It’s lath, unless you are turning a new ceiling.

Thanks for that Neil, bloody expensive in shops though! (can only find at screwfix)

Leyland SDM stock it at better prices if there’s one near you, I buy online where it’s cheaper than that for 5Kg but minimum £50 order for free shipping.

    Toupret Interior filler.

Sticks like poo to a blanket, easy to shape and sand, takes any paint.

No thanks, I’ll just skip your posts if you obviously have nothing useful to add.

I think if you say something like “fair cop, guv” then they walk you to the van, if you want a scrap they sit on you until you have been trussed up like an animal.

Not sure, I think there was some vaguety on the numbers, possibly a bit of CIH going on.

£600K is what it costs to build from an architects layout drawings with the rest made up as you go along.

If you want MDF, coloured or otherwise, with really crisp edge details then you need to use a router and clean sharp bits. A decent face mask is essential, eye protection if you are sensitive and good to have dust extraction too.

Best to paint or lacquer with short pile rollers, with a very thin first coat and build up with a number of thin coats to get a good finish. You can spray it too, but you need a clean area to work in.

You can also get plywood faced with phenolic, laminate or various veneers.

Fine for in stock items, might be worth a phone call to check availability if there are any special order items.

DPD were good for me until a recent change of driver, the new one just stops outside the house in the middle of lane, no attempt to pull over and within the zig zags of a zebra crossing. He then told me he would let me carry the parcels from the van to the house as they were heavy.

Parcelforce new driver too, he looks like Shaft with the hair, the shades, the flairs and the walk. So far he has a less than 50% success rate of standing in front of the correct door, from a choice of…………. two doors.

EDIT – I mean’t to add that my Yodel deliveries are good too.

As above, no air gaps as you are then creating a rot trap.

I suggest you buy the gun grade foam, and a gun, and a can of the cleaner although it’s just an acetone aerosol. It’s very easy to control the volume compared to the hand held which are either on or off only. Bed the boards in foam in a similar way to laying tiles.

If there is no air then no moisture or oxygen either. Most of the boats I have worked on over the last twenty years insulated this way are still floating. The one that sank wasn’t due to foam corrosion.

Depending on what you need to protect, generally two barriers are better than one. I would consider reinforcing the gate with better locks, hinges, fixings and more protection too, as in plates fitted over the top or a skin of plywood with galvanised sheet over the top.

Strengthen the wooden door too, an extra skin of plywood each side and galvanised sheet again on the outer face, better fixings, straps from frame to wall and another lock.

If everyone leaves their bike racks on it will give the police a better idea of where to organise the stake outs.

Use the 25mm Celotex but bond in place with expanding foam, then there is no air to metal contact. You can also fill the structural sections sections too.

Buy a box online, should be enough for a van. LINK

Your roof section will need to be much deeper, even without the cantilever, best to double check if you can achieve the floor levels that you want.

I always carry at a basic kit at the minimum.

    Melonlin dressings in various sizes.
Pre-injection wipes with IPA are good for cleaning around wounds and cleaning hands after a mechanical.
Micropore tape, with duct tape if needed over the top.
Steri-strips, although it is hard to sort your own face out without a mirror.

A tyre lever and some tape would make a thumb splint.

If the routing is good it sounds like you are not getting enough initial tension on the cable. Try some small molegrips or pliers on the end of the inner and give it a little bit more tension while you nip up the nut.

I think given the performance of the cars, what’s really required to make it interesting is John Cleland in a Vauxhall Cavalier Electra, right in the middle of the pack.

    Come on, keep up NW.
