    Or….

How cool is that for an oyster card wielding MTB’er!

Well that’s my weekend stuffed, Sunday morning ride not the same without a good healthy breakfast halfway round!

You get bonus points for finding the second cafe for a second breakfast ;-)

I’d be telling them to stick that! I’ve got a couple of tyre marks on the ceiling, i’m really not sure how they got there… 8O

Nothing – go ride it. It’s all open atm so you’ve picked a good weekend and it’s going to be sunny. If you go Sunday bear in mind there’s a race on in the forest which shouldn’t affect the trail itself but you might find parking a bit of a pain and the shared areas a bit busy.

Ride the whole lot, monkey and dog, and ride the last 2 sections of the monkey multiple times cos they’re the best… (When you come out of lower cliff, turn left, go up the fire road, turn right at the fork up that fire road and rejoin the monkey going left at the top.)

1 bike – convert the sscx to geared cx and take 2 sets of tyres.

I live in a small flat in the middle of Birmingham and have 4 bikes in there…. priorities!

Rig up some kind of frame so you can store multiple bikes in a corner on their back wheel up against the wall. Halfords do a cheap alloy 3 bike stand which would do the job, then fix something to the wall or a doorframe you can easily paint over to make right to attach the front wheels to. Ikea pan rails are cheap – you can stick one of those on the wall and use small bungees to attach the bikes to it.

Job done and no hard decisions about which bikes to part company with! :-)

I use laundry gel and give it all a bit of a lather up (fnarr fnarr) in the bathtub and rinse it off. Find laundry gel does a decent job without actually having to mess with the tablets, powder etc and i’ve always got it in the camping box for holiday washing.

How big is the rip? I’ve patched small holes using neoprene glue both sides as its stretchy and they’ve held – couldn’t see it working for a large gash though. You can get repair tape for fabric, ripstop tape should hold could be overkill though.

If you’ve got a clutch mech you could always try the wiggly toothed works components chainring and not run mech/guide up front? I haven’t tried one yet but I’m going to get one shortly and see if it actually works.

As above – I’m running same ring, chain and hubjub bolts and it all works perfect.

Don’t forget you’ll need a chain guide really, I’m running a superstar bb mount one.

It’s likely, try it and see! My Samsung does but it firstly depends on power, if your HDD draws power from the USB socket then there might not be enough juice there to get it to spin up. If the power isn’t an issue then you need to make its formatted to the tv requirements and then make sure the files are the right file type.

    Epic bleed solutions kit.

Bleed Kit for Shimano Brakes & Mineral Oil

It’s a bit cheaper on eBay if you don’t make the free delivery. It took me about 15 minutes to shorten and bleed both brakes the other day. I think their kit is better than the oem shimano funnel one as you can push fluid from each end in one bleed (easier with 2 of you) If you need to refill completely CRC do the big bottles of mineral oil cheap.

Bought 10 tubes and a load of lube the other week!

Found a £5 park cassette brush to do the trick :-)

    Thanks OP!

    liner is not removable

Well that’ll make the post ride drive home from Cannock interesting given I normally whip the shorts off and drive back in the liners…. 8O

Well rude not to at that price, question is when one of each leaves £3.02 to spend to get free delivery saving £3, what to get?

I’ve got a c456, not quite the same but sizing wise I’m 6,2 with 32″ inside leg.
I’d say its a nice fit if a little short on the ups, down feels very compact and chuck able, not a gate at all. Running a 70mm stem and a slight layback seat post it’s nice in the leg but I’m off the back of the saddle slightly when climbing. Wouldn’t recommend an 18″ based in my experience, I’d prefer a smidge longer. Doesn’t look silly big, just right.

Frame itself is great geometry I’m very tempted by a ti one myself as I’m really not getting on with the carbon frame, only because I think it’s going to break any second!

I had my first ride at Whinlatter the other week, it was ace but wouldn’t go there looking for a 4-5 hour ride. It was a definite short blast, about 15k i think, 1/1.5 hrs if getting on with it.

Epic kits, I’ve got a few for different brakes and they’re really good.
I’d say better than the OEM in shimano’s case as the syringe makes the bleed easier than the funnel.

It’s 9ct gold, record was a Longines brand in the 70’s, mainly found in the USA. If it was sold in the UK to you new it should be hallmarked somewhere, possibly inside the case back or hidden under the strap on a lug. If your sticking it on eBay etc mention its a Longines brand as it’ll make it a bit less unknown but won’t have huge value.

Careful if you’ve taken it all apart as far as taking the back off, thin gold watches like that become brittle with age due to the high zinc content of the metal to give hardness.

I’ve got one, it’s OK for the money, not really great at full RRP. I like it personally as it’s a bit short so goes nicely in the car and makes a quick bed!

For a regular sleeping mat i’d say if you’re over 6 feet look for something a bit longer, would say it’s decent value for pack size/comfort etc compared to thermarest etc. For a straight sleeping mat my cotswold multimat £20 quid job is more comfortable but twice the pack size and weight.

Not sure if i’ve missed something here (unless thru axle is used to refer to 20mm/not 15mm qr), but surely if you’re looking for a reba price point 1 1/8th steerer 15mm fork with 100-120mm travel then you just want a reba?

    http://www.merlincycles.com/bike-shop/frame-forks/forks-shocks/rockshox-suspension-forks/2012-rockshox-reba-rl-forks.html

Wouldn’t say it was rare, every manufacturer puts out a short travel 15mm fork, and i’d have thought most would do them in a 1 1/8th steerer – Merlin have that on 2013 forks too. Don’t see many on 29’ers though.

Yeah CFH, it’s going that way. Quality is going down, price is going up and exchange rate has been killing it completely! Not just the suits though… it irks when it’s the best part of a tenner for a bottle of philipine san miguel in wan chai!

Still a few out there who are good, but I think the cheaper stuff is no better than what’s in the UK quality wise for the price, but you get a fitted service.

I’ve never thought linen is an appropriate suit material though ;-)

I’ve not used Raja before myself, but know others who have and rate them. I’ll be giving them a try next time i’m in Hong Kong. I have the benefit of working over there quite a bit so get my stuff made over there, my usual tailor’s gone a bit expensive and has started turning out shirts made from dishcloths though…. I’ve been in their showroom, so it’s a legit company and the products look nice quality. You get what you pay for though, don’t expect a £300 suit to be any better than a £300 suit from the likes of Charles Tyrwhitt etc, but it will fit for that price!

Astra estate. I paid £7.5K for mine in 09, less than 2 years old with 20K miles, top spec diesel, £21K new! Drove it for 4 years went all over europe and it was faultless. Didn’t even lose much in depreciation when I chopped it in last year.

All the toys you might need, if cruise isn’t on the car it’s a £20 stalk and 5 mins on the computer to activate it.

Focus estate also good but holds value a bit better.

Yeah, X-fusion was a thought initially but they aren’t out of the box as such, they’re travel reduced and I always thought that was kind of defeating the point of buying a fork that’s had hundreds of hours of R&D on a longer setting – same for the fox forks.

Bos 160 also, will look at the thor forks. Ta, i’ll phone a couple of shops tomorrow and see what they think about travel reduction.

I wouldn’t – used to scrimp and go non toll in years gone by but now I just hoof it down the motorway. Split between a few of you it’s no real issue.

Via michelin is good for planning a route – you can compare a few sections and costs. You can also split it – cut out some toll sections etc where feasible.

Reims/Troyes/Dijon is the quickest toll way about £90 each way, if you want to split it going via paris makes the tolls about £40 and puts an extra 45mins or so on the journey. If you go totally non tolls it’s going to be 3-4hours longer than the quickest route depending on traffic. Diesel price has taken out a lot of the cost benefit of doing this though.

Tip: Don’t move to Birmingham. I’m still paying a grand a year to insure a 1.6 diesel estate with 10 years no claims, no points, convictions or accidents ever, and its in a locked underground car park overnight with CCTV.

Therefore the real issue is with X buying the house from Y, yet we might feel the knock on effect if it goes t1ts up.

It could go tits up anyway! I’d be much happier in your situation than a long chain all with solicitors. I’ve been trying to buy again for a few years and every purchase I’ve agreed on has fallen apart, there’s been 5/6 so now the first question I ask is is it vacant possession, if not, not interested.
