The only thing I would say, is be wary of new jeans – they can stain the fabric/leather. It’s a bugger to remove the dye.

Best advice on the thread – if you go for it remember this. It’s the one thing you won’t get out – speaking from experience here.

Much better than dingy black, I abused my old car for years with cream leather and it always cleaned up really well with leather shampoo and a conditioner. Mud, oil, food all kinds of stains wiped off.

Much prefer fabric/Alcantara myself but leather is loads easier to keep clean.

Yes, 1501 big upgrade over the 1700 imo as mentioned above. Check all the German sites too, you can often find the 1501 builds quite cheap depending on the flavour and size etc. My ex1501 are 5 years old have been absolutely thrashed and are still great.

Not the quickest freehub pickup though

You may well already know this but you can upgrade the star ratchet to speed that up.

Considering a 105 medium cage rear mech is 32t max and 37t capacity, assuming you have 11-34 then you need long cage as you have 34t max and 37t total. Short ain’t gonna work.

Do we need to do this every time?? Search will reveal about 20 threads this year alone. 😉

That said, pedal cover give me 15k of bike cover and cover in use etc for £350 a year. (Midlands, boring 3 bed semi) However, I’ve never tested the claims process but I will say I deal with insurers a lot at work and if every customer I had was with the NFU life would be a lot easier, they are very good at actually paying out. Amazing how many people just go with the cheapest on the meerkats and wonder why they have problems claiming.

Great idea. Compromise the safety of your family, but you save a bit of cash.

Wow, that’s a very STW quote right there. I’m sure plenty of people carry on running their families around safely in £1000 cars because that’s all they can afford without compromising their safety, or their financial security.

Id be wanting to check properly with them and some measurements, 2.5 minions on 25mm internal rims here and although i have plenty of room 2.8 on 40mm is pretty wide, i reckon pushing it on the bucket style lifts. Email them or one of the guiding companies for a bit of advice.

Similar here, wide head above ears with a few lumps. Most lids rub front and back, my large sweet one is terrible. My ixs trail is really nice, fits really well but totally subjective so try one on.

I’m not sure it always comes straight out – maybe a long term user?

I had one the other week, £1600 went abroad and it was out of my PayPal and into their bank 3 days before it appeared on my statement.

Networkwebcams co uk do a range, but what youre after doesnt come cheap.
If the functionality of the blink/arlo etc is what youre after then its a NVR camera, they process the image in camera, have networking etc so they tend to be bigger as its not just a sensor but all the other gubbins inside, so more obvious. What you need is a camera with that stuff seperate, those guys do the axis range which look good. You put the base unit out of sight and the camera hidden close to it. Obviously needs to work for your location in mind. Try googling hidden ip or nvr camera, otherwise youve got to hide in plain sight and just disguise something.

If you can live without the functionality, plenty of small hidden spycams with sd cards, look at mini dashcams as theyre all pretty discrete and you just need to get a micro usb to it. Motion sense and record. Ive been playing with one in the garage, youd never see it but the motion sense mode only works off power, as soon as its plugged in i.e. to a powerbank for portability it thinks your driving and just records full stop and then fills the card too fast. Im sure the right camera would do the job.

Dont most of them have sensor overide modes?
Mine do, just i think most get hardwired with no means to turn them off to activate it. They dont come prewired so you can just wire your existing plugged cable into it and follow the instructions (switch off for 5 secs then on or similar) when you want to activate/deactivate manually.

Im currently redoing mine, and given that the 2 gang wiring for the hallway is close to the outdoor light wiring im trying to get my head round having a seperate pir with a flood outside, that then after a 15 sec delay or something puts the hallway lights on inside to simulate someone waking up for a look….

Harris, ta but I’m only interested to flip and make some cash (flame away).

You won’t get the guarantee card for 12 months so you may as well buy second hand and wait abit. Or just not bother – not flaming but this is why they’re so expensive because they’re being bought to sell rather than be worn.

Take a look at the nuke proof horizons I’ve had a pair for couple of years on the big bike and they’ve been bombproof.

Biggest perk is they use spd cleats so you can wear same shoes if you’re clipless elsewhere.

I’m going to assume op had an argument with the parking warden, was kipping in the front seat or just in the car, warden has got a strop on cos he won’t move and phones the police knowing what the end result will be. OP clears off on foot knowing he’s DIC, police go for the easy nail knowing he will be close. The little hitlers all have body cams now so evidence won’t be an issue.

Parking warden is a weapons grade **** .

Is it a plastered brick wall? If so just sink some chemical resin fixings in, then you can just chop the fronts off, fill and paint.

It’s just stoozing, people have been doing it for years. Can’t really see the point in it for £100 myself.

If you just paid the value of the credit card minimum payments (assuming 5%) off the mortgage instead, with 10 years to go that would save you £2500 over the life of the mortgage with none of the faff.

Could you not add a dualtech pir to your existing alarm, and have the garage on its own zone set seperately? Have a word with your alarm co, as long as its not a bottom end home system that should be quite feasible.

Otherwise ive been looking at some of the ERA smart systems for this, wireless siren mounted high up out of the way and run from a hub controlled by your phone app, or alexa/keyfob as required in the house. You get a notification of an activation to your phone if youre out and if you have a camera connected you can view also.

    No need for a union… 🙄

Basically, nuts and bolts of this is that the employer has to offer an alternative employment if one is suitably available, or it leaves them open to unfair dismissal claims. Your partner may not feel it is suitable but someone else may well – an hour each way commute wouldnt be a problem for some if it was the difference between work or not. Ive done 90 minutes each way in the car every day for long periods of work, not ideal but if needs must. This way they can treat all equally.

If she refuses, then she would do so on grounds of travelling time and cost making the position unsuitable, which would be a well proven reasonable refusal. She gets reduncancy and company have at least offered the opportunity to cover their back/offer her alternative employment. On the facts youve given I couldnt see anybody trying to contest that.

I might be able to sell it to the missus on tha basis of us being able to set low, fixed costs

This is the big thing with leasing. It’s prerty much fixed cost motoring. Doesn’t suit everyone – the owning a car is useless statement is a sweeping statement that’s really not relevant.

I could have leased my car for the same cost over 2 years as the depreciation on the car I actually bought, which is 2 years old. So on the face of it – you would say why buy? Because once I added the options I wanted you pay for those over the lease so they are hurrendously expensive, I also would have to wait 12 months for the WLTP thing to sort itself out as I seem to have a car that singlehandedly can destroy rainforests in Belize with its fuel consumption, and most importantly I would have to find another deposit at the end of the lease, whereas my car is paid for in 2 years and there’s the deposit for the next one. Different things suit different people.

I had the same concerns, did a bit of research and seemed that the higher end neff, Samsung and all aeg hobs didn’t do this.

Went for an AEG in the end because a. It doesn’t pulse on low and b. I like the controls better, I didn’t want one of the +/- controls on this one you just have a touch scale for each hob. Loads easier and quicker to use.

You can ask, yet if they do, then they could breach the Consumer Credit Act as the 0% is no longer 0% is it. Say the bike is £4k at 0%, and a cash buyer can have it for £3,600. So the cost of credit is really £400, not 0%. I think the shop would rather keep their credit licence than routinely engage in discounting against 0% offers.

Is a pertinent point. We pay about 11.5% I think all told on a 0% finance deal. 1.5% card fees so the net cost to us is about 10% – which id more than happily give to the customer rather than the finance house.

However, I can’t word it like that or offer the option as it’s a big no no to offer a different price for a cash purchase to 0% finance and risks breaking the FCA rules for the reasons outlined above.

So just ask them for the best price.

To be fair, when i used to use my local one in spring hill theyd charge me £10 for a valet, if i went and the car was dirty as yours sounds id give them £15. Wouldnt ask for it, but its 3 guys for 30-40 minutes, £15 is bloody cheap.

Now i have a driveway i do it myself, takes about 4 hours to do it properly and probably costs £15 in materials 🙄

Bit of both isnt it – i thought this was just the roll out of enforcement 24/7 even when the speed limit signs are turned off. Which is a fair cop anyway really – anyone going through too fast doesnt really have a leg to stand on, speed camera signs are up, its 70. As far as i was aware the worcestershire m5 cameras are already working like this. If i see a gantry i go through at 70 and always have, signs may be off but im not risking the buggers getting me!

The 6 points/instaban etc is fake news, afaik its just like a regular speed camera youll just get a nip and dealt with as usual.

House insurance is not going to work if it’s a shared house – if he’s a proper tenant/homeowner that’s the best way.

If not, I had a really good look at this a few years ago when I was living out of a car, and bikmo offered the best cover but it’s substantially more than house insurance.

Dont bother being coy, it will have no bearing on here what happens with your warranty. Not much info has been given as to what youve done and to what.

My take would be its a guarantee of no manufacturing fault, it guarantees you against their products not having a fault with manufacture in the first 2 years. If youve wrapped a wheel around a tree, doesnt mean easton will give you a new one. Keep wrangling, if the retailer wont play ball a word with easton might get you somewhere – free rim or somethi; to rebuild. I split a kinesis rim once and they were brilliant, sent me out a foc replacement i just had to pay to get the rim swapped.

Both planes feel dated now but the 777 is old and the BA planes show it. A380 the better plane of the two and you really want to get off on a journey of that length so hop off at Singapore, even do a stopover it’s worth a look around.

Bloody hell, I’m pretty sure the op didn’t ask for 2 pages of critiquing his reasoning for wanting to redact his personal information from the bin…

Plenty of reasons for doing this. I do it myself especially when I have work details on the packaging.

OP can’t you shred all the cellophane packets into a seperate bag once a month day and then just dispose of those? Shredder should cope with it well enough.

Dead easy when it works well, personally i use bikehike to create routes, then upload to the new files folder on the garmin (tcx format not gpx so convert if needs be) boosh and its done. Ive got the os maps as a basemap but talkytoasters maps are very good free alternatives.

The only issue with the 520 is the lack of sd storage – means youll have to be selective on the map tiles you upload as you wont have room for much on there, but if you ride the sake few areas this wont be an issue.

Laptop has recently packed up so ive been using garmin connect to create routes and sending them to the gps via iphone, this should be dead easy but its a ballache in practice, never works very well.
