My Norco sight (27.5) is set up with a boost plus/29 fork. It does both fine but I’ve mainly used it with a 27.5×2.4 non plus wheel very successfully. In fact I prefer the handling to a proper 27.5 fork

Thanks yet again everyone – Had a great time. Parked at Mallards Pike (busy!) and had lunch at Beechenhurst which is a really nice spot for it (apart from the climb to it which the kids moaned about).

The family trail is more undulating than I was expecting – nothing to cause a real issue but I can imagine that some less fit people might find the draggy climbs quite long.

    Definely going to go again

Thanks again. Yes I figure it’ll be busy but shouldn’t be a big problem on family trails

Having another look at the map, if we Park at Mallards Pike lake and then go from there, we could stop at Beechenhurst for food around half way round. Does that sound practical?

    Thanks for all the replies.

I’m not expecting the family trail to be too thrilling in itself but I think we can dip in and out of other trails from it so will probably aim for that.

Think we’ll probably aim for food at Beechenhurst – maybe part way round the trail if that works from a parking perspective

Varium – does it pack up small? Looks like it would be bulky

I’ve had a pakajak – good jacket but not stretchy

Close fitting is good but I tend to wear my current one in lots of different conditions meaning that sometimes like today, I’m in just a jersey with it over while other times I’ve got a two layers underneath including a thermal top. Trying to get something to fit both.

For the rear I prefer the spacers all on the disc side to keep the cassette where it’s supposed to be.

For the front I do one each side

We had the same issue on our big conservatory.

We got a guardian roof as a complete replacement for the existing pvc one – it’s about a foot thick with a lot of insulation. It’s transformed the room so now it’s maybe 1 cooler/hotter than the rest of the house. It did cost a lot more than the figures being mentioned above but I think it was well worth it.

I would have concerns as mentioned about the weight of snow though. We have a beam across it for that reason. We didn’t really want it there for aesthetic reasons but they were absolutely clear that it was necessary though of course with the amount of insulation ours had it will inherently weight a fair bit.

If you want a cheap option…

My cx50 chainset is for sale in the classifieds – 36/50 or 36/46

It would be a direct swap for your existing chainset

That chainset (with the 50 as it goes) was on my cx (for riding, not racing)and with an 11-32 cassette was as low as I found I needed

    IIRC

    1. It looked shit
    2. It actually wouldn’t make all that much difference

Shimano. As above they both function well but shimano cleats are better as you don’t walk on the part that engages with the pedal so they don’t wear

Officially you should replace the olive. In reality, if you’re careful you can reuse them

Yeah, shame. Looked like it might come alive in the last 10 laps but didn’t quite happen. Surprised at the relative lack of pace from Ferrari though they screwed up their strategy with Leclerc losing points

Ref the article about Williams, I read another article which I can’t find now but the summary was that Williams had screwed up by becoming a business with leaders who were in it for the money/expecting it to be like a traditional business rather than running it like a race team. The suggestion was that some of the top figures in the last 10 years or so were very poorly chosen and that Claire Williams while capable was not the right person to be heading up a racing team – her brother who does the heritage Williams work supposedly would have been better. Also that Paddy Lowe was effectively hamstrung by the team structure and hence couldn’t turn things round.

Of course it could be someone with an axe to grind with the benefit of hindsight but a lot of it rang true.

Scrabs view of it – well informed:

Interference from the commercial side on the engineering side

Kubica has been the quicker Williams this weekend FWIW. Still slow though.

I’ve done it the other way round – 29 back, 27.5 front – basically as that’s what fork I had spare to fit in place of a 29er rigid fork when I wanted to add some suspension to a particular hardtail. Worked fine fwiw

I’ve also done 27.5 rear with 27.5 plus (which is almost 29er size) on the front. That actually worked really well

Still here and posting very occasionally now but changed names a while back. Glad to hear you’re well Juan – iirc I checked the name for my son wasn’t going to be silly in French about 10 years ago so thanks for that ;)

I’ve used a soft bag for several years without issue but there is always a bit of a gamble. Always pack assuming that the baggage handlers will throw it around.

I’ve also used cardboard bike boxes sourced from my lbs. They worked fine too though I tended to have to flatten them to fit in a car and then rebuild / tape them together to catch the return flight.

I still have my 95 Kilauea. Currently unbuilt up in the attic but may build it up again one day. Rides great but worth noting that the rear tyre clearance isn’t great – a 2.0 is the limit and a fairly close fit even at that.

WTO rules only apply where no trade deal is in place so if you have the EU, Nafta, tpp or whatever in place you can have different rules for specific countries.

Thanks for the sky one tip. That’s this weekend sorted at least. Will probably just stick with c4 for the rest

So, options for watching the race live? I don’t want to commit to two years of sky f1 channel even at a tenner a month so…?

    – C4 non live (except for the British gp)
    – Online (legal)?

RS are perfectly happy with plain air. Unless fox shocks are much more prone to corrosion I can’t see it being an issue.

Lol. Can’t disagree but it’s great once you’ve worked out the basics.

Happy to explain – I’ve got the xbox version on the way as it goes…

FWIW there are tutorials on pc.

I’ve been playing elite dangerous – very good but not without some glitches / issues but the scale and depth more than make up for it.

    Any other ED players here?

Circus monkey hubs (the ones with the doily pattern flanges) are cheap and reasonably light. I’ve had them on my cx and now road wheels for over 5 years without issue.

It’s great otherwise… Will be using it on the road. Not massively breathable (well, it’s more breathable now…) and it’s fairly heavy but then so am I…

    Lol.

It shows up in the mtb filters and on wiggle it’s marked as suitable for mtbing.
