Thanks @coconut – I think I need this as I’ve definitely put weight on since last year! I’ll add myself to the sheet and do the weigh in on Friday :)

@zilog6128 – what is “this” – no link on your post??

Sunday evening, Sunday Roast, couple of glasses of red wine – first drink for 35 days. Nice to have a glass of wine, but after a month+ off I feel like I can easily reduce on what I was drinking in December!

Still in, even on Feb 1st! Will see how the month goes…

Also seen similar benefits in Garmin-measured sleep score, resting heart rate and HRV :)

Still dry here too. Honestly didn’t think I’d find it very easy, but I haven’t struggled at all. A few non-alcoholic gin variants have helped, and now feeling like I could try Dry Feb too… we’ll see!

@sharkbait – do you have the details on the place you stayed in Keswick?

    Thanks!

    There’s a like button??

I wondered what those numbers were under the STW icon on posts – I assumed it was just a bug in the software…!

@iainc – are the fonts/text sizes any bigger on the 1040 vs 830? I’ve read they all use the same size text – I was also hoping that a bigger screen would help my ageing eyes!!

I bought a second-hand GoPro Hero 9 earlier this year just before a holiday involving lots of snorkelling and jumping off boats. It’s been great – really fun to use and the kids love it. No additional housing required – all works great.

I don’t use it much, so if you’re anywhere near Twickenham you can borrow if for a couple of weeks and see how you get on!

I’m tempted to a Stigmata too. Looking at a Stigmata and the Open Wide (or maybe the Up, but the Wide looks a better option). Anyone got experience of either?

I’m also riding outside now the weather has improved. Managed a couple of commutes to the office this week (approx 45 mins each way), and will get a ride in tomorrow and Monday.

Probably try 1-2 of the Zwift sessions next week, but it’s just too nice outside to not take advantage :)

Pedals drills last night and Hang Ten tonight (still playing catch-up!). Knee was a bit sore, but manageable, so I’ll count that as progress!

My left knee is still sore today so tonight I might try the pedal drills from last week (that I didn’t do) and see how it goes.

Did most of ‘Cucumber’ tonight – found it ok, but was getting pain in my knee so stopped early. Knee still a bit sore a few hours later – hope it’s ok tomorrow!

Feels like I’m struggling to maintain the level of training required at the moment, but still keen to do what I can. Will aim to try some (gentle?) pedal drills tomorrow.

    >>Do not stop in plymouth, the locals may stab you, even worse some of the enviromentalists may give you a lecture on the evils of carbon fibre. again

Love this. Just brilliant. And true!

I spend quite a bit of time (although not enough) in Dittisham/Dartmouth area. I choose to mess about in boats vs bikes – it’s just more suitable for the area.

Giza completed tonight – didn’t feel too tough at all. Must be an easier one… will try harder next time!

I’ve struggled to find any time this week. I was going to do a session tonight, but I’m keen to do a decent ride outside tomorrow morning so decided to keep myself fresh for that and go for my biggest outdoor ride this year instead!
Hopefully I’ll do a Zwift session on Sunday evening too – let’s see how I’m feeling…

I’m resolved to keep my hand in the training plan, do as much as I can, but not beat myself up too much if I miss a few sessions. I think that keeps things more manageable!

Edit: And I should add, even if I miss a few sessions (or maybe a whole week), I still feel like I’m getting fitter and benefiting from the plan!

@kaiser – thank you for posting this. The term anhedonia is one I wasn’t familiar with, and while I’m not sure I’m fully described by the condition I see a lot of similarities to how I often feel.

It’s very helpful to know I’m not alone, and reading through this thread over the past 2-3 days has actually made me feel materially better (not sure I can quite define “better”, and I’m sure “feeling better” doesn’t equal “feeling good”, but maybe it’s a start).

Thank you. It’s helping me, and I’m sure many others.

I’ve just taken out a NowTV offer – £20 a month for SkySports. That’s all – I don’t have any other paid subs for NowTV, so I think it’s a reasonable deal.

I’m travelling most of next week so going to struggle to squeeze many sessions in. I’ll check if the hotel has a gym… but not hopeful!

My plan to join the meet-up half way through the workout didn’t really go to plan. Managed to complete it, but basically had to restart the workout and then skip until I got back to the point I’d been bumped out… didn’t seem to have any company and didn’t get any chat on the companion app – maybe everyone else was too knackered to chat??!

Sore hips tonight after that. Rest day tomorrow and a decent gravel ride planned for a [hopefully] sunny Sunday.

    Cheers all and well done!

Friday probably best for me too – I have a ‘real’ ride planned for Sunday!

Ham Sandwich completed tonight – not too bad, although I now have a sore hip :(
    Hopefully fine by the morning!

Weekday group rides are tricky for me, even at 6.30 Tues/Wed/Thurs as I’m not typically back from the office until 7.30-8.00pm… but I suspect I’m the exception so go ahead without me!

If we could do a group ride once in a while on a weekend morning that would be great. Last Sunday’s Unicorn meet-up ride certainly helped me find the motivation to start (and finish!) it.

Thanks for the ongoing motivation DrP – it’s helpful and appreciated!

And I bought a fan – wow, what a difference that makes. I can highly recommend this if anyones looking:
    Vacmaster Cardio54® Fitness Fan

Nick (stw Nick) was the one having problems I think.

I’ve signed up too – just sent DrP a follow request on Zwift (Nick Barnett). Not done much Zwifting, but good to have more motivation to give it a go!

I’m pretty sure that – if your Strava and/or Komoot account is linked to your Garmin Connect account – any routes or activities are automatically sync’d now without needing any IQ app stuff. So even a non-Bluetooth Garmin (like my 800 in the classifieds 😉) can get routes. You just need to plug it in to your laptop to sync rather than connect to your phone with Bluetooth.

I have an 800 that I no longer use – all works fine. Can do head unit, and probably a few sensors (not sure what I have – can check) for £60 posted if anyone is interested.
I’m not at home until next week, but can post Wed/Thursday next week.

    PM me if interested.

He’s done quite a few adventure style events, but nothing this big. Check out the EF Gone Racing stuff on YouTube – Badlands, GBDuro etc. He comes across well.

Really hope he pulls this off – about 5500km unsupported vs the ‘regular’ TdF of about 3500km. And he’s hoping to get to Paris around the same time!!

We have a Decathlon one – 10′ I think. Seems good quality and lighter than the TwoBareFeet one we already had, so just ordered a couple more.

Avoid Cool-surf/Cool-snow – no boards in stock and if you order direct from them lots of people are getting an import/VAT bill on top.

OK – I’m in. The one before Christmas was good, but since then all my weight (and more) has returned. Time for a focussed effort for summer!

    Thanks for setting up!

Hi – thanks for the feedback. Just to be clear, I’m not looking for coaching for myself – not at that level anyway – but researching options and various places that offer this type of coaching.

A friend of mine has a connection to a pro-level cycle team and is exploring options for setting something up alongside the team. Could be really cool if they can tap-in to the pro-coaching setup etc… but not sure how big the market is for this kind of stuff.

Thanks for the pointers so far – keep them coming!
