I’ve got a couple but they’re at my parents house that obviously I can’t get to!

Assuming it’s more urgent but if you could wait a few weeks I could either find my spare or lend the original to be copied.

Fit a decent battery monitor with a shunt to the new battery. Not hard to fit. Victron do a posh one with a Bluetooth link so you can keep an eye on it on your phone from the house.

Remember you only get about 50% of your battery capacity, so size up and I would get a good quality deep cycle lead acid. Best bang for buck for most vans, 140ah gets a good 70ah of usable juice which runs a small camper for a few days.

zilog6128 are these ok for self install As I’ve been looking at some of the hikvision ones but was told it would need to be professionally installed. Cheers

That’s more to do with the dealer network – hikvision are pro install only, the suppliers in the uk have to log all sales and they’re trade only. I’ve been struggling to get anything myself, annoying as I want to match the alarm as it all runs on one app.

I’m sure we have people on here who ‘make stuff out of wood’ judging by the ‘what you last made’ thread. Maybe I’ll trawl through and see if anybody does it for a living.

Go look at Sussex timber and have a peek at Matt estlea’s YouTube channel..

(Or don’t, if you don’t want to spend an obscene amount of money on a live edged wooden desktop – but they look awesome )

You can just buy insurance privately and put it through the books. The posts above are incorrect that the company has to insure it, you can still have an insurable interest. You would insure it at your home address assuming it’s used in that way and not just kept at the office.

Just declare it to the insurance obviously (and ensure they will cover it – as they may not, but just change insurer) Ring your insurance company you are with now and ask the question anyway.

I had company cars insured in this way myself for long enough, as I didn’t want to lose my ncb.

I now lease in my own name and that is no different, I don’t own the car but I still insure it.

Ahem… you know that’s a sweeping generalisation that’s not in the slightest bit true in most situations?

All depends on quantities, whether they feel it is a guaranteed sell, selling a few bits online is very different to putting a product into shops. Can you reliably service people actually selling your product? How much shop space would it take up, does it have display/packaging? You need to almost forget the product, and create an opportunity for a retailer to make a profit.

Double plus vat is where you need to aim – be prepared to start out at 3x markup at those kind of prices to make it appealing, as your product is a punt. You would need to work out if there is enough profit in the product to get the raw material, give yourself and the retailer a profit, and sometimes it just doesn’t stack up as a viable product to wholesale. At £15 retail price you would be aiming for £6.25 wholesale and probably 50% margin so you are talking £4 at most of raw cost, can you do it for that and make it worth your while with enough volume? Will the product stand a higher retail price to enable you to make it more viable?

Obviously without knowing the product, cost base, likelihood of returns etc it’s hard to really say anything. It is a very big jump from a hobby business to even small scale wholesale, it’s bloody hard work getting out and selling to put it nicely. If you have to give 1/2 of each sale away to turn 150 units/year into 1500, that’s north of 10k you could spend putting the product in front of more people to sell at retail.

I’ve spent my entire working life on one side of the counter or the other – and I’m not going back to the wholesale side put it that way!

I’m going with vinyl plank tile, but I’m also having walls boarded and skimmed so it’s really more a posh zwift room and cave for bikes and bike kit.

Window went in this week, I spent too much time over the past few days looking at the 200+ pages of piston heads show us your garage thread 🤣

You’ve probably got other open orders tying up your account balance, or you’re making an error when trying to trade.

You’ll almost definitely be cheaper withdrawing in fiat and funding kraken via bacs, no charges going into kraken.

Threads on here said music magpie etc. Like you I tried, £40 or so for £1000’s of £ of DVD’s.

Charity shop. I must of had 250 or so, at a quid each that’s going to help someone more than £40 to me and the hassle of disposing of the 50% they didn’t want.

Iirc my 2007 stumpy had a rp23, what shock is it? It’s probaly sortable by someone like tf, if it was totally fubar and you couldn’t replace it, and I would be amazed if you couldn’t get one off eBay – a replacement frame can’t be worth much these days? I sold mine for £400 as a full bike and that was years ago. Bet you could get a frame for £150 and then you’ve got a spare swing arm too. You’d probably still need to fork out for a shock service.

If you don’t like it don’t invest. Just because it’s not guaranteed doesn’t mean it’s not a valid investment. It’s volatility doesn’t necessarily outweigh its benefits as a hedge against inflation – it’s no different from investing in anything else. Northern rock.. that made a lot of people lose out.

The eco argument isn’t really valid. If you don’t like it’s eco credentials, again don’t invest. But unless you live a green life don’t take foreign holidays etc then why bring that into it – the number of people in bitcoin is huge. I’m not really into bitcoin but the eco bit doesn’t bother me. Saw an article the other day about the amount of money Barclays had invested in fossil fuels – your money can be bad enough for the environment anyway.

Got a nice return on my average buy in on ADA today… something like 0.52avg and we are trading over a quid. Outperforms my stocks and shares by a long way. Hoping for a nice correction so I can sell now and rebuy a nice dip before Monday.

I just had a look at the VW site and am astounded by the rice. They’re asking 50-£60,000 for a camper van.
2nd hand is about £10K, so thats a hell of a lot of depreciation, and therefore a poor investment.

Where have you appeared from.. the 90’s?! 😂

That’s thick end of 40k if not more at the moment. I could sell mine for a profit after owning it for nearly 5 years.

Quite like the offer – only goes through if they reach the target unlike some comps I’ve seen which just keep the money. Might have a dabble.

In eToro it’s a very quick ‘close position’. Is it similar with Kraken?

Etoro is a bit crappy for this IMO, you don’t actually own the coins, and you can’t really trade properly. You just close the entire position and lose out on the spread and I think also quite a hefty fee? Kraken allows you to sell at market, which is essentially the same as closing a position on etoro, but allows you to sell just a bit or all, and allows you to do more advanced stuff. Bear in mind you also have withdrawal fees to get your money back into your Fiat account on top.

If say you wanted to take some profit on etoro, you’d have to close the whole position, then open a new one for the smaller amount and lose out on the spread again, and suffer the $5 withdrawal fee if you want to realise that profit back to your bank account.

I couldn’t get Coinbase to work – uk bank transfers no longer allowed possibly due to the rule changes this year. You have to buy btc using a debit card and then it’s 3.75%, but you can then trade that on the Coinbase pro platform.

Limit ordering – will have to look into that. I’m still a newbie at this game!

Can I do that on Kraken Pro? And is there an idiots guide to what it is?

Google kraken limit orders/fees/ etc, the knowledge base is really good.

Yes you can use kraken pro but I would start on the website, it is a lot easier to get used to. Basically if you buy on the main kraken buy screen, at market, you give them a few percent as a ‘spread’ which is their fee. They don’t charge an actual fee for this but they take a little slice of your trade.

Limit orders essentially say buy or sell at a certain price. I.e you could create a limit buy for 1 bitcoin at 30k, and when the market hits that price it will buy, and if you create a limit sell for 1 bitcoin at 40k it will sell. Different fees for whether you ‘make’ or ‘take’ the order but ignore this for now. It’s basically 0.0something percent which is a lot less, and means you can play at taking profit – market buy/sells end up costing you 5% or so so you need a lot of swing to make it worthwhile. There are caveats to this but the kraken knowledge base explains it all.

Once you understand it all you can involve things like conditional closes which make trading really easy, you can use things like stop loss/take profit orders to make it a bit more ‘hands free’ which is really important with crypto as those of us who can’t spend the day watching it miss out on a lot. Keeps some of the emotion out of it too, which is good.

Kraken is the best exchange for most currencies IMO, secure, has plenty of coins on there and importantly for us accepts bank transfer unlike Coinbase so the fees are very good.

I feel the ‘ride’ is about to get a bit sporting…!

Edit: 2.75% fees means you’re buying at market – try and get a bit of an understanding of using limit orders, fees will drop hugely. 0.0something % maker/taker fees. £120 order cost me 19p earlier.

Basically simple trading platforms cost more money in fees. Never buy at market. Coinbase has a pro platform which is harder to use but cheaper.

The beauty of crypto is its volatility, use an advanced platform and limit orders to buy and sell based on the amount of risk you want to take without having to look at it. I’ve had a rolling limit on ADA for a while now, set a low limit buy, high limit sell and just repeat each time it sells. I’m not taking profit though just increasing portfolio.

Got an order fulfilled today at 0.6, had a .68 limit sell order which I cancelled but I’d have made £60 this morning if I’d have left it. I think it will reach higher on the bounce but who knows.. it’ll probably be worth .50 by teatime 🤣 but if you spend a bit of time gambling on the ups and downs it can be very rewarding.

I’m long on cardano as with a few other defi currencies anyway – so it’s not of much consequence the ups and downs but it means I can keep my cost averages in the right direction.

Bitcoin has had a spread of 31-39 k today, if your balls are big enough there’s plenty of money to be made! (And lost)

26 aint dead, still running my 26 enduro and i have a garage full of tyres for it.

Replaced it end of last year with a 275 and tbh after a few rides i really shouldnt have bothered. Can see the old one getting more use than the new!

It a bit like when you replace a car to avoid potential costs – you end up spending thousands of pounds to avoid possibly spending hundreds. Man maths eh.

Seems like they poked the wasps nest. But to be honest their post is pretty low-handed.

Cant see the replies but why is it low handed? Seemed like a well written post to me, to try and raise awareness about an issue.

Shouldn’t be happening, private land and id be complaining to the police if somebody started digging holes in my back garden 🤣 not to mention what would happen if somebody stacked it. Its not just a bit of cheeky riding through someones wood is it.

    Have you got the bits?
Mine rusted up, they are repairable and you can buy the Tommy nuts separately if you can’t get them off.

When you reassemble plenty of copper grease on the Tommy especially if you don’t use it a lot over winter.

No problem fixing to the wall, just fit back to the wall direct to brick battening will just space them off and lose you room, unless your walls are far enough out to need to add a batten to fix the top edge to. I batten the floor and pack to level as it’s probably got a drop to it and then screw to the batten and then to the wall – bombproof fixing then & better than the wobbly legs.

If you are purchasing cabinets there are potentially other better options – I’ve got IKEA pax wardrobes in mine in the slimmer depth to keep floor space – reason for this is the various dividers and baskets etc you can get for them is useful. Kitchen cabinets tend to be a recycled option.

Straightforward job on a transporter, just get a leisure battery charging kit and mount that up and connect to the main battery. Is it a van or a car? You can mount the hardware underneath the front passenger seat, run a hookup and battery connection point into the engine bay.

Usually mounted under the bonnet for ease of access, I have one under the rear bumper but it’s a pain to get to so it’s easier to flip the bonnet up.

There’s now a couple of very neat transporter hookup options, one sits behind the grill badge but isn’t cheap, vision automotive do it at around £400 and I’ve seen a couple of other small ones advertised but can’t find them now. Honestly the under bonnet is simplest, exactly what you want is achievable but for the extra £400 I’d rather flip the bonnet up!

Just retired my ancient lattisma, served well for must be around 10 years. I like nespresso machines, plenty of snobbery about them but they turn out coffee just as good as a costa, and they seem to survive.

There is a place for proper coffee – for me that is a sunday morning job, the other 6 working days a week i cant be bothered. If younjust want to put a pod in a machine and push a button nespreso is great.

I would say if you want good milk ignore the lattisma type machines and the milk pods, just replaced mine with a sage creatista and the proper steam wand is very good, much better than the lattisma carafe type. The adverts that show the nice stripy latte’s are very accurate – except thats really not at all what you want to be drinking unless you like white foam and coffee underneath.. stopped using mine.

Alternatively look at a cheaper nespresso machine and a standalone steam wand or aeroccino if you want to make a decent milky coffee. Small machine at work and aeroccino, much smaller footprint than the lattisma and does a better job.

Check out the nespresso machine for a quid packages, you can cancel after the first month and pay a termination charge, check each machine but some are very good value.

Post off job on most which is trickier with stealth droppers. I’m a large though. My 26’’ strive just squoze in. 29er wouldn’t go.

There’s just a bit too much slope but depends on bike size – just do what I did and rock up to Ford with 2 bikes in the back and tell them you want to see if they fit in the boot of a focus the same way. No problem he said, crack on 😂.

I’m riding this one out… was going to go in some more today if it dropped below $250 but xrp burned me and I decided to just hold. I had a very expensive phone call earlier, who knew you could lose that much money in 30 minutes!

Pay the mortgage off. It’s probably the worst pure financial advice, cos at the current interest rates that money could work a lot harder for you than that and you have no problem paying it. But hey, wouldn’t it be nice to have no mortgage?

Otherwise think about your short to medium term goals. Do you want coke and hookers every weekend for the next 3 years or once a month for the next 10?

Seems to be pretty much based on free school meals during Covid, (it’s actually based on are they a Tory or not) but apparently you can travel across the country on public transport with covid, get kicked out of your party and not be a prick.
