I often read these sorts of threads and worry. I don’t know how to look out for signs of depression/mental issues which might lead to this sort of thing. And I think that’s the same for most people. How can you tell? I want to find out how to spot these sorts of things as I think I should educate myself so I’m not one of those people who lose a close friend and say afterwards “I never knew anything was wrong”.

Eddy Merckx saying people aren’t attacking – every single rider in the history of cycling attacked less than him so it’s not a fair comment!! 😉

I like Froomes style of riding. Why? It’s different. I can’t stand Contador but at least you can spot him – he’s got a style. Same with Froome, it’s not pretty but it’s his style. Everyone else has had their style beaten out of them with a million bike fits! Froomes body shape is just weird as well, his arms are sooooooo long.

I think the non Sky teams really missed their chances this year. Sky haven’t really dominated as such, they’ve run a measured race but when they’ve been slightly weaker the other teams just haven’t used the opportunity and played it safe instead. Such as when froome had the puncture, when he joined the group again they should have attacked, again and again as surely Froome would have cracked?? But no one tried anything. Weird.

    Certainly will miss Voekler.

Dan Martin IS the Terminator. Looks like him and no matter what you do to him he’ll come back and attack you!! Top bloke and made of nails it appears.

I am so glad someone hasn’t been permanently injured. So many sickening crashes it’s amazing someone hasn’t been.

THE SCENERY. I don’t know what they’ve done this year (Prudhomme said someone about helicopters in an interview) but every time I watch I just want to jump in the car and pedal round France. So many gorgeous areas to visit it’s been ridiculous. Must go next year!!

I have an adhesive Quadlock mount on my dashboard with a coiled power lead and it looks very neat and unobtrusive. Takes a second to clip in.

Just read the OP but not all the other posts – just a thought but have you tried sending the Exposure light back to them for repair? They might do it for free.

I use Google on my iPhone all day every day and I’ve never noticed any significant data usage.

It can be scarily good at telling you where the traffic jams are.

Nice Volvo BTW. I “heart” volvos, although mine is RWD so I heart it more. 😉

Problem with a dent like that is that water might pool in it and if paint is cracked rust could start quite quickly. Probably best to get it fixed if keeping car for a while.

after we’d had it for another 4/5 years it would start to get a bit tatty.

Just look after it better then?

My Volvo is 20 years old and looks new inside as its been looked after by its previous owner (first 5 years company owner, then 2 family owners for next 14 years).

The last enjoyable film I watched was (not kidding) The Equalizer with Denzel Washington,

I saw that on TV recently and really enjoyed it. Don’t normally like Denzel but I thought he really suited it.

I stopped watching films based on reviews or friends recommendations years ago. I read a description and try it out, sometimes you can get something you love but has been panned by the critics. I did this with The Cobbler – I do like Adam Sandler but not all his films so when my wife and I were searching through Netflix (I think) it came up and we wondered why we hadn’t heard of it. Watched it and really enjoyed it, I checked the reviews a week later and found it had been universally panned and was a complete flop!

Watched some 80’s films again recently, including Desperately Seeking Susan, which I had never seen before and thought that was ace!

    Sizes of modern cars……

This is a scale comparison of a Mk1 Range Rover and a new 5 door Mini. Done by a friend of mine who does high end animation and imagery so it’s very accurate.

    Quite scary!!

I am glad to see the fee go for larger companies anyway as the surcharges they levy are always way higher than the actual cost of processing the transaction – just profiteering.

njee20 – that’s what I thought too to be honest. I suppose PayPal will say that PayPal Goods service charges will be under the same banner as the retailer paying the card handler the 0.5% fee (much higher for smaller shops). But I was thinking that it also might apply to private sales where you are forced to lose the goods fee when accepting payment although it isn’t a business transaction (and not subject to the same control and other charges).

I give up. You can’t have a conversation on here about anything without the whole thread being polluted with Brexit talk. There has been a ruling which will come into force in the Uk and I’m trying to figure out how it will work in practice. Please can we discuss that. Yes I know when laws change around brexit it might change. Or it might not. I’m not stupid.

Give it a rest with the Brexit broken record please. I might agree with you but in this case I’m trying to figure out how it will affect PayPal transactions.

It would seem you are not a dog person, body language could be causing them to react to you in a way you don’t want.

You sir, are an idiot. No winky face either.

I would have kicked/hit the dog as hard as I needed if it was going after a small child. Absolutely abysmal behaviour from the owners and I am not sure I could have been as calm as the OP.

Anyone defending the people who owned the dogs which went after the OP’s son needs to take a long hard look at themselves and stop being selfish idiots.

Having grown up with a dog (which I loved) in our house I have gone completely the opposite side now and I simply cannot stand them or their owners. I HATE the way owners think they and their dogs are something special, that they can be treated differently and that a weapon like a dog can do what it likes and everyone else has to cope. Sick of poo on tracks and paths, sick of yappity pieces of crap nipping at me and my friends/kids.

Should go the same way as firearms, licence needed for ownership and anything remotely dangerous needing regular checks and a good reason why you need one.

I would like some floorstanders for my new house as the lounge is miles bigger than the last house but I’m struggling to find a set at a proper Yorkshire price (i.e. Cheap!).

Would love some older mission speakers as my 731’s I used to own years ago are still my favourites.

I’ve seen way more prats driving Audi A1/2/3/4’s than Fiestas. I drove a couple of new Fiestas and they are well screwed together and handle very well indeed, as Fords tend to do! Miles better than the pile of crap Fiat 500 I drove.

Ignore the middle aged IT reps above, they would even dare drive an interesting car, they are more interested in impressing next door with the badge on the car rather than if it’s any good at all. It’s a great car, go for it.

Ridiculous organisations, the sooner we get rid of their archaic influence in our country the better. They should sell all their assetts and give it to the poor & build social housing on their land.

Do you mean CofE or Catholic or both or all churches?

My church is independent, paid for the land and the building we have on it ourselves, indeed even have a big mortgage to pay off, don’t have any cash spare at all (any surplus given away!). So I don’t think we would take too kindly to someone stealing it off us for no other reason than they didn’t believe what we do. I think that sort of thing happened in other countries quite a lot in the last century, wasn’t remembered as a particularly nice thing to do.

Also you’d put about 60 people out of work too. I am assuming you’d find other equivalent work for them.

We stayed with friends who live in Las Vegas (well Henderson to be accurate). They only had a small house by US standards but they had a small box type room on the same floor (1st) as the bedrooms which had washer dryer and ironing board in. Makes SO much sense. You take your clothes off in the bedroom on the same level where all your clothes get cleaned and dried and ironed, which then go back in your bedroom.

We have ours in our cellar. Which is great as you can’t hear them but having to take them all down 2 floors to then have to bring them back up all that way again doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. A laundry chute would be amazing.

I tried 3 for a bit but coverage was crap in Huddersfield, very good when you had a good signal but it dropped off very quickly as you went out the centre of town and in buildings.

Been with EE for about 8 years now and their coverage is excellent, speed is always fast and their customer service is amazing. Just tried to leave and they gave me a 128gb iPhone 7 for free and £32 a month for 10gb 4g contract! Woohoo!

Just horizontally core drill a vent to the outside, will be a very short run so extraction will be very good. That’s what I’ve done in the same situation.

I can’t help thinking that the chimney might become damp as they aren’t designed for relatively cold air which might be fatty/smelly, they are for very hot sooty air which will travel upwards very fast. Not an expert but that’s my thinking.

Driving in general does seem to be worse in the North of England though. I mean, the majority of people are similar but there are many more speeding arseholes around.

You HAVE to be kidding me? Whenever I go down South to see PP I am taken aback at the crap standard of driving. I drive on the M1 and M62 everyday but on the worst day it’s not a patch on the abysmal standard of driving on the M25 and others around London.

I’m a big Sagan fan and yes there are some intracacies to the crash we won’t ever know (without knowing Sagans thoughts we will never know his true intent) but I’m glad to see they are coming down hard on stuff like this. The speeds they are going at, plus the amount of people in the sprints now, means that really serious crashes could only become more commonplace. As in F1 they need to keep things safe and need to ensure they do their best to avoid someone being killed on the finish straight, which could happen so easily. It should be a test of a sprinters ability and strength and tactical ability, not about how well they can bully themselves to the front.

Finally got in touch with Ao and they are sending out a new one on Thursday. Not very happy, hope this one is ok.

It must be a miserable life casting scorn on folk who just want to liven their car up. Not every one wants a boring white A4/Passat/Octavia you know.

Good thing with stickers is that they can be peeled off if you go off them. I’ve just bought an “Original Volvo” decal for my 940 but I’m scared to put it on as I know I’ll struggle to get it on level!!

I love how people think that the batteries going in those bins are being recycled. I know EXACTLY where they are, probably billions of them in one place (thousands of tonnes of them) as I have something to do with them for my job.

I know a couple of people who work in the pro sound and lighting industry and they only use Duracell Procell batteries which come up well in that chart above. All the wireless mics they have use them – even very expensive ones like this one:

    http://www.gear4music.com/PA-DJ-and-Lighting/Sennheiser-EW-500-935-G3-GB-Wireless-Handheld-Microphone-System-CH-38/C5G?origin=product-ads&campaign=PLA+Shop+-+Sennheiser&adgroup=Sennheiser.+Microphones&medium=vertical_search&network=google&merchant_id=1279443&product_id=15748d1&product_country=GB&product_partition_id=84781792332&gclid=CJe-4-XW69QCFUSfGwodaQcDfQ

They don’t use rechargeable, cost isn’t really an issue but reliability of a battery is utmost and they know where they stand with standard alkalines.

I suppose I’d like to wear some nicer clothes one day, if only to avoid letting my wife down – she wears unusual clothes not like the masses but always looks beautiful.

Problem is I’ve been riding bikes for 30 years and even when I’ve lost a few lbs my thighs and calves are massive. Working in a manual job for a while has given me huge shoulders and upper arms. So none of the nice clothes listed above ever fit me. I can’t fit in most standard cut shirts, never mind any of the skinny fit ones. Trousers/jeans are the same.

At the moment I cannot fit into ANY of the jeans on sale at the moment, I’ve been wearing the same 2 pairs for about 3 years which don’t fit well anyway but at least I can fit into them and walk/crouch in them!! I’ve tried on loads and most I can’t even get over my thighs.

Shirts – always really tight across the shoulders and around the upper arms. Even if I can do them up I feel if I move an inch they will rip – if I can move.

So I wear my 1990’s Gap carpenters trousers (thank goodness I bought 4 pairs), odd shirts I can get in TKmaxx, shorts and hooded tops.

Find me a pair of nice trousers/jeans that fit the rules and aren’t eye-wateringly expensive and I’ll give them a go!!
