I have tried syncing the touch – as I have over 120gigs in iTunes it won’t let me. Does this mean that remote won’t work for me? The touch is an 8gig version.
Once I am in airport utility it tells me that it can’t find any apple wireless devices – the airport express unit is plugged in next to the computer.

You could check out the local osteopaths too.

Bensales – I’ve bought the 2.66 version from my local JL – they said it had been in stock since Dec ’08 – it’s running OSX version 10.5.4 & comes with 2GB RAM.
I’m not sure if it’s because it was the display unit but it has a ‘tour’ loop on it which I can’t seem to get rid of, it also is asking me for the network password each time I turn it off. If anyone can help me cure these issues I would be grateful.

Decided to go for a 2.4 chip, ex-dispay @ £700 with 2 yr warantee – picked it up & they had made a mistake – it was the 2.66 version for the same price…….result!

I forgot that the graphics card is higher spec in the 2.6 version – ATI Radeon HD 2400 128 XT vs ATI Radeon HD 2600 256. I have no idea if this is significant, I assume the 70 gig on the HD is fairly inconsequential.

You could try a pair of MBT shoes – expensive, but the sole is cushioned & rockered so it might take the stress off the area. I’d try a pair (in the shop)& see if it helps.

If you have no symptoms below your knees it is unlikely that you have a significant central prolapse of a disc.
The fact that you get the problem when sitting & pedalling hard makes me think that it’s most likely to be a core stability issue, but another possibility is overuse of a muscle (tensor fascia lata) compressing a nerve which supplies sensation to part of your thigh (lateral cutaneous nerve of the thigh).
I would suggest getting it looked at by someone who is properly trained & has an interest in this sort of thing (I am an osteopath, so understanably I wouldn’t suggest restricting your search to just physio’s). They should be able to assess you & suggest the next course of action, this will probably be either referral to a surgeon or (more likely) a course of manipulation & exercise.

I would be more worried about pain down both legs than my riding. Does it extend below your knees? Any genital numbness/ pins & needles? Is it getting worse? If so you may have a central disc prolapse which requires surgery. Have you seen a neurologist/ orthopod to assess if you need an MRI to find out?
Assuming you don’t need surgery core stability & flexibility exercises are good – concentrate on doing them exactly right with no pain and, initially, not to exhaustion. Get used to the idea of keeping a slight inward curve of your low back when sitting (including on your bike when you get on it).

I don’t have a turbo trainer, but I do have an ergo. AD/DC, live, no bull (recorded from the tv) works for me.

I use a maverick remote (=joplin?). Had it for a year with no probs, great bit of kit. I also use a rear mudguard which although ugly has the dual benefit of keeping my ar$e dry & the post clean.

The sonic things worked for us ……….(crosses fingers)…….Get several & try to put them where the mice can get in. I reckon there is no shortage of mice looking for a nice warm home so killing them is likely to be a never-ending job. Making your home the kind of place they hate is more likely to work I think.

It might be worth giving David Evans a call – he’s an osteopath I trained with. Stretching the area may reduce the pain & disability, delaying the op for a while. Good luck.

If the limitation to movement is boney it should be done soon (IMHO), if it is soft tissue stretching may help for a while – where are you?

If she has the ability to extend her hip (test by lying on back, bring the other knee to chest whilst keeping the ‘bad’ leg flat) I would put up with it for as long as possible. If she can’t do that it’s probably worth getting done – you need to extend your leg to walk, if your hip doesn’t do it your low back will – cue early wear & tear in the lumbar spine, hips can be replaced, spines can’t.

It would be worth checking to see if she is a suitable candidate for a ‘Birmingham hip’ – this is a resurfacing op with a longer recovery period but can give better results & I think means that the first revision is the equivalent of a first ‘normal’ replacement. If she has deformed femoral heads or hip sockets this is unlikely to be possible.

Thanks – I put a new spring in from my spare pads, but just wanted to be sure I wasn’t missing anything obvious…..Goes off to check how clean the oil looks…….

Unlikely to be the cold. Inadequate core stability is a more probable culprit – you should be able to keep your low back stable whilst you pedal, obviously harder on a ss due to higher loads…….and is your saddle the right height, too high will cause rocking which could trash your back as well. I would try a swiss ball and book on how to use it.
