I always know I’ve got the upper hand when the other side can’t hold their language.

Just admit you’re jealous I thought of the MOT thing first. It’s the first step to owning your recovery. 😉

I for one think it was inspired.

The very fact that you did makes you a sad ****.*

Naaahh, just smarter than the average bear…

I am assuming your **** means bear, yes? You must be clever enough to be able to resist swearing.

Only MOT it’s had since I owned it it sailed through with no advisories.

Not according to the DVSA/VOSA. 😉

BTW I think its hilarious you’ve deleted your pictures now! 😉

I can’t bring myself to read most of the posts on this thread because they’re probably shit but agree that whoever that was is a completely sad ****.

Maybe glasses are in order as you missed the smilie I put on the end of the post about the MOT history (see below). But then it wouldn’t be STW if people actually read what they are commenting on, would it? 😉

Anyway, it only takes 20 seconds to check MOT history…

Maybe if you stopped clipping curbs like that your suspension wouldn’t need so much work on it. 😆

It’s always funny when people come on here expecting a Daily Mail response of “ooh yes its awful, people should MTOB, etc” then when people don’t agree they get all uppity and start insulting everyone else.

Basically if you didn’t park your van where you do, or had modified the parking area house so you didn’t drive over the kerb there would be no problem in the first place. Only you can solve it.. 😉

Sorry just going to add a few more 😉 😉 😉 😆 for the OP and other permanently offended readers….

My whole car only cost £400 and it’s awesome. Don’t know why that’s a relevant I just wanted to point it out. 😉

    “Leave it an hour
    Coat it again
    Leave it an hour
Blast it with a pressure washer.”

And hopefully contain the contaminated water (quite likely hazardous waste) which you now have so it doesn’t go into a local watercourse and pollute it. But I am sure you did that.

“It won’t diminish me as a person and won’t fester on the result.”

It probably won’t as you sound as nasty a person as you can get already.

I used to sell kitchens and after a lot of research went for DIY kitchens. Very good quality, the price stated is the price you pay so easy to keep track, no hidden discounts or 50% off rubbish.

Very good quality, they messed up the delivery a little so got a couple of damaged bits but it was sorted quickly with many apologies.

All come ready built, would def buy from them again.

Decided not to do it myself, just need a couple more quotes to get an idea.

Find a place that specialises in alignment, not just a tyre fitter. There’s a place in Huddersfield which is well known for that sort of stuff, does race car set up etc as well as road cars so experts in geometry issues. I looked into it and it was about £50-70 which is much cheaper than just one tyre.

Don’t underestimate how dusty/rubbly/filthy it can get!!

I would go with ply if you can afford it, it looks nice straight away and perfect for screwing into.

If you want it to look like a normal room then you have to go with a plasterboard finish somehow, with paint on top, but thats going to get damaged soon and look scruffy.

Unless its a purpose made knarly downhill track I can’t see why not. There was a time before suspension forks you know……

If it’s genuine, which as you back it up as you know him it does look like it is, I can’t see a problem with it.

Until you’re faced with the prospect of not seeing your kids much, despite your best efforts, I doubt you can imagine the situation he is in. Good on him for trying.

My plumber used plastic Hep20 fittings with copper where you could see it, but to be honest I would have been happy with plastic where you could see it as I now have to find a way to make the copper pipes white either with paint or covers.

You don’t have to buy the plastic in coils, straight lengths are available you could use to the rads.

Hep20 fittings don’t work with chromer, they do seal but they don’t grip the shiny surface (they need to dig in) so as soon as pressure comes through the pipes they pop off. Ask me how I know this…….. 🙁

I’m sold on Hep20 though, love it, never get any problems. It isn’t cheap but its much better than the JG Speedfit stuff I used to use.

They are amazing to look at and nice to stay in if they have been sorted.

They are very expensive, or can be. Try importing one from the USA – might be cheaper.

I think they are pretty big and heavy so you’d need a big big car to tow one. Looking around the net a lot seem to based in one location and used as a holiday home.

Some lovely conversions on the internet!

I might have an XT rear mech you can use in my spares. Would be ok on 7/8/9 speed.

I did my short drive in my last house properly, got some hardcore compacted first, then a layer of proper engineering fabric designed for cars weight to stop the weeds and the gravel sinking down. Then 20mm gravel.

Cheap and worked well – had edges all the way round to keep the gravel in and gravel size was big enough not to stick in shoes or tyre treads.

Wouldn’t put me off another gravel drive but it is nice to have a long tarmac drive in our new house!’

The people who rant on for weeks in the political threads put me off what they are representing mostly so they aren’t very good shills if they are one.

Crappy stuff going on in last few days. I had to drill 2 holes through the side of the house for the washing machine waste and drier hose.

    Oh
    My
    Word

I’ve got a big SDS drill and diamond core drills but it took me 3 hours to do each one. The double brick on the inside of the house wasn’t too bad but there was another 20cm of the most solid Yorkshire stone I’ve ever come across I think maybe because the house is 3 storeys this bit I drilled through (right at the bottom of the 3 storey wall) is extra thick to take the weight.

Hoefully never again but at least I have a working washing machine!!!

The taps above are going to be moved. They are only temporary – at one point they were the only place to get water in the whole house. :/

I have some Dura Ace 9sp thumbshifters on my tourer – converted using Paul Components adaptors. Will never wear out. But then I forgot my Deore DX thumbies I have – I can’t ever see them wearing out in my lifetime.

What you need is an old school Deore DX chainset and some Onza Buzzsaw chainrings. No one has ever worn them out, fact. 😉

I believe Deore DX rear mechs will survive the apocalypse. 🙂

Like to suggest how one person could get a 45kg object into the boot of an average car, then out at the other end?
Bloody certain I could never, ever lift that, and not over the lip on my Octavia’s boot, and absolutely not out again!
    That’s 92lb!

Err that’s not that heavy. I just hung a 40kg radiator which involved taking it on and off the wall a few times (complex brackets) and it wasn’t an issue.
Just plan your route, take a small dolly/trolley with you if it needs to be moved any distance (avoids need to walk with it).

Hmmmmmm. If they are your bank then they know how much you spend – have they already done an affordability check? If the people who will lend you a lot more haven’t done an affordability check (which if they can’t see your bank account they can’t ) you might find when it comes to applying properly for the Mortgage they might not lend you as much as the agreement in principle you got promised.

If you’ve got a reasonably economical car and a day free it’ll probably be best and cheaper to pick it up yourself, saves on potential damage and having to wait around anyway for the delivery person to turn up.

You can fix it with an old QR and some washers. Look on Park Tools Website. I did it once and it worked a treat.

Cushioned vinyl floor. It’s nice and warm and looks far better than I expected. Decent quality stuff but still less than £150 fitted.

Bathroom is sooooo close to being finished. Just have to put bath panel on (which will need routing out on back for bath legs, grrr, and it doesn’t look easy to fit either). Pretty chuffed with how its turned out.

Best way would be chop out any bricks which have been cut into by the vent, find suitable replacements and mortar them in as whole bricks. Better than trying to fill a circular hole.

I do this for a living, and fitted several thousand sets of tops over the years. I charge £90 for 1st joint, £50 there after per joint. £25 for each hole cut out a….SNIP

Perfect answer, thanks very much. So £320 inc VAT probably ok really.

Was considering doing it myself, I have a router already (not sure what size it is though, I think I need a 1/2″ size) but I get the idea its very tricky to do. Never seen anyone do it myself which doesn’t help.
