Okay, a bit more of the picture…I do British Military Fitness – have been in the top group for a while so am fitter than average. I can bosh out many sit ups of all varieties for extended periods of time. However, yes, I think I’m apple shaped (!) and tend to put weight on around my middle. (Genetically, both my parent aren’t small) I know its about diet, and calories out vs calories in, and think I try and adhere to these principles more often than not.

About the lower intensity exercise – I can’t help feeling that if I’m not sweating, its not worth it – I actually get frustrated by lower intensity work. That said, I do have a roadbike so will get out on it more often.

Next…just been on the Myprotein website and am thinking about supplements to help aid weightloss. Thoughts?

TimP don’t do it! Souless, commuter-ville with nothing there. Lived there for 3 years and would never go back. No decent pubs in town, all pretty naff bars for the London-bound commuters. Definitely Lewes, or have you thought about Hurstpierpoint? Nice little village on the outskirts of Burgess Hill, close to Hassocks station…

Some of us are beginners, others have a fair bit of experience but don’t think many of us are bothered about crazy off-piste stuff…

Can anyone help? Looking for a cheap deal (okay as cheap as it gets) to somewhere in Europe the week before Christmas for around 10 people – preferably chalet, half board, etc etc. Any recommendations of places/companies to try?

The activities that take place in schools are chosen for a number of reasons – group size, funding available for equipment and facilities, specialism of staff, facilities available, student preference etc. We offer students at my school the opportunity to have input into their own curriculum – they can choose from loads of activities such as mountain biking, aerobics, badminton, weight lifting, and all the team sports. The large majority of students still tend to choose team sports rather than individual activities though.
In the Labour days, there was the huge obesity agenda which meant that schools were meant to offer activities that encouraged lifelong participation. The current agenda is the School Games – where all schools are encouraged to take place in a massive national competition structure. Great idea for all those kids who hate team sports, are always the last to be picked, and are totally put off by the idea of sport, right? Good one…

All good thanks TSY, all good. Persevere with the dating thing, I’ve managed to find myself a fairly normal, non-psycho bike rider for now! And if I can just offer one piece of advice, Bravohotel8er, choose those first date shoes very, very carefully…

This is such a good thread – very insightful and reinforces my feeling that I am SO glad to be female!

+1 for TSY. I’m able to tell if I definitely DON’T want to see someone again, but there are some good actors out there who can tell you lots of what you want to hear initially…

Serious? well, I’m on date number 4 tomorrow…we’ve done politics and even religion.
The site I’m on shows when someone you’ve messaged last logged on though which could be a bit distressing if its still happening after tomorrow, right? 😕

Another question…when is an appropriate time to find out if the other person is multiple dating? Are we talking after 3,6 dates, or what?

    newgal

Maybe. I’ve tried it once or twice and just end up getting slightly confused over which conversations I’ve already had and with whom!

Sure – we could arrange it so that your entire harem could go together! 😛

Serious note though…is it the done thing to be dating more than one person at once?! I just dunno…

Absolutely, positively, DO NOT do zorbing. Can confirm its definitely vomit inducing. The 2 trains idea is brilliant though! ice skating?

All this “active” dating must be costing a fortune…

forgive me, I’m new to this site and not sure if butting in on others’ thread is bad etiquette – but anyway…

I’ve been in a situation once where I so badly wanted it to be love, because it fitted with the time of life I was at – all up for the whole getting settled” thing, house, marriage, kids etc – but it took my BF at the time to point out to me that he felt we were headed in different directions before I could accept that it wasn’t love that I was in – more the idea of being in love and all it represents. Surely its far worse to try and force love than to not love at all – at least you’re being honest with yourself. Its often difficult in society to be single too – sometimes I feel like I should rush it to try and fit in. Also difficult to find someone that floats my boat enough!
Internet dating – trying it at the moment, but you’re all right, its far too easy to write people off because they aren’t ticking every single box…

Well see, petesgaff; I’ve always been lucky enough to have my very own personal bike mechanic in the past – but I’m feeling its now time to put my very own Haynes manual to good use….unless you’re offering?!
