I replaced 3 panels (6 by 5 as well) just before lock down. Was planning to get my wife to help me but went and have a look at a few YouTube videos first before I started.

Suggestion on one of them was to bolt handles onto the panels. Made the panels so much easier to handle and manganed to do them without any help from my wife.

Thanks, bought one of those and fitted earlier. Paired with my edge 130 with no issues.

The sensor go on the back of the crank. Not sure if my frame (Planetx Tempest) is particularly tight but it only just cleared the frame. Might be worth checking there is enough clearance before buying.

Recently started using this. Did a really muddy ride on the gravel bike couple of weeks ago.

Hosed all the mud off the chain, but when I went and have a look today, the drive train is still smooth and quiet but the exterior of the chain has gone all rusty. (should have wiped it dry)

I know people mentioned wiping it with an oily rag but think gt85 might be more effective as it would displace the water? Only worry is the gt85 might wash the putoline off? Anyone tried?

Have you tried Nanoblock? One of my colleagues recently introduced me to them and I just bought the Yamato battleship and the Himeji castle which are both around 2000 pieces. I think they are about half price of Lego using cost vs piece count ratio. The smaller piece size should make it a bit more of a challenge.

I have just finished building the Mack truck (another excellent Technic). Once I dismantled and build it into the bin lorry, it will be the Nanoblock next.

The water in boot is a common problem with the Jazz. Cause is the sealer between the roof and the side of the car cracking. If you lift the bit of black trim on your roof up, you will see the cracks straight away. Give it a good clean and put some automotive sealant there and your boot will be dry from the on. Some of them have the crack extended to the boot lid hinges so you need to check and apply sealant as required.

It is such a common problem Honda do an extended warranty with it but they will essentially just be doing the same as what I described above. You might be a bit late for that but could be worth ringing the dealer up to see if it’s still covered.

Exhaust is also a common problem. They always crack between the pipe and the silencer. If you replace it with an OEM one, it would be ridiculously expensive and last for the rest of the life of the car. An aftermarket one will only last around 2 years.

However, if it’s a manual, the bearings in the gearbox will go at around 100K. That will be a lot more expensive to repair as you need to take off the transmission housing to replace them so is a gearbox out job. Once that is done, there’s pretty much nothing more to go wrong with them.

Mine has all the above done + a new clutch at aroudn 100K. It’s used as a bumper shopping cart for my wife. It is on 140K now and hasn’t gone wrong since.

Nearly forgot, there’s also the rear wheel bearing that goes but that’s on extended warranty again and I think the dealers are still giving away the part away for free if you ask.

I had a TL-01 with long suspension arm and oil fill shock kit. I had hours of fun with that back in the days.

Reading this thread make me look again. I was looking at Tamiya originally and then found this:

    Losi Mini 8ight-T

I keep thinking it’s too good to be true but seems genuine. I am now £139 poorer but what a deal! I will see on Monday.

I must say I am one of those who enjoy fettling as much as riding. For me, it’s all part of the experience. I learnt over the years that one of the reasons of having an n+1 fleet is that if I am working on my bike and get stuck, I always have the luxury of walking away and ride the other bike instead. A job that I get stuck on usually takes 2 mins after walking away and coming back another day.

Having to get something finished on a deadline is OK at work. It’s simply no fun if it is part of a hobby. The only thing that I need to be disciplined with is not to work on 2 bikes at the same time, otherwise, I will have a garage full of bikes that don’t work.

You just undo the saddle bolts and the whole saddle clamp will rotate around.

I had couple of 26″ Orange Five before. There are pros and cons.

    Pros:

Although my Yeti 575 is a much faster and easier to ride bike, I would say the Orange Five is more rewarding to ride. If I have the money and space, I will have another one any day.

It is a bike that I will ride in all weather, the single pivot system is so easy to maintain I wouldn’t worry about getting it wet and muddy.

    Cons:
You pay a scene tax for owning a Orange Five. When I sold my last one, the 650B revolution already began. It was in really good condition with a nearly new Kashima RP23, new bearings and a Maxle rear end, but the frame went for nearly £600 on Ebay which was quite a lot. It funded an upgrade to a Yeti 575 + a Cotic Soul which worked in my favor.

If cost is a concern, don’t go for an Orange 5 as you might not get as much for your money.

    Things to watch out for:

You definitely need a small. I am 5ft 7 and was much more comfortable on a small compared to a medium. I ride Medium with most other manufacturers for your reference.

Other than that, try and go for a later one as they are less likely to crack and the geometry is better. Orange kind of gradually improved their design base on warranty claims and feedbacks.

Thanks, the stanchions on my 09 revelations are very scratched and I have some replacement for under 30 include postage. That will keep my 26 in fleet going for a while.

Another one with Oakley jawbones and lenses from ciliary blue.

I used to have a normal tinted pair for driving and a pair of transition for riding but the nice bloke there talked me into getting these extra transition lenses with mirror coating.

I ended up going for all the options which cost me £190!

    In summary, mine does:

    1. Goes dark in the car so works for driving
    2. Thinner lenses that look normal, stronger and lightweight
    3. Mirror coating that disappears in the dark

I would say if I have the choice again, I would have gone for 2 set of lenses again because:

    1. There is a blue tint when the lenses are suppose to be clear. I ride in the dark with them so not ideal
    2. The lenses didn’t go as drak as my old ones and not as quick to go dark.

    However, I like them because:

    1. No need to swap lenses again
    2. They go from dark to light ridiculous quickly which is a good thing when riding in the woods.
    3. The mirror coating does look good

    That’s my 2p

There should be a small grub screw (2mm) and a small hex (3mm) machined into the aluminium for you to hold onto with another allen key.

It is very important to get the cable length exactly right, otherwise, you seatpost either wouldn’t actuate or would drop on its own. You need exactly 22mm of inner cable from the end of the cable outer (according to the manual).

In my experience, it is better to cut slightly long and trim as you adjust.

Thanks for the PSA. The bibs are particularly good value. Agree with the bit about problem getting through payment. Got there in the end though, let’s just hope it arrives.

I have a very round and large head, tried many. Bell super (the old one) fitted well, but the super 2 does not fit at all as the shape gone more oval.

The others I tried that fit were the Fox metah and bluegrass golden eye. The bluegrass fitted best which is what I went for but I would say either are fine.

Mine last about the same. It will do about a week’s of commute + a 1.5 hour weekend ride for me which adds up to about 4.5 hours. I never run it low enough so that it switches itself off though.

    I think it’s a drawback with the Edge 25.

For me, I have a edge touring plus if I need mapping and just pop the edge 25 on if there’s no need. Still better than dragging around the Touring plus all week long + risk of damaging/losing it when there is no need for mapping.

With it being so cheap and small and do everything that I need on a normal ride. I think it is a great little unit.

Yes, it is a bit wet out there. Got there at 6 thinking I would get away with most of the rain but it pretty much started pouring it down from around half 6. My shock also decided to loose most of its air overnight so ended up only doing blue and a tiny bit of red. Still fun after a whole week of boring commute on the road bike though.

Thanks for the link for the DC37, not seen them that cheap before. Bought but it is on preorder though. Going to get rid of the planet-x ones on mine as they are a bit heavy and I quite like the bike.

Thanks for this, went in the local shop earlier and got one. It is the past one in my local shop though.

The price tag says 90 in the shop but they charged me 80 on the tills. Good buy for me, already have a touring plus with sensors because I occasionally needed the navigation.

It’s the Bluetooth transfer to phone for uploading that sold it for me as I am tired of constantly plugging it into my computer to upload, also a much smaller lump to lug about for the regular rides.

Only slightly cheaper than online though.

Same problem with me. Happened to me quite a few times as well. You will get used to the disappointment soon.

My solution is to get everything ready the night before including loading the bike in the van and getting something that I can eat in the van.

Also have a cross bike for the quick local blasts pre breakfast (just got back from that)

1.6 diesel is good. It even had enough power in the CRV but only just. Struggles above 80mph.

There is now a twin turbo high power version of the 1.6 which goes into the 4WD CRV which is more suited to the size.

I had a tourer in SE spec with the 16″ alloys and that did around 65 average. The SR spec one I had did 60mpg average which is probably down to the 17″ alloys.

Quite a bit, I had a 2013 Civic, then have the Tourer after that. The seat layout is exactly the same. By having the car bigger, all the room is gained in the luggage space.

I also had a current Gen CRV before as well, I can fit more in the tourer than in the CRV.

In the Tourer, I can easily fit my FS with both wheels off without lowering the seat. There’s no way I can do that in the standard Civic. Have a look at one in a showroom.

I also found the handling to be better than the standard Civic as it is more balanced. Don’t choose the 17″ alloys though as they stick out proud of the tyres. I kerbed mine couple of times and it’s not nice.

Have you seen the ebay charge plug 5 thread? I was going to get the kaffenback but ended up getting the plug 5 and put a pair of kaffenback forks on it in the end. Better frame in my opinion and same price as well.

Only had a ride out the front of the house to check the shifting and brakes. They are the planet-x forks sprayed with the rustolium version of plastidip. Still waiting for some pictures with the orange forks before I get them powder coated properly.

Can’t remember what size the tires as they came with the wheels used. All I know is they are tubeless racing Ralphs. Will check when I get home later.

This is mine built up finally. No time to ride today though as been in Swinley in the morning already.

Please don’t comment on my overgrown garden

And this is what I meant with the converter.

Unfortunately, I run a triple so the CX70 wouldn’t work for me. The frame even have the boss for the bottom pull converter so I just fitted one and use the front mech from the donor bike. Only £3 from Planet X as well.

Nearly got mine built up now. Slowly taking it 20 mins a time before work in the morning.

One thing you need is a front mech bottom pull converter because the front mech cable routing is from the top. That is unless you manage to find a top pull road mech or run a mtb front mech or 1x.

Also trying to find a clean solution to tie the front brake cable to the forks as there is no cable mount on the on-one forks.

Got mine on Monday, just had a chance to have a proper look. It is very skinny and the walls are thin. Definitely a lot lighter than the Genesis CDF frame that it is going to replace. Also got the PX forks but I just cannot stand the frame and forks being a different colour.

Got myself a can of rust-oleum matt black peel coat from the local Halfords and will probably attack the PX forks and see how it goes. Good thing is I can just peel it off if it goes wrong. Lucky the frame is matt black so should in theory match quite well.

I have took the plunge as well. Just upgraded my commuter and realised I have a complete set of components to build one up. The charge is lighter than my current frame (genesis cdf) so probably end up swapping the good components to the charge frame and build my old components back on my current frame.

Yes, still a massive clearing at the top of Red1 but it was a bit muddy. Probably why they decided not to wait there.

I tried one on in the shop, fit was good, very comfortable like all other Gore clothing that I own. I would have bought it except for the fact there is only 1 zipped pocket and I don’t like the idea of having keys and my phone in the same pocket.

Bought a Endura Windchill 2 instead which I think is a bit too warm if I have a backpack on. The Gore seem at the time less warm than the Endura and would have been perfect. Cannot live with the single pocket though.

Medium would be nice but at this price, small is good enough. Give me some incentive to lose more weight. Bought 3, thanks.

I tried ringing as well but never seem to get an answer. However, when I left a message via the order history, I got an answer straight away and the parts arrived the next day. Seems like he needs a reminder before he ships orders nowadays.

Lightning deal 15 quid airace track pump

Airace pumps are great. I bought one for £30 and definitely worth it. The best bit about it is the ability to do small pressure adjustment with a button.

Other than that, Gore Phantom 2.0 jacket for £62.98 (with extra 10% they are doing at the moment)

I have a hilo as well which is great. Only thing I found is when it is not working very well, have it fully compressed, pull it back up to full extension, then press the lever. Seems to work much better after doing that. It seem to somehow bleed it.

My local Evans does not stock anything useful either. I was desperate for some pads for Hope X2 brakes once thinking it is more likely to have them in stock than a smaller independent LBS.

They had none but the LBS had plenty in stock.

However, I must say Evans is pretty good if you are unsure about the sizing of clothing/shoes/helmet etc. What I found is they never have what I want in stock. I just order a few sizes of what I want using click and collect, try them out in the shop and get a refund from the tills for the sizes that don’t fit. Their prices are pretty competitive as well.

I had a 27.2. The internal cable snapped, I tried replacing it following the online video but managed to undo the pressure stick by mistake.

I think the larger diameter ones are much better and easier to work on yourself.

It is with Jungle at the moment having the pressure stick replaced + a service. However, the whole batch of pressure stick that they got from KS arrived with no pressure in them. I think I have to wait a while before it get fixed.

It also broke when Superstar first stopped supporting the posts so I had to wait quite a while just to get someone to look at it.

Not a good experience overall but the service I got from Jungle so far seems to be fine and the repair cost is very reasonable in my opinion.

For me, I have a evil soverign and a 5. I can’t be without either of them. The FS gets me riding more because I can have fun even when I am tired. However, when I am fresh, the HT is infinitely more fun.

If I have to choose, it will have to be the FS as surely more riding is better?
