tbh if i went the path of say a nvq type thing, i would be hoping to try and go in on say year 2 apprentice level money whilst working along side someone, that was what i was hoping for.

i think you would have to either have the knack or just balls to go out straight away and give it a bash without a little experience along side someone.

but thanks for your advice, was pretty sound actually.

    ………………..

Is there more money to be had going self employed as a NDT technician. just had a look on the british site and they say to expect around 16,000 once you are first completed uni? Or apprenticeship.?

    thanks for your valid points.

ALPIN, thanks for your reply. interesting to here from someone in the same type of situation.

for comparison i am paying out the same as what i did in the uk. so 900 a month in uk and 900 euro here.

my day also is a little shorter on fridays but i really do not mind to work longer if i am chasing money if that makes sense.

i used to come to work earlier and leave later to ensure i made that extra 1000-1500 bonus per month.

my life here is good. i ride dh so its the perfect place. its just i want to ensure in 4 years or so time i want to be able to support and provide yet still have a very comfortable life for family.

now i believe also that although its hard to come across work in the uk, if your good at your job and your well priced you will mostly stay above the rest if you use your skills.

for eg. my brother works for a firm mon-fri earning his salary, yet he installs bathrooms which he has managed to organise tilers, gas engineers, etc etc to all come in once his installed and take the majority of the cash. Also does a weekend call out service which then leads on to more private work.

in the last 2 months alone he has managed to buy him self a brand new vito and kit it out just from private weekend call outs.

so if you do want to work and willing its there. well in our area i guess. hence the idea of retraining into something with amazing potential.

    regards

    nick

My plan had been for us to go for a walk up bidean nam bian in the snow on new years day and me to propose at the top.

What happened was that we were in the pub watching Liverpool V Southampton on the 28th of December and at half time, my mate goes to the toilet and the now wife says to me “I think we should get married” to which I responded “OK then”. Mate came back from the toilet and I asked if he wanted to be my best man. Nine weeks later we were married.

seriously that fukking made me laugh!! lol

    how does this work guys?

im looking for insurance for my dh bike too..

But at what point is it not insured?

for example. when im camping and the bike is chained to another bike out side?

or i finished the run, go to the toilet and leave the bike outside type thing??

how hard is it going to become to justify when its stolen.?

haha, ive just bought clarkes and fitted them to my codes. they fit no question but dont go for sintered. Ive run now 4 dh runs and they still arent bedded in.

Go for organic and should be all good.

cant go wrong for 6 pound.

    compared to avids bollox prices!!

yes a kombi is a good idea BUT i got to put a dirty muddy bike then into it and alot of faffing which is why i do like the bike rack as a posed to putting the bike in the car.

i like the small size to be honest but when you get a nice medium van for the same price its tempting.

anyone got any pics of bikes in a caddy…. i got 2 dh bikes i would need to get in and all our kit.

so be good to see one

    thanks all

the problem is the body armor has this and the shin pads also started within 6 months after buying it. i got the shin pads sewn up and they are going in other places now and just dont want the same saga.

just don’t think its too great tbh and will be probably look for another brand next time.

The people who have the least problems, are the ones who clean their bike “when it needs it” and other than that leave well alone bar periodic maintenance (ie. a strip down once every 6 months or so) – and who go and enjoy riding their bike.

The ones who have the most problems are the inverterate tinkerers, who cannot leave the fking thing alone, constantly adjusting things, convinced something somewhere is “not quite right”, constantly taking things off, putting them back on, cleaning them meticulously and taking the thing half apart after every ride to do all the maintenance that “needs” to be done, that everyone else does once every six months.

Basically, its the constantly fking around with stuff that knackers it! leave it alone and if it aint broke, don’t fix it!

    completely agree!!!!

ive got code 5’s and been great! no problems!!

but i am worried about what people write about avids so think if the day comes and the start to give problems might go over and try saints.

my problem is i want a very powerfull brake as i like to ride fast and brake as quick as possible.

can anyone else reccomend a strong brake? i find my codes power great..
