I thought you have got to have a brass neck to return a mattress that appears to have been owned by a doubly incontinent sex fiend.

    😆

Genuinely laughing out loud in public with that one.

What do people think of these new proposals? (Not that the article really explains it very well).

I hate it when Ferrari moan about things and threaten to pull out but they might have a point. The whole point of being an engine supplier with your own design is to increase your prestige. I can’t see the point in having a Ferrari or Mercedes team without them having their own design of engines each.

I don’t remember exactly but from recollection the hole in the wall is about halfway up the back of the washer. Certainly no more than that. Couldn’t get it any lower as I needed the right amount of fall to the soil stack. The wall you can see is probably only around 30-40cm underground as it opens out to the back garden.

How high is the drain outlet from the house? the open bit on the washer waste has to be above this

Not sure what you mean there.

On one or Planet X . Never ever ever again. Shoddy products poorly designed and made and woeful customer service. Always amazed when people defend them.

Cove – don’t like the porn names they have given their bikes, no need for it.

    Evil for a similar reasons.

Trek – always thought whey were very boring bikes all the way back to the late 80’s. I suppose they are decent bikes but I struggle to see why you’d buy one over another brand.

it was only when a neighbour noticed it coming out of the letter box that the concrete pump was turned off!!

A hammer and some expanding foam – all the plumbing tools you’ll ever need.

    😆

They were being used to chip off the loose white stuff on the walls and fill some gaps in, not for plumbing honest guv. 🙂

I thought it was stunning, the comments on here about things not being straight bemuse me no end! I don’t think I’ve seen a happier family on GD either. I bet their kids will grow up with some pretty amazing skills too.

If the dome above the main hall had been all even it would have looked terrible!

Yup has to be slate. Lintel needs to be on reinforced concrete pads, probably not compliant with building regs as you’ve done it. I’d have gone for a properly sized steel lintel too. None of this stuff is expensive. My steel beam I got was 3.1m long and holds up half my house and was £105 delivered. Concrete pads very cheap.

Netatmo trvs zoneable + apple home kit compatible

Read the OP, already has zones and TRV’s needs a method to switch the zones on and off. New TRVS completely unnecessary and you’d still need the zone switches.

Will need a plumber to install, unless you’re particularly au-fait with wiring etc

If you’re just changing a wall timer/thermostat you can do it yourself, simple as changing a light switch.

Rob, i was reading a lot last night and it seems the new Hive kit can control three zones exactly like we have. I’m going to look into it.

Not Apple HomeKit enabled though yet. Not a problem for me to be honest and can be controlled by Alexa if you want.

I’d bite the bullet and get a full internet controlled 3 zone system like the Honeywell system. I love my Hive system (which I don’t think will work in 3 zones??) and being able to switch on and off remotely is fantastic.

I’ve got a Triton 9.5kw shower which is unopened, didn’t need it for my house renovation in the end so it’s for sale cheap. It’s a t80 thermostatic model, want £100 for it (£150 in screwfix).

I had the same argument in a store about a drill I got which became faulty. I reluctantly phoned the helpline as I didn’t get anywhere in store and received (once I had emailed them the receipt and a pic of the identity plate thing on the drill) a brand new drill a day or two later.

To be perfectly honest I’d use them again because of that, very good service.

BTW I used to work in DIY tools and we used to get loads of stuff back that wasn’t actually faulty but we couldn’t really test them.

i was hid in the shed with a large white sheet over myself, like a ghost. crept up the garden whilst they were at the door, and scared em to bits.

I literally cannot imagine anything more terrifying than someone the size of you jumping out of the shadows!! 😉

I was out tonight but would have joined in if I had been at home. Nice way to get to know neighbours.

Outsourcing the constant monitoring required for a small child for a proportion of the time does wonders for my sanity

Someone who can’t have kids would find that a very very bizarre and selfish attitude. 🙁

It’s an addiction which is unpleasant for themselves and all around them

How can that be? The adverts show groups of well dressed guys having a great time and the gambling brings out their personalities and they are proud to be part of the keeeerazy and exciting gambling scene.

I have half my team work hours to suit childcare needs, they love it. One person on 4 days a week, one on 3, one does term time working only, another compressed hours. Works really well.

You’ll never regret spending more time with your kids. I’d rather change jobs to spend more time with them. Seems crazy to work and spend all the earnings on outgoings to enable you to attend that workplace.

It fills me with dread the thought that my wife would have to worry about money or losing our home if I became ill or died. I can’t imagine losing your partner then losing the home you built together as well, and maybe more.
When we got our new home CI cover was horrendously expensive as my wife had a minor stroke a few years ago. We could keep the level term CI/LI combined cover from our last mortgage (£53k) and took out a decreasing term LI cover for the mortgage (£105k). As I earn way more than her and pay the mortgage/bills this works out ok. If she gets a critical illness we would get half the mortgage paid off, if I did we would get the same but my workplace has much better sickness and HR policies – at worst we could sell our house and move into something smaller (would have a £230k house with £50k remaining on mortgage so wouldn’t have to downsize too much).
If she dies I get mortgage paid off plus £53k plus whatever her work pays out, if I die she gets the same plus £85k from my work so she’s have a mortgage free house and £138k on top which I would hope would set her up for a long time.

Redstripe – someone I bought something off a few days ago was warned about talking about payment AFTER it sold to me. All they said was they wanted cash on collection not PayPal as they had said in their listing. Quite scary as you can easily get ripped off if someone uses PayPal and comes and collects but that’s what they were trying to force him to do.

Thankfully I said I would pay by PayPal when I arrived at his with a 😉 added and paid by cash when I got there then explained the potential scam he could be a victim of.

Are Mondeos still cool? Just asking because that’s what I have.

I can’t help thinking yes, but only because you don’t see them very often now!! 😉

Seriously, in the 90’s everyone had them and hardly anyone had German repmobiles, seems almost the opposite now.

I see the OP is keen to show off how cool and alternative he is compared to all the sheep in their T5s.

I wasn’t, someone else brought it up to be fair. I was offering free styling advice – otherwise how are people to know how to make a style impact at their local trail centre?

Edit as realised it’s not OP’s Volvo – please tell me the Volvo has a T5 engine,

    It is mine!!

Better than a T5 engine, it has a good old fashioned strong as an ox turbo redblock in it. Fitted the right way round and driving the correct set of wheels too. 😉

driving an old Volvo makes you a better person than someone who drives a T5?

    🙄

Well I get comfier seats so it’s probably evens. Not my main car though, that’ll be kept a secret. 😆 I’m just as sensitive as the T5 guys towards lighthearted banter about my lifestyle choices. 😉 😆

Now they know what you’re driving, you will be lynched by angry T5 drivers before you get to the trailhead cafe.

It’s cost me the price of a T5 to pay for the petrol to get to a trail centre in my 940. 20mpg average means I go in my other car! So still under the radar…..

The T5 owners won’t be able to see me through the tints in the back of their vans as they fire up the camping stove and prepare the Aeropress anyway. They probably can’t afford both the repayment for the van AND sit inside a warm cafe for lunch.

    Go see Jedi.

6 foot doubles he will teach you to ride in 5 mins, no exaggeration.

There is a real reason he’s called Jedi, he is uncannily good at teaching bike skills.
