It’s always noisy in the mud, even if you tweak the chain line. Not sure which was louder in Sunday’s gloop, my drivetrain or freehub… The nw will lose its finish in weeks.

If it’s Sram 11 remember the jockey wheels are also nw which helps with the racket. I wouldn’t faff with the chain line, it should be around centre of the cassette which is where you spend most of the time, and it’s unlikely to make it much quieter.

Similar here, it also crashes when I’m typing if I manage to get paste to work. In general stw seems to be very buggy on the iPad, not really any problems on the desktop though.

Love my FF29, but the trek superfly carbon for £1600 is a pretty good deal I reckon…

Think part of that route may be closed Nick while the DCC work on destroying it

Not closed, just in a mess! Plenty of riders coming down RE today, I climbed it and even managed to clean all the new crap to be defeated by the same single step they haven’t touched that always gets me… 🙁

Did you get out Colin? Great day for it if a bit damp in places…

I’ll say you did, there aren’t any brakes on there! 😉

One up comes with sprocket and is a few quid more, hope doesn’t and it’s a few quid less. RAD cage makes more difference IMO than the name on the big ring, not tried hope though. I fitted the one up 16t but i’ve narrowed chain skipping issues to that sprocket so not overly impressed, only about 350k old.

It’s mtb pick the one with the colour that suits the bike best.. 😉

2.34% i’m on so even less than £32?

You said base rate tracker so I assumed 2.34 + 0.5… if 2.34 includes the base rate then yes even less! 🙂

It’s very basic though, so if you pay less at the start and more towards the end or the boiler goes bang halfway through and you miss a few months the compound interest puts the cost up.

At a very basic level, if you pay it off in 12 months, that interest rate of 2.84% will equate to about 1.6% of £2000, assuming that’s the figure. £32 in interest.

So yes, cheaper than a 3.5% fee – £70 in fees. Considering most 0% cards are only 9 months, then also you have to factor in the decreased flexibility or another 3.5% fee on the balance.

Mortgage gets less attractive if you want it on the knock for a long time – at that rate 3 years will cost you £90 in interest and 20 years over £600!

    (Friday night maths E&OE… 😉 )

Or, option C – check your repayment clauses and find out what your maximum overpayment is.

Assuming something like 20%, borrow the money using whichever method is easier (probably A) then pay it back using overpayments.

£150 a month extra would clear a £2K stove in 12 months, and then just leave the overpayments as is and retire a couple of years earlier… 😉

As above, A&B straight don’t make long term financial sense unless you clear it off ASAP, but A is better of the both by some way as it just defers the interest and means you pay a smidge more. B sticks the interest on the £2K on the bill for the next umpteen years. Borrowing on a mortgage is about the cheapest method of finance you can get (aside from 0% cards etc) but only if you pay it back quickly.

Nick – brand new and you can purchase direct from them as a member of the public.

😯 That’s not cool, was expecting it to be a sale or something.

Good they’ve put you right though, for a bit of faff & a bike that looks like you’ve ridden it you’ve got £200 off which can’t be bad.

Arrived today!!! In the following condition (direct from Silverfish)

Context? Was it bought brand new or as a special/ex demo or something..? Didn’t think Silverfish would deal brand new to the public?

Good luck, I had a VW that did something like this, cutting the engine out (granted not bought new, but dealer not interested) and my Focus that was bought new randomly cuts out all the electrics. Neither garage interested as it would never happen when they were testing it.

The VW was a touch scary as everything went, including the power steering and it used to happen mid corner…. At least the focus still drives, I just have to pull over to reboot it.

Where abouts? It’s a big place. Stick to the dark peak sunday, look for rockier routes. Something like the kinder loop which is free to download here: http://www.v-publishing.co.uk/files/downloads/VP-Kinder-All-Weather-MTB-Download.pdf

I’ll be doing something loosely based around that on Sunday, hopefully shouldn’t be to grim.

Wondering if I can run X01 rear mech, gripshifters on a 11 speed rear XTR cassette

    Mainly…

I’d rather run full X01 but can’t due to wheel choice and the XTR cassette is a bit cheaper than X01.

Also cos it’s a bit of an experiment – someone’s gotta try these things out or no-one else would know if it worked.

    This

No-one seems to have tried the other way though, SRAM shifters & X01 mech on an XTR cassette.

    Is a contradiction of this:

Means gripshift is a go-er and that I can have 11 speed rear without new wheels as the XTR cassette goes on a regular 10s hub.

    [/quote]

Is it? Been a long week… reads the same to me? Wondering if I can run X01 rear mech, gripshifters on a 11 speed rear XTR cassette. There’s a few pics of the XTR mech with X01 cassette floating but not the other way round.

From what I read, yeah an XTR shifter will work on the 11 speed SRAM cassette.

A lot of people are right though, it’s still missing the 10t bottom sprocket. Love the lower range of the shimano 10spd + RAD system but I can still spin out going up a gentle hill…

Really fancy a crack at this – can’t see me getting any kind of team together and I ain’t doing it solo.

Anyone fancy a STW randoms team of 10 with a couple of kegs of finest for pre, during & post ride motivation…?

13 months old mate! And stupidly forgot to stump up for Apple Care inside the first 12 months too… D’oh!

Did it come from the apple store? If so give it a go, they should honour the 2 year EU thing, I took a faulty macbook in 18months old ish and they happily sorted it. Mentioned it wouldn’t have been as easy if I hadn’t bought from apple direct though. May well be luck of the draw, and it doesn’t apply to business but worth a punt.

    Anyone driving from Essex area?

Or you could not do the most expensive option and fly via 2 different countries, and just go direct for £48 round trip.

But that wouldn’t be very STW, would it? 😉

I’d eyed this up but no way I could do it solo. How do the teams work, do you just take it in turns?

I’ve got a nomad and it’s brilliant. Happily empties 4/5 tanks on a charge, and it’s normally about a tank for 2 bikes, or 1 if you’re fussy.

Managed 9 bikes before with a couple of extra water bottles & a pond! 🙂

OP, Mark etc i’ve got a large 19″ stump jumper FSR for sale 07 vintage.
£175 frame, it’s had a full complement of new bearings and a full shock service and about 3 hours use since.
There’s an add in my history somewhere or drop me a mail for details.

Those leathery thin big southern things normally rolled with mank like lemon juice and chocolate = not pancakes. Crepes at best!

If you ‘lost’ a Doctor Pepper’s bottle slightly higher up on the same track and carefully stuck it in the wall at the side of the track, you’re an idiot and it’s now in my recycling bin.

I was up there on sunday, picked up quite a bit of crap on my way round. Really boils my piss… How hard can it be for people to take their crap home with them? You got it up there in the first place easily enough!!! 👿

I know Snake Pass was pretty high on that list a few years ago – I climbed it on the MTB on the weekend and it was a little bit sketchy! 😳

My favourite was the one car that overtook on a blind bend with their hand firmly attached to the horn…

I looked at it & reckoned about £650. Too small for me though & I also don’t like the BJ puns! At least you’re getting some free advertising/exposure for it! 😉

Your post up there is about right, buy a 10k car new, drive it off the forecourt and it’s probably worth about 7k.

Netflix with 2 screens simultaneously is £5.99 inc HD and 4 screens is £8.99 inc ultra HD (whatever that is..)

I ditched sky years ago now have netflix and eurosport a few months of the year to follow the tours. Sky really riles me when you pay for it and still have to put up with all the advertising.

Yep, but make sure you grease the axle really well and check it for tightness every few rides.
Had one for a couple of years, it fell out a couple of times whilst riding and the steel axle rusted into the hub that it’s been sat in in the spare room for a few months.

    Have the DT RWS now.

I’d go other way round, did it the other weekend and i’d say the push up Rosset Gill is is a good chunk unrideable for most. I think I rode all the descents going clockwise and there was a lot of pushing up I wouldn’t have ridden down if we’d gone anti clockwise.

Took about 8 hours all in with plenty of stopping, lunch, countless bike repairs etc. Strava:

I’m 6’2 34″ waist and use large lusso kit (got a pair of bib shorts & tights), which fits really well if a little bit short in the body.
I’d probably go large for you as there’s a bit of room in them (my waist is 34 on a good day..)

Play with the angles. Try rolling them forward slightly so the backsweep is kind of aimed at your torso and roll the brakes to a flatter angle. I would find 760 flats far too wide though, 720 is about perfect for flats for me.

This bike does have a 30mm longer stem than recommended, downswept with no spacers so I may not be an ideal example!
