Have a read of this and then consider whether things are better, worse or about the same…

Always amazes me when customer walks in with a 20 year old bike still with original parts, worn out shifters & expects them to work like they did the day they bought it after we’ve replaced the inner cable (they wouldn’t stump up for an outer too)

“I don’t want to spend too much on it, mind. It only cost me £25…”

Out-and-back to the lighthouse, from wherever you want to start, is splendid.

Smokey jo is out of date. It is possible to claim 20 yera usage by bicycle under the CROW Act. You would have a claim for Restricted Byway.

The Le Havre and Caen ferry crossings are long and expensive. And unless things have improved in the last few years, the le havre ferry was like a cattle boat.

Hi vickypea, the issue with not being able to clear your mind when you are trying to sleep…try learning a poem or a bit of Shakespeare or anything you like really. When you are trying to sleep, go over it in your mind, trying to remember as much if it as you can. I usually fall asleep somewhere around the third line.

My mum is from Germany and she insisted on lighting real candles on the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. I miss that, and the terrifying anticipation of the whole house burning to the ground, with all our presents.

I’ve accidentally rediscovered the joy of bimble since busting my shoulder back in July. Still not confident it’s fixed enough to risk anything rough, I have returned to my spiritual home, Bimbledon Common.
I have added some purpose by taking on the project of identifying unrecorded or misrecorded rights of way in the county, with a view to getting them added to the definitive map. This has resulted in some first rate pootles into nooks and crannies I never knew existed.
The most radical part of today’s bimble involved following the line of an old waggonway, adding an industrial heritage twist.
