Edit: change the url of this page to inboard rather than onboard and you’ll get it.

Assuming youve wired it up the right way (looks like youve got a line, switched live to the light and another switched live to another switch or light) are your bulbs dimmable?

I thought with these modern led’s if you dont have specifically dimmable bulbs the non neutral switches wouldnt work.

Slept soundly for a few years now all over the uk and europe with the bike(s) single chain locked to the back of a california rack, not had it pinched yet. If i leave it in a town or somewhere a bit dodgy and im not sleeping in it ill stick it in the van, but otherwise no bother. It may happen, but to be fair i‘ve seen them pinched out the insides too!

It concerned me before buying the van, but not any more. I’d prefer a garage but didn’t want a lwb.

Found a big bottle in the garage earlier, probably 2l.

Stanchions printed 160mm, with power bulge I’d go lyrik. Post the serial number on the back of the crown to get the exact year.

Post mounted, straight steerer, air, I’d say 2010 model.

It’s great but really I’m sure we’d all like it to be under different circumstances. What’s baffling me is it’s the first time I’ve ventured out this week (been turboing since work finished but it’s too nice now) and I’m genuinely pretty much the only person in summer kit. How are people riding in tights and coats in this weather?!! Otherwise it’s lovely, people are being nice, everyone’s saying hello cheerily and most are giving distance. I’m out in the sticks though, don’t think I’d like it as much if I still lived in the middle of Birmingham.

Unfortunately back to the turbo next week as I need to ramp up the brick training and I feel a bit of a dick going out twice for excersise.

As far as i could work out from my looking into it (this and the flaky erg mode were the reasons i went for a kickr) it seems to be the turbo drops connection and then automatically reconnects to the wrong mode like scaredypants mentions above. If you’re using different software etc maybe its all getting confused, try turning everything off and restarting. link the trainer to ZC then turn the laptop on and load zwift.

Theres also reports of the zumo not working properly with the android version of zp, have you got an ios device you could try?

What hardware does the rouvy use to connect with?

Not really a lot you can do if you’ve done some googling and been through the basics. If it’s winding you’ve got power, but dirt, wear etc will overcome that and the movement will clog up. Can you move the hands forward normally and where has it stopped? If the hands stick then it could be seized on the strike.

Edit: just looked at your link. If you’ve wound the clock to it’s stops both sides Gently unhook the pendulum from the suspension spring and see if it starts to go.

    Is it an elite turbo?
Quite a few problems with elite turbos and resistance etc on zwift if you do a bit of googling, seems to be with dropping out and not reconnecting properly.

It will likely be dried out dirty and a bit tired, assume it’s not run for ages? If you can wind it fully, it ticks in beat but just stops after a few hours that’s the likely cause.

Have you committed the usual sin of covering the inside in Wd-40?!

Can’t think of a multi tool with a chain tool that just has the basics.
I’ve got a spesh swat tool for the mtb with the chain breaker and links in the steerer tube then a very small multi tool which clips to the bottle cage. If you could get the tool and chain breaker separately would be a neat solution.

The question is… why would you want to?!

The most pleasing job I’ve done on this house is replace the gravel drive for block paving. Gravel drives are bloody horrible (my opinion only obviously) and a pain to keep in order. New house has tarmac and gravel to each side, if it happens thanks to covid, that gravel will be going as quick as possible.

The only way you can avoid the ERC if you refix for 5 yrs is by porting the mortgage with the same lender, so if you borrow more to move again you have 2 mortgages.

No problem in itself but means you don’t get freedom of choice on the market because once they’re out of sync it’s almost impossible to get them back in sync without a hefty variable rate period on one. I’m just doing that now and it’s going to be a bit of a ball ache.

At the moment I’d go for the 2 yr fix it your planning to move again, interest rates won’t be rising in the short term. My only concern in the fallout of all this personally is property values and bank lending – if your equity is quite low I’d probably fix longer term. I’m at 60% ltv and I’m not bothered about values generally, but if a dip wiped out a chunk of my equity and Hsbc really penalised the rates at the riskier end next year it could be quite expensive. If I was around 80% ltv I’d be fixing for 5 years because I’d really struggle to afford the repayments if I had to switch to a variable rate.

If you don’t want sat nav, id recommend a decent single din stereo with all the bells and whistles.

By the time you’ve done speakers, radio harness, sound deadening etc youll easily burn £400.

Skipton car radio do some decent packages, they have a £200 vibe package which comes with speakers, tweeters, all accessories and 6 sheets of sound deadening. Their own brand one is £129 but comes with all the same.

For the head unit £200 doesn’t get a massive amount with a touchscreen which is why i think a single din is better, check here

    VW T-5 Headunit Upgrade Guide

Some good info. I like the kenwood dmx125 dab if youve got an android phone.

Youve also got the xtrons oem lookalike versions, mine is years old now and is a bag of crap. I think the newer ones are a lot better but they’re a punt. I was going to replace it with the kenwood but ive decided to save up for the alpine halo as my biggest bugbear with the t5 stereo is you cant bloody see it in the sun.

Remember the stereo and speakers is just one part of it in a t5, you’ve got to do sound deadening, and do it well. Get the extra door seals (and dash seal while your at it) they make a huge difference. If this covid drags on much longer, im having the cab to pieces and im going to deaden the cab floor, bulkhead, and felt line all the pockets. People say theyre like driving cars – i dont know what car theyre comparing to but its more like driving a bag of spanners.

You could also give the guys at absolut5 a shout, dont have a website as such you can buy off but theyre super helpful and will advise.

Just use the old crown race if the lower bearing is fine. Why would you not want to take it off?

Thanks op, watched this after seeing the post and it was excellent.

I was wondering how long that took them, I thought there’s no way they’d done that in the 23 days given the length of some of the rides and at the end they said 28 days. I thought 5/6 weeks. Great effort 👍🏻

Not a beard trimmer. Thats what i used, apparently the steps are a little bit too big for a blend.

My hair is now the equivalent of a 10-50 cassette, does the job but not much of a seamless fade. A week later and i now have stripes. And as for trying to get the back in a mirror.. what wizadry is that?!

As soon as they announce another 3 weeks lockdown its going to be the same length all over.

Assuming they’re still delivering in this I can recommend Hubjub, cheap as chips and well made. £5.50 delivered for a set.

If not there’s some short kits on amazon for under a tenner on prime.

The big boys make them, but race face/wolf tooth etc ones are £20 a set.

Just done stage 3 really enjoying the Fulgaz experience when it works, feels very realistic. Don’t think I’ll carry it on as I just can’t get a reliable ride, probably my internet but I’m only running it in 720p and if I don’t download first i can’t get through an entire ride. Makes it faffy.

Mid table for s3 nothing special but I see the e-doping is strong on Fulgaz too, durbo does it in 58 mins and the leader is 19 mins. Why do they bother?

    Its not that simple unfortunately.
In order to be furloughed you need to be employed – and you cant just expect the company to take you back, after all, you left.

If they took you back on just to furlough you then effectively they’re stuck with you, assuming your business purchase isn’t going ahead would they want you to work for them again after you’ve quit? And likewise would you want to. If they have to make redundancies after then you could cost money if they didn’t want to keep you on but you didn’t have anywhere to go to.

I would say if you’re going back just to be furloughed, probably not but depends on the circumstances. If you want your job back then thats different and if you are on good terms why not but have they furloughed everyone else? You don’t just claim furlough, its a specific term being used to keep staff employed that would otherwise be made redundant or laid off.

Bear in mind that employers are trying to navigate through this mess as well, obviously some are doing better jobs than others of it.

Those sq labs ones I posted won’t work did some more hunting and they won’t fit in the centre of the bar- 22.2mm.

Left field suggestion – there’s a couple of guys on here doing 3D printing..

    https://grabcad.com/library/short-aero-bar-extensions-1

Fwiw, on my marathon bike I find hands on top of bars by stem very useful position – personally I wouldn’t want the extra leverage there or the reach extension getting your hands further forward in order to grip.

I can do long rides on the tri bike but knowing what a rough road feels like when your in tuck I don’t think I’d be brave enough to try it on the mtb! 😂

Couple of firms do short aero bars which would be ideal but unlikely they’ll fit a regular bar. Canyon and specialised both do nice stubby ones. What’s the dimension at the stem?

Profile do a few left field options too, they also do alloy extension brackets which you could use as a bar, fit them then you could tape and foam them.

It’ll be fine. I haven’t touched my van since last autumn, sold the car the other week and just plugged the van in overnight, fired it up and away to go. Battery is a bit shonky but it always is in winter, have been meaning to change it the past 3 years but never bother and it’s still going!

I’m doing it. Using the lockdown as an excuse to shift some excess pudding and really get back in shape ready for some non existent racing!

I’m home alone though. Sharing a wall with a new born next door and I can definitely see why anyone locked at home with kids would want a drink or two!

I’ve started using Fulgaz, very realistic, you won’t get the resistance with a dumb trainer but you can put it in steady mode and just watch the rider POV as you train.
Would assume if you have an ant dongle for your device you could get it to show up speed/cadence/hr etc.

The vodafone router is a bag of rubbish.
Mines constantly doing that, i cant get reliable connection upstairs or in the garage. One device flies along, another grinds to a halt. I dont think its an AP issue itself. Have you got the app installed?

Check your sync speed on the app, then try changing the wifi channel, apparently the default channels get used for lots of things and especially 5ghz suffers as bluetooth etc uses the same channels or so im told. I changed mine as per their support and it improved but its rubbish again now, possibly down to lockdown and an increase in traffic.

I think its down to some device Data sharing trickery on the router. Yesterday i caved and installed a powerline ap into the garage, and connected the atv for the turbo, firestick and my phone to it. Got on fulgaz, all was fine till it fell over. I then speedtested my phone, 20mbps, the apple tv in the same location was running less than 1mbps, and the firestick carried on streaming oceans 12 in full hd. I can see no logic behind it other than the router prioritising certain devices.

Try boosting the device thats suffering in the app and see if that helps. Im going back to wires for everything data hungry.

Hope use 140mm as the IS standard I think, orange four is 160mm standard from a look at the website. So I think you need +20 to go to 180mm in a Hope adapter, which is the 160mm mount F.

Sounds wrong but 160mm is +20 which for your bike is what you need. Be easier if they all just used one standard.

My bike is 180 post rear, so to fit my 200mm discs I have a 180post adapter. Bloody confusing.

Careful, i had to buy another cassette for mine.
Then i had to buy a chain and 2 front chainrings cos the drivetrain was knackered… £100 i hadnt planned to spend!

The land registry has stopped processing all deeds so nothing will complete until they are back at work – they sent all their staff home on Monday for a minimum of 12 weeks.

Got a source for that? I cant find anything online saying they have closed for 12 weeks or wont be processing deeds. It just says they are working out what to do and will update.

Apparently the council here are still working in a limited capacity so we are still looking to exchange and complete in around a month all things being well. Im not hopeful this is realistic but solicitors seem to think it is, all be it anything can change. A 12 week delay would completely blow it.

I think normally you go off the stem torque value rather than the bar. 4.5 on my renthal and ive never seen a bar with a torque value on mine are all easton though.

    Definitely use paste.

Some of the additives in grease can in theory cause delamination between the epoxy and the carbon. Ive never heard of any issues using bike grease, maybe if you use some of the nasty petroleum based greases from the automotive trade there might be an issue.

I think a lot of it comes from carbon seat posts saying do not grease, you need to use assembly paste because you cant wrench the post up like a metal one. Assembly paste is just grease with gritty bits in. But if you grease a carbon post you’ll need far too much torque to stop it slipping which is far more dangerous.

Trek specify grease on carbon and they’re probably the most experienced carbon bicycle manufacturer so id have no concerns.

Look on youtube theres absolutely loads of videos on this at the moment. Plenty show what they use. Total boat seems popular but any marine epoxy should do the trick. The black dyes look quite cool as pure filling epoxy. I wouldn’t go clear cos you’ll see all the bad bits, whereas black then sand the whole top should look great.

As above, you need to tape the base and you will need lots more than you think. If you want to do a quick job in situ on really small cracks id use something like devcon 5 minute, mix it and allow it to harden for a couple of minutes then apply it in a couple of layers, it wont look as good but it shouldn’t run through the wood so much.

Ive used the colour matched wood filler before and its probably better for small gaps, i’ve also used the oak flooring sealant from screwfix which works and looks surprisingly good but cant see it holding up to kitchen table abuse.

With a £4mil house you’d think they could afford to pay to sort it out rather than asking on Singletrack no? 😂

If I was her I’d stop paying, tell him to sort a fix or they’d be defaulting and losing a load of money. What’s her poker face like?

There’s a lot of Henderson’s in Whitley bay. Including a councillor.

There’s also a funeral in 2012 and 2013, house was sold in 2012.

Probably actually quite easy to find the originals with a bit of phoning round and a few quid on 192.com if they really wanted to find them.
