What about the new race sport versions? Can’t comment on them cos i’ve only just received them but i’ve got a pair of 2.2 RQ racesports to replace the old style RQ’s.

Not UST but tubeless ready and weigh in at 650g. I’m not convinced they’re going to be as durable but time will tell, and conti do the same carcasses in MK & XK too. 2.4 MK is approx 660g looks pretty light!

You need the top one 30.9-31.6 they were a pound less when I got mine though!

wait untill you prefer to sit having a wee

27, my experience is similar to camo’s except my ooof is normally accomodated by a ssssst as my trousers split down the crotch.

I’ve not stood up to use the loo for years, I don’t get why anyone does that – just sit down and enjoy the moment!*

I can cope with most of the gels, but I thought i’d try some of the rego stuff from SIS when the offer was on during TdF.

My god, it’s like drinking wallpaper paste mixed with perfume… There was not a trace of the ‘vanilla’ flavouring promised!

Youtube. You can get good videos for pretty much anything on there! SRAM tech vids are really good for explaining how to service their products. You’ll also need 2 tools, an no.1 hammer, and… a no.2 hammer.

Then if you get stuck Venture Bikes in Stirchley will sort you out ;-)

I’d definitely pop down to Machynlleth for a morning blast of the Climach-x trail if spending a couple of days at CYB. I reckon it’s fantastic for a short blast, not worth a whole day mind.

Project – is complimenting a lady’s badger not a little bit too far? I know we’re all friends, but…

Anyway, it’s STW – why are you aiming for the toilet, shouldn’t you be pissing in someone’s shoes? ;-)

Raw would be very cool. Tbh it’s an old frame, it owes me nothing I paid £200 for it and I’ve had plenty of use out of it, it was destined to be replaced but other financial commitments mean I can’t really justify the new frame I want so I’m bringing this one back to life. I might try and strip a tube and weld area with chemicals and see how easy it is to strip to raw and then lacquer. I think given if I paint it its going to look worse than it does now after a weekend in Wales that’s probably not worth thinking about.

Given how much of a faff the bearings are going to be it might not even get that far!

Yeah powder coat is the pro option, more wondering how good I can do it myself.
I kinda like doing it all myself, buliding the bikes is as much fun as riding them and going to the lbs is admitting defeat* ;-)

I use a syringe but you can pour into the lower hole using a rolled up bit of magazine as a funnel.

I’ve got the cheaper park press at about £60 but its not great. Presses cups but as the 2 levers are straight it fouls on top and bottom tube unless you space the levers which makes it faffier.

Puts em in though, and does all sizes inc tapered headsets.

    Edit: linky… http://www.merlincycles.com/bike-shop/workshop-tools/tools/tools-workshop/park-home-mechanic-head-cup-press.html

Why don’t you want to attach it to the cockpit? Can’t see how a coule of zip ties/bands would affect the stem/bars and surely anything else is going to look a bit odd if it’s a looks thing?

What you could do if you want to be creative is replace the bolt on your top cap with an internal threaded bolt, and then bolt something else onto that to mount the strada to? Or just remove the top cap and bolt a home made mount into it’s place after adjusting headset, with some kind of washer to keep out the water.

    How does it mount?

The chainring should work ok, not ideal but adequate.
Just chuck on a superstar chain top guide, either bb mount or one of the seattube mount ones, cheapest way of doing it and i’ve never dropped a chain with mine. No need for anything else really.

You’ll need a gpx viewer for your phone, you can download the route file to your phone and view/follow that way. Don’t know of any free ones but spending a few quid on an app is less than a few hundred on a nav garmin.

Or you can get the £80 garmin edge 200 to let you follow a route, but it’s literally just a black line to follow.

Robin, are you using a SRAM cassette for this or have they released a shimano compatible one? I’d be tempted but I thought they hd decided against shimano cassettes because of the spider and don’t fancy new SRAM cassette and the adapter.

    Cheers

When I did mine I’m pretty sure I opened the bleed nipple more than 1/4 turn. It wouldn’t go in on 1/4 turn, as I didn’t bother with instructions I just opened it more till it went in. Probably best parts of a full turn IIRC.

as mentioned with the epic kit yes you have to remove the plunger from the reservoir end. You seem to have everything else cock on so if you can’t bleed them with the nipple open a good full turn sounds like you have an issue that’s more serious.

What about trying attaching the funnel to the top, filling that with fluid and then pulling through from the caliper end? Maybe something has broken off inside causing a blockage?

Sorry, 26″ wheel. The new one is pretty much everything I want in a bike as I’d rather go 27.5″ but I don’t want to pay new model frame money and buy new wheels.

    Thanks orangewinger.

I can, so you can get bikes in the car. Inverted, front wheels off and seat post out 3 bikes and 3 bikers in my estate. Can’t do that with a remote unless you leave loads of slack and want seat posts swinging off the frame as you load. Mine was fantastic but sacked it off as too much faff, on the hunt for a bargain lever now.

To the op, offerings from crank bros Thomson and xfusion all available, crank bros normally the best cheap second hand option.

I use it but its not perfect. Plugins often don’t work, and some sites have problems especially embedded apps etc.

I’d say its fine for general use but I use safari as a back up, as there are a few times it doesn’t like things. Business use again a few problems with some windows server functionality.

Wouldn’t see any problems with html5 though?

I think it’s ace, no-one’s about, sunsets are fantastic and you avoid the hot sun. I’ve been getting up to Cannock at about 8ish, getting by without lights but not been up in the past week or so, might be breaking the lights out soon.

    Great pic, btw.

Leonardi only sell their products in Italy, so if you are looking to buy one, you need to find a shop like Bagnoli Bike in Castiglione della Pescaia who are willing to ship internationally

Off the review – tried them? Is it not only SRAM?

Just got an order despatch email for the order already received…
Tracking link not working so maybe just housekeeping but I may just find another box of goodies coming to me tomorrow!

(Not that ill keep them, obviously. Although ill be inclined to swap the above mentioned 2 split ones before returning :-) )

If you’re only focused on price the germans seem to be the best. Actionsports.de i’ve had groups from before with no problems and used bike-discount.de as well.

Obviously not so good for returns so make sure you’re ordering what you need. Websites aren’t hard to navigate, both have GB language buttons.

I ran mine at 70mm with 680 bars and while it improved things generally, it did make it a lot twitchier and longer climbs especially techy ones I notice the difference. I wouldn’t personally go as low as 50mm, but if you hunt merlin etc you can pick up cheapy race face ones for 10-20 quid to test it out, I bought a few sizes and settled on 70mm.

*My experience is on a large btw.

I can’t believe how many MTBers don’t say hello on the track. Even a smile and a nob would be nice.

Well I know Cannock is famed for its dogging, but asking for a smile and a nob on a trail is a bit forward, surely?

I’ve got one of those, 120 is normal but I’m pretty sure you can go up to 140 as the top end ones did use 100/140 talas.
If its a fox fork you can google for f120 service instructions.

I’d say if its never been touched its probably shagged, and easier to replace. I run a rockshox reba 120 on mine, and servicing it is a doodle. eBay for a bargain. You could give it a go though, but if you don’t have tools or oils you could end up spending as much on the kit as on a 2nd hand fork and if you’re not one for doing it regularly there’s probably not a huge amount of point.

Nothing at all on mine and its a bit of a state, not much paint on the downtube left and lots of rub all around the head tube.
Looks cooler now than it did new, remember chicks dig scars!

Not a great find and not technically a skip but I went to ikea a while ago to get a floor standing lamp for the flat. Couldn’t really find one I liked, and the closest was about £100. I was going to get it but decided to check out what else I could find in town first and come back tomorrow if nothing else.

Went home and took the bins down to the bin store that evening, and sat in there was a floor standing lamp almost if not identical to the one in ikea. Win! It does make me feel a little bit pikey whenever I look at it though.
