If both type of hubs are Shimano and you have Shimano rotors then it should work, any other option then you are in the lap of the gods.

Should have been called SCRAM really.

They all get two letters each and a much better name.

Even if you’ve only got soapy water –
Lather up, get the rims wet all round, go off do something else, repeat a couple of times, come back and finish the job after the soaking period.

I only opened the thread due to the author, hoping for a good piece of humour.

To be honest you have let me down, you’ve let us all down but most of all, you’ve let yourself down. 😀

If the mortar is softish, it’s easy to pick apart with hammer and bolster.

If it’s a good stiff mix and well bonded then use a machine. Even a SDS plus drill with a chisel will make a big difference and get it down quicker.

I’d definitely be looking to get my money back unless, as above, it will be trimmed a decent way past the star nut.

    Thanks Mikeys.

To anyone else, like me as a complete novice, I think the BWY site recommended by Zippykona is excellent.

Thanks again both of you, that’s the second vote for Iyengar. I’ll definitely have a look on the BWY site too.

Thanks Scotroutes, are there any more photos or a link?

I assumed they are steel tube but if so, it looks like the tube is filled with something, I’m not sure how these racks are constructed. Are they thick wall or solid aluminium at the bend?

What solid tyre for roots, mud and leaf litter?

Very few issues with running maxxis tubeless, I use a EXO HR 2 on the front, EXO Ardent rear. Maxxis Exo Beavers front and rear on the rigid/SS winter bike.

The EXO is an optional extra on the HD tyres, don’t get confused with the Exception which is a light-weight carcass XC race version.

It sounds like it might be worth pulling the mechanism out when you have a chance.

If you do, as above from Chickenman, just be careful to align the parts and mindful of not over tightening screws.

    Just a bump for Hora.

    Anywhere in Manchester for this?

Mavic Alpine in the past and now Alpine XL which work for me. They have a very deep cleat recess and too much tread on the sole to fully engage on shimano M647 pedals with the SPD and platform.

Maybe try swapping to the M647 pedal, they are pretty cheap these days, but obviously a bit bigger and heavier than the trail pedals.

I swapped to using pull saws for fine work a long time back.

Screwfix do Irwin for fairly cheap, which are okay, and a more expensive brand which I have not used.

I now use Vaughan from Folkstone Fixings: http://www.ffx.co.uk

The handle fits any of the blades and they do a coarse cut blade too.

As above, try some lube all over, I’ve fitted plenty of traditional locks but not much experience of multi-points.

Sorry, but it sounds like the mechanism is a bit fuggered.

Why did you change the cylinder in the first place?

    neilwheel

The cylinder is hard to turn out of the door?

    neilwheel

Assuming it’s a euro cylinder, have you over tightened the fixing screw?
That can be enough to distort the cylinder body and jam up the mechanism.

Thanks for the above. Now I know that it is Hatha that I should be looking for.

My concentration is very poor at the moment so I’ve found trying to read up on Yoga on the net confusing. I understand that the spiritual side is an integral part and the meditation is very important to me. I’ve tried the Youtube route and it’s just not working for me right now.

I’m going to attend the class next week and arrive earlier and offer to sweep the floor if it’s in the same state as it was yesterday. The class is specifically for people with mental health issues, obviously, it needs to run at a speed that everyone is capable of. I was by far the fittest and strongest in the class, and I feel that I will want to progress at a faster rate quite soon.

There was one very anxious person there who was talking to the instructor for roughly 1/4 to a 1/3 of the hour session which was a little disruptive for the class IMO. If I get to know her a bit better then I might talk to her about whether she is get counselling or other treatment, but am a bit reluctant to take on other peoples problems at the moment.

My main issue was the noise, the venue is a busy community centre and obviously well used resource. There was constant door slamming, main door buzzer, phone ringing and loud conversations being overheard in the room. Far from ideal, but for me specifically, I have acute hearing and am also hyper-sensitive to sound and found it extremely hard to concentrate on the instructor and filter out the background noise.

Thanks again to all who have responded.

Personally I have used Abus for years for both mine and the GF commuter bikes.

Both have allen key security skewers, stainless steel torx security screws for stem and seatpost clamp.

You need to remove some material from the heads of the pan head security screws if they are recessed, as on most bike parts. The head form is a larger diameter to the standard ones used for bikes

Abus mini-U lock 40 for general use but obviously only fits cycle racks and smaller diameter sign posts, which are plenty around here.
I also have a Abus Granit steel-o-flex 1000 for out all day/night, doubling up locks and fits two bikes together on a rack or if I think I will need to use a lampost, and also fits round my waist.

    I hope you’ve had a good day.

I went to Yoga today for the first time, I know you’ve got a lot on at home but have a think about it.

Thanks Tinners, I’ve got a Mac so I’ll look into that. My flexibility is something I really need to work on and I will resist the urge to get competitive, hopefully.

Northwind, the university that I used to attend is pretty close, thanks for the tip. I used to do some wudang too, excellent teacher Dave (?) in East Oxford, back in the mid-90s.

Thanks Jim, I’ll look that up. The teacher today was excellent and she normally works from home so I’ll speak to her next time about what the cost and availability is for those sessions.

Simons – I appreciate what you’re saying and true, there’s lots of classes near but I’m not working on paying jobs due to the mental health problems. I just can’t afford the rates charged locally.

    Thanks Dab.

    You learn something new everyday.

I imagine they are as effective as an adjustable and used with due care should be fine, you get what you pay for. Weigh up the cost difference and will you use the adjustable one any other time.

Ultimately, IMO and without any experience of the adjustable version, it depends on how much torque you need to apply, how often and what are the implications of a rounded fixing.

Good to know things are a little more balanced for you both.

I tried Yoga for the first time today, it seems to be a good option.
Maybe suggest that if she hasn’t tried it already?

OP have you even tried typing “replacing chainrings on a triple chainset” in to Youtube search and looking at the results?

Might be worth a quick look in the lowers as there has definitely been mention recently of new Rockshox forks being assembled bone dry.
