Looks like that transaction is over

i don’t think it ever started. If someone can’t be bothered to take any effort in selling something then I will assume they a) won’t have taken any effort in looking after the thing they are trying to sell and b) won’t take any effort in packaging it properly to send it to me.

roofbox.co.uk says this model is what I have:

Sorry if you cant be bothered to type out which one you actually have, you obviously don’t want to sell it. 🙄

Just be careful that grey water doesn’t go into any surface water drainage or into any watercourses, it will pollute watercourses which is a criminal offence. As long as it soaks into the ground it should be ok.

I cannot express how much I hate this company and cant for the life of me understand why anyone would buy from them.

    +10000

I also can not understand how they’ve managed to gain apologists for their crap QC. When that issue with the seatpost fitting came up (London road frame?) people on here were saying “what’s the fuss, it’s a cheap frame, what do you expect?” – WTF????? Just because something is cheap doesn’t mean if it is unfit for purpose you should just cope with it. I bought a Handsome Dog frame once for £75 (all terrain bike shop own brand) and I’ve only just built it up (had it for years as a frame). Nicely made, everything straight and everything fits well, paint is good quality too. There is no excuse for crap QC at the On-One prices.

Then we have the appalling customer service from them (AND Brant who a few years ago knew about the crap design features on his bikes but didn’t do anything about it with his newer frames – it’s not just the company On-One that is to blame) and that is enough from me. I’ll do what I can to make sure no-one buys anything from them again. I don’t have to exaggerate or tell lies about my experiences, they speak for themselves and I know others have had identical issues so I’m not on my own.

And this is added to the numerous times they’ve tried to deny people their consumer rights – I hope they go out of business.

Angel dust – what issue was there with the quality?

for my car I need the 754 foot pack from Thule which is seriously ugly compared to the Whispbar and sits a long way from the roof. Which is why I’m leaning towards the whispbar.

Just get steel wheels or used alloys. Also consider smaller wheels if you can fit them and then you could have comfier and bigger tyres – they will probably be cheaper.

jonjones – yes but I’d need the exact model numbers you have to make sure they fit my car.

I need the PRS15 bars (PRS15B if they are black). I also need fitting kit PRK679 but that is only £25 so I could buy that separately

    My experience is 3 Pompinos.

    Mine is

    a) 100mm travel inbred, first of the own tubing (DN6?) rangr

    b) 853 inbred

    c) PX Kaffenback

    Riding friends have had:

    a) white inbred x 3

    b) 853 inbred

    c) kaffenbak x2

    d) carbon 456 x2

i don’t think any of the people who owned any of the above would buy another OO/PX.

Only person I know who still rides his has a PX carbon time trial bike which he was bought as a present.

To the OP. I think you work for the same place as I do.

I just got my Auris hatchback this week. I quite like it – you have to drive it differently to other cars to make use of the battery and therefore get decent mpg but it’s comfy and relaxing to drive, especially in traffic. It’s got a decent turn of speed if you floor it, more so than my Focus diesel I jus returned to Hitachi Capital, but it will drink fuel if you use it all the time.

The CVT gearbox is a bit weird but I’m liking it already as a car to cruise around in. It’s quieter than my Focus too but when you floor it the petrol engine you can certainly hear but it’s not too bad. It just sounds different to a normal petrol engine – the revs don’t build up they go high straightaway then the car accelerates.

I would recommend speccing the protection pack for our jobs – I didn’t and wish I had done. You’ll get mudflaps and a boot liner and sill protectors I think. It’s pretty cheap per month – I’m going to buy a couple of parts of it separately.

If you want a decent good handling bike for getting muddy and don’t feel the need to pay an extra few hundred pounds for American advertorial this is good news.

If you don’t want to pay a few hundred extra for arse-licking customer service this is good news.

    I’ll rewrite that.

If you want a superficially decent (but soon reveals shoddy workmanship, lazy design with multiple flaws) reasonably handling bike (as the design was copied off someone else) for getting semi muddy (as the paint rusts and falls off at the first sign of water) and don’t feel the need to pay slightly more for something which a blind person hasn’t built then they are great

If you don’t want to pay a few hundred extra for arse-licking customer service then you don’t have to as a lot of other shops and manufacturers can provide polite service for no extra money as they realise it doesn’t cost anything.

I realised after 3 on-one/px (they dont deserve capitalisation) bikes what utter crocks of crap they were and promised to never darken their doors again – I won’t even buy a tyre from their website. Most other companies can do cheap stuff which is also well designed, well made and well supported and so I buy those now.

I’ve got Matt Osmo top oil on my oak worktops and it’s brilliant. Slight smell on application and while it dries but fine after that. Not like the stench of the old fashioned Danish oil – which you have to put multiple coats on and keep putting them on, and danish also makes it look cheap and shiny – Osmo Matt top oil you can hardly tell it’s been put on.

Osmo do loads of oils for different applications, have a look at their website. They are very well regarded by everyone who uses their stuff.

I get that you can wear whatever style you want but I think that there are probably better solutions to footwear construction than the wooden sole. I once tried some on at that clog place near Todmorden and I honestly thought they were operating some sort of clog scam, there was simply no way wearing them had any advantages for any wearer at all.

Its like fitting wooden wheels to your Audi.

Or keeping livestock on the ground floor of your house to keep upstairs warmer.

Or having a well in your garden with a bucket your only source of water.

Some old stuff is still useful. Clogs are not.

    Sand it.

Hardwood? Teak oil or a modern alternative (some sort of Osmo finish)

softwood? Toughest varnish or paint you can get.

Get a massive air blower wind machine thing,. Then you’ve got the added bonus that you’ll then be able to all get dressed up and recreate 80’s hair-rock videos in your front room

I have to say Binners that pure genius. We need more Hair Rock the way the worlds going nowadays. No-one wants to be a terrorist when they can become famous by getting a perm, wearing spandex and blasting out power chords.

I say get a life and go and worry about real stuff.

I bet you wouldn’t say that to his face (or mine), Mr Internet Hard man. 🙄 Just grow up and start thinking of other people than just yourself.

A friend of mine had the same issue, it’s disgusting. He actually ended up removing skirting to find voids, filling even the tiniest crack up to try and stop it but he ended up moving house in the end as his neighbours didn’t stop and he couldn’t stop the disgusting stench coming into his house.

£20 will get you a decent alloy NW from Works Components.

£8 will get you a genuine SRAM steel narrow wide chainring, though I’m not sure you can get them in 104 bcd and being steel they’re heavier (but more durable).

Ill take a look at the Works ones – how are they better than the ebay ones?

I bought one of those SRAM chainrings but made a mistake on the BCD. I need 104 but they are 96 IIRC. So I’m sending them back!

Onza should return and made a stainless NW Buzzsaw chainring, now that’s a chainring that lasted forever.

    Nice words Mr G.

I can’t help thinking in years to come your kids will tell their spouses or their own children something like this: “yeah my mum died when I was pretty young but my dad was amazing, It must have been so hard for him but we stayed close, he kept us all together as a family and he always did his best for us. I am what I am today because my dad was a great example to me”

That’s really sad news. I know people always say “they died doing something they love” but surely the Dunlop family have lost too much now, how they can still do I don’t know.

If you skip LV and head up into Utah you can go direct SLC to Schipol and CDG I think and you get the bonus of not going to Vegas

We have friends who live in LV (Henderson actually) so we really want to go there!

If you make the connections be aware of the spectacular hassle of immigration at some of the airports, and the fact you may have to change terminals if the airline you use from the UK has a partner in the US for the domestic flights. I prefer to fly direct against the slight saving, just to avoid the stress of transfers.

Been to the USA 3 times so far, never had an issue with immigration. When we went to New York we got through in seconds.

Never found transfers to be stressful, my wife actually likes the break as she can’t really eat on the planes and I can’t sleep on them.

Rone – I’m fine with accommodation and stuff, we’ve been to the west coast a couple of time but we’ve always booked last minute hence trying to see what benefits booking in advance might have!

CFH – sorry I don’t understand what you mean about adding in a connection – how do you do that? Is it like split tickets on the railways? Also routing via AA, what does that mean?

I have booked direct with the airlines before so we got to choose our seats at the time of booking – this is important to me. I am hoping this time as we are booking early we can choose nicer seats other than just behind the engine which is normally what is left. I don’t want to have any risk of being split up from my wife as it is very very important we sit together.

Intereting about the Thomas Cook booking – can you choose your seats with them? I’d like premium economy – are there any other benefits rather than the extra legroom?

They also need to stop rolling out Brian Wilson whenever the rest of the band need some cash

he has been ill for a very long time, probably made worse by too much medication keeping him below where he should be.

However watch the Smile live concert and watch how much better he has been recently – the joy and happiness he has got in that concert seems to have scrubbed 30 years off him – finally happy his magnum opus is finished. And wow what a thing to listen too. He still has a decent voice too, yes it’s changed but its still good.

But McCartney – errr I don’t like beatles stuff but respect whats he done – his voice has just disintegrated now hasn’t it?

Get someone else to ring the customer and say to him:

“We noticed you took some stock and didn’t pay for it, we are sending Tony around for the cash – BTW the price went up tenfold so have plenty of cash ready or Tony might get annoyed. I’ll text you a pic of Tony so you know who’s coming”.

My only bike is now 14 years old – where did that time go!…

My oldest is 26 years old. 2nd oldest 24yo, 3rd oldest I think about 8 years old, 4th oldest a bit newer and newest one is 3 years old I think!

And they are the ones I ride……there may be more..

I may have too many bikes.

There’s a GT in the racks here that has a U-brake, so I assume it’s ’92 or earlier? It’s been repainted so I don’t know the model. 7 speed rapidfires and a dura-ace rear mech!

Errr I also have a 1992 GT Tequesta, also rides really nicely – my first proper MTB in 1992!!

DX thumbies and a period mod of XT SLR plus STI levers units with the gear shifters cut off and smoothed – best canti brake levers there ever was.

XT canti’s (first low-pro ones) with Scott Matthauser Superbrake blocks. I have been obsessed with having the best brakes since 1992!

(Onza L bends added for a Peaks ride!!)

Thats a 93 Kilauea in the USA colour scheme. The decals are pre-1994 when the logo changed from this….

    to this type

There was no Kilauea before 1993.

This is a catalogue pic of the bike in the OP’s bike rack but UK colour scheme:

Most of the components seem to be original including the gear shifters and brakes but stem has been changed.

I have a 1994 Kilauea which I bought in 1994 and restored about 4 years ago, here she is….

Don’t ask me how much it cost to restore and get back all the original components. Please. Upgrades for my bikes included Paul Components brake levers, XT V-brakes, Flite Ti saddle, Yeti grips and some very rare Ritchey Alpha Bite skinwall Kevlar tyres. Rides beautifully even now, I absolutely love it – I did have a shorter Velocity stem sprayed up when I restored the bike which has helped make it fit better for me (now 100mm rather than 130mm).

I converted it for a short time to do a C2C and I am not sure if my newer Genesis TDF is actually any better than it!

A bit like teaching someone to ride a bike and then sending them down the Fort Bill D/H track.

……in the dark with a torrential downpour, with no pedals or handlebars.

Cave diving is very low down on my bucket list, somewhere between eating my own testicles and having dirty cuddles with Jacob Rees Mogg,

    Yes I’d agree!
