closed off elsewhere.

Depending where you park, ride the dog, then head onto the monkey at the switch, when you cross the railway to start the monkey proper don’t follow the red route right, go straight over the crossroads, up the fire road and bear right up the next fire road. This brings you out at the top of the 2nd last descent on the monkey. Then carry on as usual back onto the dog. That’s the best of both worlds I think, I wouldn’t personally bother with the main of the monkey trail at the moment.

I think the D90’s about the best bang for buck out there, it’s relatively cheap, runs old lenses and just feels a lot nicer than Canon’s offerings, in my hands anyway. The weight’s good too. Don’t think i’d really notice the difference between mine and other Nikon’s or even Canon offerings anyway, for most amateurs it’s more than enough camera. Only thing i’d change mine for would be a full frame. Only area Canon are up is video, they’re well ahead of the game in that department but it’s a camera to me. Anyway – if you’re coming from Nikon I reckon far better to stay with a familiar control setup.

Assuming your username’s also a hobby.. D90 in action in Norway.

I’m eyeing up a pair of X-Fusion Slant’s for a new build, travel adjust 160/130, 34mm stanchions and their ‘top spec’ and the RRP is £469. Makes the 34 fox forks look a bit of a joke to be honest.

Proof will be in the pudding though…. but not due till next march.

That’s about as cheap as you’ll get them – Rose were out of stock when I got mine last week and it was £150 for a pair from H&S. With icetech rotors £213, Rose are now in stock and the whole lot is £190 shipped.

Send quite a few, Airsure is about £12-15 for smaller packets Fedex – 1kg in a box to west europe is about £29.

    Depends how big/where to.

It’s actually dead simple, download the WD photos app from the app store. Connect it to the NAS, then you can view photos stored in the Shared Pictures folder, or upload the photos from you IOS device straight to it.

Works perfectly for me on my livebook. While you’re there, get the WD2go app, then you can access anything on there from the network. I grab files all the time from it and as my itunes library is on there I can stream music straight to iphone from it to play in headphones or through speakers.

Edit: This is assuming the OP title is a typo and it’s about a NAS drive – if you’ve just got a USB mybook then it’s not going to work.

You can get hope m4 front, x2 rear with braided hoses and 180/160 rotors, and adapters from merlin for £292. Full x2 a bit less, just levers & calipers £202.

I’ve just ordered a set of XT from H&S with icetech rotors for £220 and i’m feeling a tinge of regret I didn’t see the deal on hope’s first, i’d probably have spent the extra – they look cooler, feel nicer and there’s not a lot of difference in power.

    I’ve got a mountain equipment helium 3.8 – http://www.cotswoldoutdoor.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/products.detail/code/83120064

Decent enough for the money, use it regularly be it camping proper, sleeping in the car or on a floor. Definitely prefer it with a sleeping bag though, there’s not really enough there to be really comfy on harder ground on its own, but it’s very small and light considering the price.

I use RockOil in 5w and 15w on my Reba’s – not killed me yet ;-)

Can’t say it’s any worse – felt better after I first changed from the RockShox stuff but that’s probably just the removal of 6 months of crap as opposed to the oil..!

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=8399

If you want to do it OEM, I’m pretty sure RockShox 5w is just rebranded Torco 7w.

Yes, maplin do decent cheap inverters for laptops etc.

However – the amount of draw you need for a hoover will be way too much. Get a portable vac!

Are you using an ipod? If so – I have a good connects2 modulator one kicking around somewhere from my old car, far better than a transmitter. Just needs a 12v feed (easily taken from cig lighter etc) and it plugs into the fm input, with a bypass so you still get radio.

Only downside is you have to have an ipod/iphone as it’s got the apple attachment – although you could probably pick up an aux lead.

Drop me an email if you’re interested.

EDIT: Just read the last line of your post…..! D’oh. To answer the OP, Denison are good if expensive. What car/stereo is it? You may find there’s already facility for some form of input on it which you can get a lead fro, which will sound better than anything FM.

Heat seal tape – try stormsure heat seal tape or the stick on stuff.

Or send them to someone like rubberman (google) for a repair, or ask them for advice?

There’s plenty of stuff about for retaping kayaking drysuits.

I’ve got 661 kyle straits, there’s a couple of sellers on ebay doing them about £26 I think.

While i’m posting – maybe try some ‘climb on’ cream. I use it on similar injuries and find it can really help skin not split again. Google it or you can pick it up in Snow&Rock.

Yeah, you apply for V5 from DVLA, and then you need to take it for a VIC test, £35.

Not a massive issue – but you need to be fairly confident it’s kosher – as if it’s a cut and shut, or all the numbers don’t match up you won’t get it approved. That’s without the potential of it being stolen. I’d be getting the seller to do it for you – if it’s a resto and you’re not paying much for it then maybe not.

I bought a cat C from a trader and didn’t even know about it until the DVLA wrote to me! The whole process did take quite a while though, I was driving it in the meantime but was probably 6-8 weeks to sort it.

Edit: didn’t spot it was about a bike so probably easier to tell if it’s OK or not – not sure if it’s the same process but I bet you’ll still be a similar timescale sorting it.

Monkey’s about half closed, the start and end are still open though (the good bits ;-) )

There’s 2-3 hours of entertainment there at the moment, some of the monkey diversion is very muddy though. You can always do it again though!

2 ways of doing it, the magic eye doesn’t plug into your sky box it plugs into the feed into the tv, so a long lead isn’t required. So if you want to hide the sky box away that will do the trick, as long as it’s a direct connection, it wont work if the signal goes through a splitter box.

I’ve got a one for all which is a bit different, it’s a base station with a lead coming out of it with a couple of IR bits, you stick these over the IR sensors on your home equipment, then you replace one of the batteries in the remote with the included rechargable battery/transmitter which sends the signal over. Benifit of these is it works with anything not just sky. Trying to find mine online somewhere now….

Edit: Link http://www.avstorm.co.uk/prod.asp?product_idx=1855&imgstate=0 Oneforall SV1100 apparently! Paid a lot less than that though..
