If you can get the forks too it will be more rideable.

Wow, singlespeeds without ten days of kit on them are light!

    Mathematically yes.
In the eyes of the zealot No.

I’m sure track cyclists make a case for different chainring/cog sizes with the same ratio feeling different.

I’d get another bike from Rick Hunter like a shot.

Revelate Viscacha and bar mounted carrier loaded for 8 day trip. North Face bum bag clips to the Revelate bar mounted carrier for ease of access to everyday stuff.

For longer trips I’d like a frame bag to carry heavy calorific food items (cheese, chorizo etc) within the main triangle. Obviously it’d have to be custom to fit under curvy top tube.

    Should be easily beatable.

If you check it out I’m on Mud Mads, because that’s what I usually run on Snaggletooth, and I had been thinking of WHW and Great Glen cycle route. The weather called time on WHW plans, which was probably for the best as I was talking to two lads in An Grearasdan with tales of 4 inches of snow overnight. That wouldn’t have been fun in a bivvy and 0 degree rated sleeping bag. Then at Spean Bridge my pedals bearings started to collapse so I nursed it up the road to Inverness. The lads at Highland Bicycle Co sold me a fresh pair of, ahem, egg beaters. Most predictable failure of the trip?

The full tale will eventually go up on http://www.32sixteen.com

Or you can check my tweets of the trip here http://www.twitter.com/nick3216

Oh, I can’t afford to fix the Pompino this month so that’s probably it for my road miles this month. Should be easily beatable.

Edit: beaten to it by Drac. Cheers fella.

That was mainly my LEJOG trip. Solo. Unsupported. Singlespeed. 8 days 10 hours 22 minutes.

    Ten days kit

I visited The Lizard and Dunnet Head on the way.

55miles was a trip into London on April 1 to watch the Rond Van Vlanderen at Look Mum No Hands. It was supposed to be nearer 100, but I did a Samuri and snapped my forks.

they’re wearing ties. A chap had to have standards

Saw this pic by Loch Ness this week. If you’re about to die trying to set the world water speed record in a jet powered boat, at least dress smartly chaps.

Your stomach (eating/drinking enough is a skill)

On my recent LEJOG, I found that “proper” food was much easier to eat – no sickly sweet tastes to get tired of- digested easier without bloating, and provided more sustained energy for back to back 16 hour days.

I’ve suspected this the last few MMs.

Pretty much essential. Way better than bar mount.

Tis near Moffat, where there is the old A74, the new M74, and the middle aged A74 which is now a cycle lane. I remember going up the old A74 as a small child.

I can now confirm having ridden the length of Britain that 2:1 will get you everywhere except that climb out of Lynmouth. Mind, if you’re not carrying 10 days of kit in a Revelate seat pack you might make it.

CX bikes the best invention in the last 10 years imo.

No matter how many times I read that I can’t decide if you’re trying to be smart or just really really stupid.

I’m darn sarf, Mrs is in That London. I’m here having just logged on to STW and chosen this as the best topic to comment on.

    I have beer.
I’ve made and ate a fine Chilli.
    I’ve burped.
I’ve kicked out 73miles on the roadie today.
    I have smelly feet.
I’m wearing combats and a white t-shirt that makes me look a little bit like Sting (but I have slightly longer hair (all of it)).
    I’ve not shaved.
I have my paddleboard leaning on my stairs and it’ll stay there until after the weekend.
I’ve just watched Mission Impossible 3 (again)
I’ve bought Dark Choc Digestives which I’ll have for breakfast.
The milks gone off in the fridge.
My spare room smells of rancid bib shorts and merino underlayers.

    I rock me.

You are Jim Pooley and I claim my £5.

” do you not fancy doing that tour de france?”

last time I got asked that, which was less than a week ago, I asked the bloke “do you ask Sunday League footballers when they’re playing in the World Cup?”
