On that budget you could get a decent E class estate diesel.

out of interest, how many of the people on here who prefer the sound of vinyl (just sound, not the experience) are DJs or ex-DJs?

I really should get round to ripping all my vinyl

It took me six months just to listen to all the music on my iPod.

Even listening just once to every piece of vinyl I own, never mind ripping it, would take much longer. And I’m sure some of it wouldn’t be as good as I remember.

Sue_W – most of the benefits of fish oil can also be found in flaxseed oil, which is where I got my Omega3 & vitamin E when veggie. Not sure if it would be relevant to Sjögren’s Syndrome if you did want to go veggie. Ask your GP?

I’m trying to avoid them both myself this time round.

A30 has quite a wide area marked off from traffic, better than many cycle lanes. do see a stupid amount of end to Enders looking miserable on it though.

For sections of the A9 you can use the old road alongside the new one. Takes you past the Dalwhinnie distillery too. Don’t drink any whisky made in 1993. I know what’s in their water o_O

I’ve lost one pump and destroyed one phone as they’ve fallen out of jersey pockets (hands on the drops in both cases). how do you lot do it?

    A30 to Okehampton

    cross country to Bristol.

    A49 to Preston.

    A6 to Carlisle

    A7 or Eskdalemuir to Edinburgh

A9 the rest of the way

    circa 860 miles

Soy is a complete protein, and there’s more to it than tofu, for instance miso paste (try seafood miso soup).

This book is good for ideas…

used to have one just to ding at the annoying type of ramblers who would say “you should have a bell”.

these days living in the South I just shout “howdo” for comedy northern effect.

Nick 3216, do your pedals fall off regularly ? (Or hubs)

No, I just don’t have a geared road bike anymore. Though I do take advantage of a freewheel.

while you’ve got the dictionary handy check the definitions of amateur and professional instead of only those sources that suit you

Unless you are being paid to do it, it is only a hobby.

No, that’s the difference between amateur and professional, that is, as a profession. Which is not to say that the amateurs don’t treat it as seriously as the professional.

Bloody hell I agree with cynic-al for once 😉

double laps in the night gives you all more time to sleep. at an hour a lap you get a six hour window. you can’t sleep the first hour cos you’re still buzzing, and being woken up an hour before you’re due back out is a killer. It’s better than just three hours to calm down, sleep, wake up though.

do not fall out over missed changes in the handover area, unless you’re top three.

White shoes are only inappropriate if your legs can’t cash the cheques they write. they are fab. I know I’m on a road section in this picture but these shoes were the ones I wore for dusk til dawn last year.

    digital for convenience

    vinyl for experience

too much vinyl to purchase it all on digital (about 9 feet of shelf space), plus some of my stuff is only available on vinyl even now.

    I’m 43.

Just get Shimano. If you’re an equipment destroyer it really is your best bet. I’m impressed at that Time. I know singlespeeder gear mashers who used them for years with no problem. even they use Shimano now though.

Lycra mainly. Baggies sometimes, but never on skinny tyres.

Also known to mix lycra kneewarmers with baggy shorts.

    Kind of baggy-curious

Oh, and always skinny jeans in London.

Venison pie, blonde beer, proper mug of tea at the Pack Horse, Crowdicote, followed by a night ride through Dovedale and another, welcome, cup of tea at Pats.

Well done to Aston Martin for getting the first team entry in. The suit and bow tie was well posh.
