That’s the first thing I would try. It’s also worth checking the gear cable isn’t frayed somewhere inside the shifter as this can cause similar problems.

so if marmalade is made from the fruit, juice and pulp of oranges boiled in sugar and water, why are all the best selling brands even allowed to be called marmalade? They are mainly made from glucose/fructose syrup and contain only 20% fruit.

you took a picture of the crap cookie section of Gregs at the end of the day by the look of it. Right next to that there should have been a stand of cream cakes, custard slices and other goodies.

    It isn’t Greggs.

crispy – it’s a good question and I don’t have the answer. old OS maps aren’t much help. The ROW officer seems to think the answers would lie in Inclosure Awards.

On a related note do you know if there has ever been an attempt to reclassify the meeting of the grains footpath as it’s a bridleway on the forest side of the parish boundary, and looks like it used to be a bridleway on historic maps?

Ha- I spoke to the RoW officer about this who kinda begged me not to start that one, but I am very tempted. Of course it’s a BW! Anyway – she said “just ride it anyway….”

Here is a map from Durham County Council:

Why have they been banned? And where from?
Sawe their reunion tour a few years ago, with Phil Jupitus and Ade Edmondson filling in (quite well actually) for the sadly deceased Viv Stanshall. Marvellous.

Get a a mass (non) trespass organised. Let them try an take you to court and the burden of proof will be on them.

I like that idea very much.

I did it the other way round, petrol in the diesel. It was my own car too and I’d had it for 6 years. Anyway, it cost me £200 to drain it and of course the cost of a tank of fuel. Dammit.

All said and done the Ohlins can still be dialed into a less than optimum by way of going for the harder or softer setting in the wrong environment on the compression particularly but crucially the adjustment is at a very rough guess about 15% off optimum compared with say 80% possibility found on many shocks. This is a massive benefit for any level of rider.

If I were being charitable, I would say this man has some dyslexia issues. Otherwise I would suggest he is illiterate.

why should you be able to ride/walk all over my family farm where we are trying to make a living disturbing livestock and then having to worry about people straying into areas where crop spraying etc is going on.

Oh good grief. Are landowners still grinding out this stuff? Right to Roam is not about allowing people to “ride/walk all over” etc etc. Have you read any of the posts in this thread?

Muslim at the north pole is currently well and truly ****.

A throwaway joke that actually strikes right at the heart of religion.
You see, it proves that such texts are not the word of God, but the inventions of men who knew nothing of North Poles, equinoxes etc.
If God had commanded that we fast from sunrise to sunset he could have inserted a clause like this:
“This doesn’t apply to Eskimos or people living at the North Pole as it would be impractical.”
For centuries Muslim scholars would have puzzled and argued over these strange words. What is an eskimo? What is a North Pole? Then one day someone would find out and all would be revealed and we would all praise God for his wisdom and grace in revealing his divine self.

Why not try it in the opposite direction? The incentive to get away from Sunderland as fast as possible would certainly help your cause.

I assume that, in your scenario, lorry 1 doesn’t have a brake pedal?

In my scenario, I’m cr@pping myself and looking for the first exit.
I agree entirely that I am within my rights to ride on that road, and drivers should be aware that I might be there and drive accordingly. However, I think I would find it of little comfort, if I were killed, that I was in the right.

I don’t know the road in question, but in my experience of long-distance touring, the most dangerous and frightening roads are 2-lane dual carriageways with central barriers and no hard shoulder. Imagine a lorry in the nearside lane, being passed in lane 2 by another lorry. Now imagine this combination bearing down on you, cycling along in lane 1. Where is lorry 1 going to go? Lorry 2 can’t move out any further because of the central barrier.
On the other hand, if the road has a hard shoulder it can be used as a cycle lane and life is much safer if not significantly more pleasant.

Well, the usual trick is to clamp the tool in a bench vice, lower the wheel down onto it and turn the wheel. If the tool is already distorting though, even that may not be enough.

“It’s all lit up like a Christmas conker!” :D That’s entered the language in our house.
Mondays is good at the moment: “Bleak Expectations” at 11.30am and ISIHAC at 6.30.
The Castle, though – pretty poor fare.

Well, I watched them on the ipad this morning, with the sound plugged through the HiFi and I thought they were great. Tight as a nat’s chuff. They should be good with 50 years’ rehearsal behind them. Good to see Mick Taylor join them too.
