Yep have one here and it will bang on 2.5 maxis dh tyres no sweat. Massive difference – used to have to take wheels to the garage to swap tyres with my old track pump.

Not surprised sticky fingers has gone, Wan Chai always seems dead now. Will be back in Dusk till Dawn in a few weeks, though I’m always amazed its still there given there’s never anyone in there… Big contrast to my first trip 10 years ago when I spent the first night in there drinking with the air crew who’d just flown me!

if you do star ferry do it in the evening and catch the 8pm light show from Kowloon side. Do an evening in Lan Kwai Fong. As said Amazonia is always decent if in wan chai, if you like live music go stick your head in the door of the Wanch round the corner but take earplugs, every amp is permanently set to 11… Canny Man under the Wharney hotel can be good fun. Post beer kebab at Ebineezers will be the best post beer kebab you’ve ever had – it’s good grub even without the beer!

You could check out the fleet of green rollers at the peninsula hotel. You could take the famous afternoon tea here if you’re feeling flush! Get a few shirts made on Nathan road.

I’ve never done the peak or Buddha despite going a few times every year might try and give them a go this time. You want to do the peak on a day with clear weather.

Keep an eye on your wallet if you end up in the girly bars on a busy night..

Look on here – you need whatever it says and you can’t get one piece spacers for everything, some you need the CPS system spacers. Stupidly the 20mm adapter which is probably the most used one is OEM only. On one were knocking them out for £1.99 last year.

Some other ones will work, I’ve tried shimano and superstar +20mm ones and no joy. The OEM +20 avid fits perfect.

^ I think general consensus is that they aren’t much cop anyway – my one up 16t slips.
Supposedly genuine shimano ones are better if you can find one.

Torque Wrench? Saw a lovely Wera one the other day for £109 i think on sport pursuit.

Edit: Just seen you’ve got one. I’d put £100 of tools towards a wheel jig I think and teach myself how to build and true wheels.

If you can get to a professional catering type supplier you want a bottle of smokeclean.
Oven on, get it hot and go to town. Take you 5 mins!

    Aldi were shocking this year.
They even had a domed crust, promising all manner of overstuffed delight.
A terrible disappointment to discover what lurked beneath was mostly fresh air.

You need that air gap! Whip the lid off, fill with a nice dollop of brandy butter. Lid on, cover in cream.

    Boom.

My SID’s are the same – started off fine now they have become very odd.
Need to pull them apart but basically they started off as you describe, working for a month or so but the lockout got softer over a couple of rides and now basically every mode is the same, open. Sometimes they kick back into working if I haven’t ridden them for a while but it’s a bit random.

Gonna change the damper oil and inspect the cartridge for damage over christmas but it’ll be back to SRAM if I can’t sort it. 2014 RCT3’s.

One flight ain’t gonna get you much, especially if you dont use the miles personally.
Pick the best flight that you’re allowed to, it’s a long time in the air. Best airline will vary depending whether you’re going cattle, premium, or business.

Air New Zealand would be the leading contender if you’re ok going via LAX.

Yamaha. No one makes a better cheap guitar, unless you can find something second hand.
Go play a few and see what you like, ideally spend a couple of hours playing a 3/4 in a variety of positions to see how comfortable it is. Try a few body shapes from different manufacturers as well as a 3/4, you might be better getting 2 guitars that fit you both well then you can jam together!

july i’ll be doing the tour du mont blanc (three countries ) with my mates for a 50th celebration

I had a sniff at this for the big 30 next year but decided I’d never get fit enough to do it. Doing it at 50.. wow! Respect.

Grand raid (swiss) in the diary for August along with a weeks road biking in Sardinia in March, a couple of weeks in the alps in July and as much as possible everywhere else!

Quite fancy the epic Cymru event if I can get out of work. Dyfi enduro if I can get an entry.

I looked at that link, and thought I bet i’ll be italian after this week.
Popped the answers in, clicked the button, and yep – Italy! 😆

I’m a bit surprised they didn’t put an NHS alcoholism link up afterwards…

I’ve just got the IXS trail, I think it’s a cracking lid with great coverage but mainly that’s down to fit which won’t be the same for everyone.

Peak is good for me but I can see why some would find it too long.

POC was nice but didn’t fit as well and was twice the price. Not tried the other 2 in your list. The Urge AM gets good reviews and i’ve got a mate who’s got one and likes it, bargain for £35 from CRC but I think it looks a bit odd…. 😉

Birmingham is the best big city in the UK. Fact.

Show me anywhere else you can live and be in the peaks or North Wales in an hour and a half, lakes or Devon in 3 and if you really can’t be bothered to drive, cannock in 30mins!

Also excellent for the annual Scotland and Alps trips. That there London is 5 hours from anywhere, and I can probably get from birmingham to Dover on a Friday night in the same time it takes to get from London to the m25…. So in summary, Brum is a great place to live if you don’t want to be there!

Superstar multi tool. Better than anything else i’ve tried (i’ve not tried the hexus 2….)

Chain tool alone beats any standalone tool i’ve had.

Let’s keep Richie’s festive charity thread going, Op send me that awesome bottle opener, I’ll mount it in pride of place on my fridge and bung a couple of quid in the air ambulance box! The last secret Santa I got was a Billy Connolly box set, funny but couldn’t open a beer with it…

Crisps. The fact I can no longer fit into most of my biking kit is probably attributable to the fact I’ve eaten a big bag of Doritos a day for about the last 2 months.

This thread is inspiring a replacement vice, I fancy a change. Never tried a frozen kebab before.. Can’t be any worse than the offal they serve at 2am on a Sunday morning on broad street, right?

Couldn’t tell you – you’d have to measure up yourself. Build up with a regular post and try it out before deciding on length. I’m on a large with 32″ inseam.

Can’t take my post out to check but assuming the rockshox length measurement is saddle rails to base of post, I’ve got a 420mm seatpost which is 200mm into the frame. 380 would see me with 160mm into the frame which would still be ok and the 100mm drop would just give me a bit more of the lower out of the frame as I can’t hang my light off it as it is.

If you’re long legs short torso on a medium you could well need 420. I’d want minimum 150mm in the frame. Personally I don’t see any need for going 125mm travel on that bike, I’d prefer 100 on mine but too late now!

180/160 brakes here, on XT’s. Just had to put new pads and discs on and was very close to going for hope race evo, X2 rear, E4 front – the whole drive and brakes are XT on mine and they came from a donor bike. It would be hopes and XX1 if I’d bought it all from scratch.

XT and rad cage 1×10 is so good for the money though compared to the wallet destroyer the hope/sram combo would be.

Forks SID’s if you want minimal weight, Reba if you want something a bit cheaper that doesn’t give much away. I’ve got SID RCT3’s on my FF29 and they’re great when they work (nothing to do with the bike, just temperamental forks..) but i’d really like a lockout. Personally I think Pike is too much fork and Rev’s spaced down would be a good call if you’re a larger rider or want a stiffer fork.

Rims would be down to weight and use, Crests wouldn’t last 2 minutes with me at 85kg. The maxlight wheels are really good, almost flow width and strength for arch weight. I’ve got the maxlight wheels and i’m impressed with them. Yes you can run X01 on them, you just need the XD driver which you can get from upgrade or anybody who can sell you the wheelset. It’s £70 though….

I’ve got a reverb on my FF29 which is 420/125 but If I was doing it again i’d get the 100/380 and save a bit of weight as that would be plenty on a large frame with 32″ inseam. MMX right version as then it drops under the bars on the left and mounts up with their brakes if you go SRAM/Avid.

Countless adverts and editorials in a variety of trade magazines over the past ten years, and i’ve written every one of the editorials myself. Even wrote a 2 page spread once about our product area with all the mag did was slap their writer’s name on it and change a couple of words round but leave in all the references to us.

Had someone offer on an auction the other day, we accepted and then got a message thanking for ending the auction and they will pay after pay day this month.

    👿

Only just started using ebay for the business and there’s some brilliant messages and offers coming in. Favourites this week have been to offer the starting price for an item with 7 days to go with bids on, buyer with no feedback wanting to ship to australia or canada, they weren’t sure which & a buyer marking us down for communication without ever making contact..

Nomad pressure washer lives in the car. Bike gets washed after a ride if i’m in the car, if not I just nip down to the car park and blast it off.

Better when it gets cleaned before driving home though, cos the roofracks give it an air dry too!

Cheapest decent option IMO is to use magento and a template from someone like template monster and have a developer get it all working and iron out the bugs.

Magento free, template around £100 and designer around £250 to get you up and running. Paypal fairly simple to configure on there and magento will run your back end too, control stock and print invoices etc.

Very configurable as you go, and scalable. You can spend a couple of grand plus designing a very good website but with magento you can roll this out after you get going with out starting again and as you need to you can add extensions etc to improve functionality.
