I followed torsoinalake link and bought a couple of seals from Bikegoo (£1.99 and 60p postage I think) – they arrived today and just fitted and bled them up – and at last its all good again! The Avid bleed kit isn’t very good either though!

Esher-Shore – I’ll probably follow your suggestion should this happen again, I’ve had Shimanos on my other bike (Kona) for years now without any issues (or bleeding maintenance) whatsoever
