Told this story before – I used to work in a big DIY store and we had a guy roll up and park in a disabled bay in a newish Ferrari – big money. He wasn’t coming into our store he was going into Next which was our neighbour. Anyway while he was away someone pushed a trolley into his car (wasn’t me and I have no idea who it was) and caused a decent amount of damage which wasn’t unsurprising as he was also parked next to the trolley bay.

He came into our store shouting and complaining and we took great pleasure in explaining that a) it wouldn’t have happened if he’d parked correctly and b) people park at their own risk. After some more shouting he eventually calmed down but was becoming more accepting but panicked – turns out it was his bosses car he had borrowed for the weekend to show off in. Yikes.

Seeing as my particular minor mental health issue is treated with hilarity and demeanour on here I think I’ll avoid the **** who consider it fine to do so and not bother to ask on this site in future.

You might want to wind your neck back in. People have posted in here reacting to your OP which doesn’t mention the severe and long term problems you’ve had flying, which I know you’ve discussed before but very few people will have read your other threads about it – your first post just hints at a fear of flying and talks mainly about the drugs and your interaction with the docs.

If you read the piston heads thread apparently a farmer had provided a field near to this lane which people could park in for £3 all day but hardly anyone used it. Mainly (and I know it’s a generalisation but we all know it’s mainly true) because Audi/BMW drivers love to show their flash cars off but when it comes to paying for stuff in the countryside they’ll do anything to avoid paying. Same thing happens at trail centres – £5 to pay for a days entertainment and they rock up in a £30k car with £10k if bikes on the top but wil park on or near an access road rather than pay.

You mean the lower structure was unable to provide any resistance? None at all?

Of course it provided resistance, but it was so minimal in its effect it may as well be none. Certainly wouldn’t be enough to show any visible signs of deceleration.

You don’t need to spend a couple of hundred quid when certified foam or silicon protectors do the job, around £20 fo protectors that still allow the wearer to hear detail, which is what I wear.

I’d rather wear something designed for the job which were a pleasure to use. Especially for kids, if they are learning electric instruments where they might be using monitors it’s just best to teach them best practice early on. If all you are doing is going to gigs the cheap ones might be fine but when playing you really need to invest more. You can destroy a kids (or adults) hearing in milliseconds with some bad feedback, it just isn’t worth the risk. I don’t think I’ve ever seen my mate not have his in ears in when he’s anywhere near a stage or mixing/monitor desk.

I have a friend who is a guitarist and pro sound engineer and event producer. His tiny kids are going to be going to gigs as soon as they are able, his absolute golden rule is ear protection. You can’t spend too much money buying him some proper custom in-ear monitors which can be used as ear protection too.

I experimented once seeing how cheaply I could live. £6,000 per annum covered it.

    😯

If your idea of cheap is £16.43 a day then I don’t think you’re qualified to answer the OP!

They look like some cheap casual shoes you’d see for sale in Tkmxx or Sainsbury’s or similar. They are not cycling shoes in any way.

New radiators are very cheap, I wouldn’t bother repairing one. Have a look at screwfix, it’s where we bought all our new ones.

I have a really basic Dremel copy with no fancy extras but even though mine is quite small I wouldn’t want to do delicate engraving with it so I reckon the flexi adapter would be a great thing to have. Other than that as long as it has the facility to change the cutting head quickly (it’s a proper faff with mine with a manual chuck and you change the cutting bits quite often) anything should be fine.

Someone else might have experience with some of the fancy extras though.

Hmmmm. Might be a failing expansion vessel, probably worth testing it. When was the last time system was flushed and refilled? Might be some corrosion build up?

Lots of reasons why it might increase in pressure.

Unless there is some specialist need I can’t see why you’d use a broker.

I email them to say I wasn’t happy and that everything looked like a rough second hand piece and they simply were not bothered at all.

This is why I use PayPal whenever I can to pay for stuff nowadays as you can raise a dispute through them and you can’t get fobbed off by a crap company returns or customer service department.

wrightyson – the EA would be concerned, report it and STW’s response to them. Or just send the evidence of zero response from STW to OFWAT directly

Ea not bothered either as it was on private land.

It’s not in the EA’s remit to control discharges to foul sewer, only if it’s being discharged to surface water or ground water. So it’s not a case of not being bothered, they simply don’t deal with that sort of thing.

It’s a matter between the people discharging and the water company only. It might be the case that the local STW (sewage treatment works) is not under stress from that extra discharge (either from type or quantity) so dealing with it is way down their lists of priorities.

You would probably need a specific legal entity. This is a registered company or individual. To identify an individual you’d need a full name and possibly address. However if there is any indication there might be some issue (such as 2 people with same name at same address, possibly quite common) then you might need date of birth as well to properly identify who you have your action against.

Claim form N1 guidance (form used for small claims court) notes says you need “full address including postcode, full name including title (where known)” in one section (page 1) and on page 2 under the heading “defendants name and address” says “title, full names, address and post code”. So slightly different advice on the same form (N1A) but in my experience (of prosecuting people and businesses in a professional capacity) I would struggle to get a case through without a full name.

Up to you, 800 feedback and about 5 negative/neutral in 25+ years.

Being as it started in the UK in 1999 (18 years ago maths fans) that’s quite an achievement. Are you the founder of eBay or something?

Feedback 612, 14 years, zero negs for me, in case you were wondering. 5 issues is quite a few, and it doesn’t show any sellers who were unhappy with you as a seller can’t leave a neg.

    Even for a latent fault?

Who on earth uses the phrase “latent fault”? You sound like you’re trying to use legalspeak it’s making you sound like a bit of a plonker. 😉

Even if there was a fault with the item or it was mis described you had the chance to check it when you collected it. Makes no different who collected on your behalf.

I’ll ask again, have you provided feedback?

MIL – “How’s the washing coming on?”
Me – “Oh, I’ve brought in the stuff that was dry and left some damp stuff on the line for a bit”
“Aye, but how’s it coming on?”
(confused) “Er, I’ve brought some in and left some out”
“Aye but it cannae be dry”
“Well, I only brought the dry stuff in (smiling nervously)”
“Aye but it’s NAE DRY – IT CANNAE BE!”
    “I did check it prett…”
“IT’S NAE DRY – THAT’D BE IMPOSSIBLE. I’M NAE ARGUIN’ ABOOT THIS!”

“Ok, check it for yourself and if you don’t think its dry you can put it back on the line. Thanks for being concerned”

    Then walk away……

Be overly nice (not sarcastic) but put the ball back in their court, make the only solution to her problem an action she has to do herself.

“Meanwhile, if you were part of the workforce, you had to enter the building walking down a circular staircase into an underground corridor with a grey floor and white walls; it felt like you were entering some Orwellian film. You’d then walk back up another circular staircase into the middle of the building, to your workstation.

“I hated walking through the corridor, so instead I would walk along the grass verge, then cross the inner road and enter through the race bay where the trucks were parked.

“I was spotted doing this by the constantly watched bank of CCTV monitors in the basement and sent an email warning me that if I did not revert to using the prescribed route into the office I would face ‘an internal examination’. Crikey.”

When I removed a supporting wall between kitchen/dining room we got some cracks in the plaster in the wall above. However these are only hairline cracks which can be filled in quite easily and they haven’t got any bigger in the last 6 months. You have to expect some settlement in the wall above, no matter how well it is supported before the beam goes in their will be some movement, even if its small.

If the wall above is a bit sketchy anyway those issues are going to be magnified somewhat which is where you are now.

In my opinion, if you are getting work done at the moment and you’re planning to stay in the house for a while get it done correctly now, as you’ll probably going to have to sort it out at some point anyway. Patching up and making do is never the best solution.

I struggled to wheel spin in slush my rear wheel drive automatic turbo petrol car with Michelin CC tyres on.

There was some sort of test in a magazine once which in summary said 2 sets of tyres changed for summer and winter use is best, next best is winter tyres all year round, worst is summer tyres all year round.

Personally I’d have Michelin cross climates on all year round if I could choose, unless I lived a lot further north than West Yorkshire.

Have you already provided feedback for the sellers? That normally stops all future attempts at raising a dispute as it’s the final step to say “everything ok here”.

3rd item – Sorry if you bought an item and collected it (and it was 2nd hand) then it’s buyer beware, same as any other private sale. eBay is very well aligned to that particular rule in our law. Maybe get someone who knows something about what they are picking up next time so they can check it for you.

You can whinge all you like but that’s the fact of the matter. Just forget it.

We tried a tandem in SF when we went there and my wife was very keen on the idea but in practise it didn’t work. She likes to have control which was an issue but the bigger one was that she is 4’11” and she couldn’t see past me at all as she was much lower down, her only view was 90 degrees to either side. So as much as I liked the idea it wouldn’t really work for us.

I’ve bought things from a long way away and just driven to pick them up. Fuel is pretty cheap compared to train travel or couriers (well ones you can trust!). Time to get it is irrelevant really.

Picked my Genesis TDF from West London. It’s what I wanted, yes it was a 7hr round trip but that was cheaper than a courier in fuel and it was safer in my car.

What are you doing wrong to get 3 people trying to “do you over” at the same time? One is normal, 2 is rotten bad luck, 3 sounds very weird indeed.

    newrobdob

I reckon they should just limit the amount of fuel they can use drastically and some basic dimensions of the car restricted. Then nothing else is limited. Then we’d reallt see who can make the super cars of the future.
