Made myself a ham salad sandwich to take to a work event a couple of months ago – given the 5am start i wasn’t paying much attention.

Whilst eating it really confused myself – i was sure i didn’t put a lump of stilton in there, but carried on regardless assuming id thrown in some nice stinky cheese and forgotten about it.

Next morning go to make second sandwich and actually looked at the butter. It was furrier than a rat’s backside and stunk…. :-(

Search on here there’s a couple of threads.
Mainly the one where Steve at On-One sorted out some +3mm crown races. I thought they had these up on the site for a while? Either way a phone call to On One should sort it.

I wouldn’t – my engines never missed a beat but it’s the worst I’ve ever had on fuel and it’s woefully underpowered in a focus.
At 12 months old you wouldn’t be paying much more for the 1.8/2.0?

Good to see the new ‘Race’ geo – i’d like a bit longer in the top tube on mine.

Not sure it’s on Canyon’s value for money ethos though, the equivalent spec to my AL is £1300 more – and you’re getting carbon fibre frame and a way of altering geometry. Would be interesting to see if they produce an alu version.

Not just a village problem, B1 postcode connected to the Central exchange which is down the road, along with 3/4 fibre street boxes outside the front door and the best they can do is 6 meg.

    Go figure.

Thanks both, I was using Bikehike but when I came to save it the OS Maps had used all their bandwith, so I had to find a different way. Ended up getting a sample gps file, and modding it before putting it into the new files folder on the garmin.

Have since learned of RideWithGPS and it’s fantastic! The mapping is better than OS, and it solves one of the problems of my trial run on the garmin on Sunday which was getting lost slightly off route. I can now set alerts to bleep with the guidebook text just before turnings which is a winner!

Shorts are snug, I’d say a bit tighter than my lusso bibs, but never tried Castelli kit to compare. I’m around 35 inch waist and I went large, they’re a smidge on the tight side on the legs but I have a pair of tree trunks for pistons so you may differ.

After a couple of rides I’d say they’re not quite as good as my lusso core bibs but they’re 2/3rds of the price. I’ve done a couple of 30-40k rides with them and I’d definitely reach for the others if I was doing 50k plus, the pads not fantastic, but I’m fairly pleased with them given the 30 quid cost.

Doesn’t matter, as long as you get new i-spec b shifters they will work. They’ll come with the adapters for both old and new brakes.
The incompatibility is old shifters and new brake levers, not an issue you will have.

You need to spend time setting them up, if flats work for you then use flats.
I’ve always used them but started having knee issues last year. Took a while but back to comfort again now, for me it involved dropping saddle and moving it back a bit, cleats back and in and angle heels in slightly, change cranks to 170 and learning how to ride smoothly!

I had a tickle from this thread as I needed some new bibs and thought for £30 they looked pretty good.
Ordered them from ebay arrived next day and look good quality fit is good. Going to get a set of armwarmers too, would like to try the jerseys but I refuse to wear kit covered in brands and they’re a bit OTT which is a shame.

Between them and funkier I could probably do all my bike kit cos it’s good value, but why to they both have to plaster logos all over it! Most of my road kit is lusso which is much more understated.

32 front with 11-36 will be fine up the peak… If you splash out on one of the 40-42t rear sprockets you can run a 34 front no problems unless you really need helping up hills…

If you stick to the 32/11-36 get a narrow wide ring from works/superstar etc ditch the mech and if you hate it it’s not cost a lot (assuming you’ve got a clutched mech).

I’ve picked up one of the nikon J2 cameras for cycling to avoid taking the SLR out.
£180 from argos special offer, £16 for lowepro dashpoint bag which attaches to the camelback and you’ve got £100 towards biking kit.

Not *that* compact but you could spend that £100 on the 10mm prime lens.

Or just go and buy whichever of the four or five decent waterproof compacts that are out there you like the feel of the best for proper no worries biking photography. My lumix is 5 years old and has seen water, snow, sand, countless dings and drops and is just about still going.

No, be there to offer them a coffee yourselves.

I wouldn’t put an offer in on a house without meeting the vendors (let alone negotiate through an agent) or trust an agent to sell the house for me. If they’re actually interested they’ll be able to ask all the questions that the agent wouldn’t know the answers to and you could hash out a deal over the kitchen table.

8O That would be ringing pretty big alarm bells…

Rock Shox are about to release an enduro specific hose

I’m sure someone will post the ‘not sure if serious’ pic shortly.. but I genuinely don’t know if you’re telling the truth or taking the mick…!

Not worth worrying about tbh but you can’t consider it profiteering when it will cost them more than £2 to deal with your email and process the refund.

    What’s wrong with the saints?
IIRC wasn’t the thing to do with M810 calipers to stick XTR levers on them? Would cost £100 for both ends together.

Depends on head room and fork travel but I have 2 inside, down the left had side – upside down forks at the front with front wheels off and seat posts out. Made a bit trickier with these stealth reverbs though. Then 2 front wheels in a wheel bag between the bikes and the door.

This should give plenty of room for kit and you’ll get to keep the single rear seat most likely.

Powerlocks are fine as above you just need the tool.
Even KMC links are stiff enough to warrant the tool, i’ve got them off without but it’s a pain.

but if its simply changing a parameter then surely it won’t cause any harm ?

Depends on who you’re harming when you’re watching TV not the road while driving…

Wouldn’t the Charger damper be more suited to an HT, in some ways, than anything else?

That’s my view as well – I find the pikes so much more supportive than the reba’s on my current HT. They are stiff and firm but give the travel away when needed. The Reba’s are super plush and cope really well – i’ve got dual flow rebound in there which is a massive improvement. They are a bit soft though, and if I ramp up the air to a point where they are as firm as I like them for general pedalling and XC they lose a lot of composure on rougher stuff. I end up using the lockout more than i’d like to as I always forget to turn it off!

With the pike’s I never leave the trail mode for regular riding. I suppose it’s down to how well the RCT3 damper in the SID’s and Rev’s address this, i’ve not tried either of them. I wouldn’t even consider the pikes normally for this as I don’t want the same as my FS, I want a lighter trail XC bike but the SID’s are £100 more than the merlin cheapy pikes and the revs only seem to weigh a few grams less for having the worse damper.

I’ve used stendec fork grease where grease is required and rock oil from CRC in the correct flavour with no problems.

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/stendec-easy-glide-fork-grease/rp-prod3150
    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/rock-oil-svi-suspension-fluid/rp-prod8399

Stendec, bottle of 5wt and bottle of 15wt will do all your forks for less than £20. The 15wt will last for ages just doing lubing the lowers and soaking the rings, depending on volumes you’ll get about 4 damper oil changes out of the 5wt.

Yeah you can pay debit card. Wouldn’t though, would personally only use a credit card online.

If you drop them an email they will send you bank details and you can make a bank transfer.

It’s all guesswork… Suppose if you add the hrm, power and cadence maybe closer, but even with the elevation compensation turned on, garmin told me I burned 3220 calls on Monday, strava told me 1800 for the same file.

I’m trying to use the cals to help shift a bit of weight, but I can’t get out of the mindset that says every calorie burned is a calorie of cake you can consume and be no worse off!

That YT is great spec but I’d find it hard to love looking like that!
Wouldn’t go for the strive personally – they need the beefier rockshox shock and even that struggles I need to get mine tweaked, plus the higher up ranges are a lot better kitted out for the money but they’ve all sold out. Spectral looks great, but i’d be hanging on and seeing what Canyon are about to release to replace the Strive with:

The mech is the same either version.
The difference is in the bracket that attaches it to the frame – if you look at it it’s blank for the fr version and stamped dh for the dh version. If it’s dh you’ll need the other bracket.

You know you’re not in a posh toilet when the average user of said facilities needs a sign to point out how to work the fairly obvious toilet mechanism…

The best toilet signs in the world are in Thailand.

Variations of this are fairly commonplace…!

Just put the big guitar in, that’s actually 13cm deep at the base, I measured depth at the neck before and it’s tapered. That’s a nice fit not straining the zips at all so I reckon you’d be fine.

I think it’s the jumbo, I can’t see any markings on it though. I’m pretty sure it was this one: http://shop.warwick.de/?&c=35352310036&lang=en&smk=1&modul=shop&site=article_details&article_id=D0720598001322750251A1112&article_category=D0245361001321517444A51408&nm=D0612737001321517442A50670|D0954943001321517443A51254|D0245361001321517444A51408

The guitar in there currently is 108cm long, 30cm wide at the body neck side and 40cm wide at the body bridge side, and 10cm deep.

The guitar I bought it for is a bit larger 110cm long, 29cm wide at the body neck side and 40cm wide at the body bridge side, and 11cm deep. Both fit nicely and are well protected, the neck support is really good as well, saves the head swinging about inside.

(Width measurements relate to the widest part of the bulges, i don’t know what the actual name for them is!)

Tried a decent soft bag? I’ve got a couple of Warwick Rockbags, one takes my 12 string which is a jumbo body so should be adequate for you. Has rucksack type shoulder straps and it’s pretty robust, i’ve flown with the guitar in it a couple of times. Very well made and padded, loads of size options.

Not a cheap solution though!

Edit: I’m talking about the premium ones btw, just looked at their site and it seems they do a cheaper range too. Doubt they’ll be any use for regular travel.

There’s probably a proper answer to this, but last time I had to fill a ceiling hole when removing a light fitting, I stuck a bit of ply over the hole from above, cut a spare bit of plasterboard to fit the hole, stuck that to the board and filled the gap with flexy filler.

When painted you couldn’t see it at all, honest guv…

Very useful Gav – I’d rather not have to pay £27 for a plastic handle.

You’re not paying for it… and the new ones are metal so it’s an upgrade! ;-)

I’ve not seen any spares – there are a couple of threads on here asking the same question if you google. You’ll probably have to get something else if you want to save a few quid. I’ve had a couple of superstar cheapies and they were fine to start with, my 10mm qr rear no longer stays in place reliably on either bike after 18 months, but for £7.99 i’m not going to grumble.

I threw in a bottle of ginger ale earlier, only supplies in the house were 2 cans of lager and a bottle of the pirate’s finest.

I was genuinely confused 10 minutes ago when I poured it and it came out chewy….
