Their web site seems to be suggest changes are afoot.

In the meantime have you looked at Skratch Labs? They’re sugar concentration formula is based on a similar notion. You can get it from Sigma Sport.

    https://www.skratchlabs.com

I also noticed last week OTE Sport in the UK average their drinks mix as PH neutral so again may be based on a similar theory to OSMO.

I don’t think it’s that bad. ENDURO mag gave it best in test so it seems it has some potential. Would you mind how it looked if you had more fun riding it or it made you faster?

@matther01 – there sure is an art to it. Even with a track pump i’ve struggled in the past so glad I have the Airshot but you do pay a premium for it.

My bike has the same wheels. I needed Stans conversion kit to take them tubeless. You need the rim tape to seal them. I think the Racesports will be fine though.

I have Mavic Crossmax on my other bike and they were truly tubeless, no rim tape required.

@PeterPoddy – I’ll ask the shop but thing is I did get the manuals for the Reverb.

@BoardinBob – Thanks for the URL but none of those links are user manuals, the only one the titled user manual just tells you how to use the maxle axle.

@Nickdavies – Thanks the for the advice, that’s what I’ve basically done to get started. I have been mountain biking for a few years so did know where to start but I think the lack of basic information is baffling. I’ve only used Fox shocks up until now. I did see an article from a Rockshox employe the other way stating 90% of full suspension bikes are not setup correctly, Not surprising if they don’t supply basic information.

I posted this on another thread yesterday, some might find it useful.

A note on intervals, most people in their 30’s and older will struggle to maintain a program of multiple interval session each week for more than 6-8 weeks. You do need to take break. See the Time Crunched Cyclist book for more info.

Nope, Singetrack Premium user. Just wondered who knew about this, it was only announced earlier in the week. I think it’s quite cool

    Thanks for the info everyone.

I’m going to leave the deposit as I appreciate the LBS perspective (no demo days until March next year) so they have to cover their risk. I wouldn’t buy a new car without a test ride and the same really applies to a new bike for me. My last bike was from Canyon and they have a 30 day return policy of with full refund which gave peace of mind. On this occasion if I truly don’t like the feel of the bike I’ll be out of pocket by close to £400. The LBS website does suggest they would get me on another bike if that was the case so will make further enquireries tomorrow.

I assume that if the bike is free of defects then my right to return for full refund is not an option.

29er 120mm seems to be the sweet spot for all day riding just might not be as much fun to chuck about compared to a 27.5″ bike. Decisions, decisions.

@ben98 – Spearfish looks great but Uk distribution for Salsa a bit iffy. Raleigh supposed to be picking this up but not much supply available.

@Clink – Having raced Marathon in the past and been off the scene for a while I was trying not to succumb to my competitive nature again so want a more playful bike than a dedicated Marathon machine. Having said that, the new Trek Top Fuel is very tempting but with only 100mm travel might not be so much fun on the descents.

@Rickos – Yes, sorry it is a broad question, I want my cake and eat it to! I had been looking at the new Trek Fuel EX 29er or the Focus Spine (27.5), both 120mm travel but was looking for more inspiration. Had always been a Specialised fan but just not take with their latest range. Ta

@yossarian – Lacking a helicopter I’ll be going up first but I am more of a natural climber than descender. :-)

Most newer Poweline adapters will run far faster than your fibre broadband speed so won’t be a network bottleneck unless you’ll be moving a lot of data around on your LAN.

I have a strong prescription so proper sunglasses lenses are not a goer for me, Oakley only support up to -7. However, I did opt for Transition lenses to great effect on my latest pair of specs. They work a treat, a £100 ‘upgrade’ at Vision Express.

I’ve been using the beat since Beta1 came out. Most notable improvements for me are:

    1. Vastly improved network performance over WiFi and support for wider range of routers. They’ve backed out the network stack they introduced in Yosemite and reinstalled the original OSX stack. This ‘upgrade’ alone is worth the upgrade (same applies to iOS9).
    2. Split screen ala Windows 7. Being able to put to windows side by side is an excellent feature. Something I use on my work Windows PC all the time so now a similar feature is available on OSX is a real boon for me.
    3. Improved Spotlight search and use of natural search terms, ‘files i worked on last week’

    @Paddy,

Good idea, I’ll do that. I’m torn between Focus and Trek. By all accounts Trek customer service and warranty responses are excellent.

Trek have replied to all of my emails and social media posts same day. They don’t sell direct either.

    @Tom

No, i’ve been trying to get a response from them for over two weeks. They ignore Facebook posts and don’t reply to emails sent to them. I genuinely love the look of the new Spine but complete radio silence from then is worrying. The fact they had porn on their FB all day today just suggests to me they don’t take customer service seriously.

Thanks for the feedback and the info about the demo day. I’ve also found out Trek will be at the Cycle Show in Birmingham the week before so might be tempted to pay that a visit.

I seem to be erring towards the Fuel EX which might be more fun on the trail and not much slower on a marathon course (eyeing up the Kielder 101 next year). I found some calculations that suggest each additional pound of weight would cost 18 seconds on a 1 hour hill climb. If the equation is correct then over a 6 hour event you might loose 3-4 minutes on the EX compared to the Top Fuel but I’d probably descend faster on the EX so there might not be a lot in it at the end of the day. All depends if I decide to get competitive again (won the Kielder 50 miler in my Masters class).

I’m also waiting for Canyon to finish announcing their 2016 bikes, a LUX or a Nerve might be a possibility.

    Cheers.

The old adage is that if the symptoms are above the neck then training should be possible but at an easy pace. Symptoms below the neck including chest issues and aches are a sure sign to rest otherwise you’ll simply weaken your immune system further and prolong your illness.

Agree with the others, it’s all about the kind of riding and/or racing you’ll be doing. I think for many XC racers 29ers are the way to go but if you’re riding for fun at trail centres the added suspension travel of 26″ bikes may have the edge in terms of the entertainment stakes.

I’d always read it was the 26″ bikes that were better in tighter situations but actually found my 29er (Canyon CF SLX) to be superior to my 26 full suspension bike (Zesty 514). It’s very nimble and responsive in the tight stuff with great balance.

I think it was Mountain Bike UK last month that ran a comparison between 26, 27.5 and 29 bikes. The 29″ bikes were the fastest over their test course with the 27.5″ bikes a close second. The 26″ were noticeably slower. As with all these decisions it’s best to test ride the bike in question on the terrain you plan to ride.

Here you go £5 off on orders over £30. Use this code: 0ADF7B25DD9

I used the code ‘WIGGLEEXTRA10’ last week to get 10% off orders over £50 but think its expired now.

My bike was stolen two weeks ago. Set up alerts on Gumtree and a match came up. Told the Police who recovered my bike. #result
