A couple of suggestions as I see it

    1. Rent a bike, and move the forks across.
    2. See if you can rent just some forks.
    3. Ask around for some second hand ones out there
    4. Buy the forks
    5. Risk severe injury..not an option in my eyes
    6. Find some cheap ones here and get them sent UPS tomorrow, there for Wednesday if you pay enough.

Sell it to the guy you made the contract with in ebays eyes, otherwise negative rating etc will likely follow.

Did not ring them as got some from my LBS in the end but thought they would be useful to have as spares. I will not use them again, you are free to risk it but be warned…

I had to go over £500, but its a build for my wife and wanted it to be lightweight and have a new chainset and rear cassette.

Used – Gary Fisher HiFi Carbon Frame with RP23, seat post and clamp – £160
    Used – Rockshox Reba – £110
New – Deore LX Chainset with bottom bracket – £50
    New – SLX Rear Mech – £40
    New – Cassette – £40
New – cheap stem and handlebar from CRC – £15ish
    Used – Deore shifters – £10
    Used – Bontrager RXL Wheelset – £100
Used – tyres, saddle & pedals – had them in the garage so cheated a bit here
    Used – SRAM XO Brakes – £70
    Used – Deore front mech – £5ish

Total around £600 + gear cables etc which for 120mm full suspension bike weighing around 25/26lbs is a bit of a bargain 🙂

Did the jump a few times and the last time I went a bit further then expected and gave myself a scare. think i will pop down to the lbs and try some on for size, seems sensible given the smashing my face in alternative that I sense might happen

    I cant get past this:

I have tried putting my feet over the end of the fork and pulling with pliers without success !

I have also tried separating the red knob away with a chisel, again without success !

My friend definitely wants a full suspension, so unfortunately the hard tail route does not work .

I think second hand is definitely a better route, even with that great sale offer.

The trek seems like a fair price. He is around 5ft 10, so might be on the big size?

Not a fan of Konas, no real reason.

A trance or a stumpjumper sounds like a good shout, will have to see what they go for.

It seems a bike with around 120mm travel, reba and slx drivetrain is not possible for this price?

I will compare the bolts I bought with the ones from silverfish and confirm whether they would work if shoulder was 30mm

    neiloxford

Those bolts were the wrong size in the end from that thread you mention. They came through as 40mm on the shoulder length. They would have worked great otherwise. I went with silverfish after this set back

Having ridden about 15 boards over the years, can honestly say this is the board to get:

No changes and more awards this year:

Been using it the last 2 years, amazing !

Its a mid wide with 25.8 waist, should work with your size feet, but worth trying it if possible.

I would recommend the 161.5, although I am on the 157 at 6ft and 90kg.

I have the horsepower, but honestly think it makes no difference.

    Another good review here:

I found (the new version of) nitromors painfully slow. I would advise getting it bead blasted, then nitromors the remaining bits with wire wool. see how it goes, never too late to find a bead blaster mid week and finish for riding next weekend 🙂

These bushings will be a good upgrade if you have the cash

    http://www.tftunedshox.com/Catalogue/PUSH/PUSH/PUSH-Parts/Turner-Pivot-Bushings-2

I have not purchased them, but good feedback here:

    http://forums.mtbr.com/turner/push-linkage-bushings-829697.html

Just be aware that all new bushings take a good amount of time to bed in, and the difference is very noticeable once bed in from what I have read.

I find the back lower DW Link bushings to be a little tighter than the others but that has happened with 2 kits, so think it might be normal.

One thing for sure you will enjoy the frame. Been out on mine 3 times now, and the frames are spot on 🙂

As for cleaning bushings. Very easy 🙂

P.S WTF was the previous owner thinking with that stem. Can only think they were 7ft tall.

The shock looks too short, so maybe another shock required (or put some air in the one you have), which could mean new gear cables and brake hose lengths?

    So 69.1 with 515mm A-C and 68.1 with 535mm A-C

    I understand the Fox Float 140 is 515mm A-C

    I think the Revelation 150 are 528mm A-C

I have no comparison as I have no access to 150mm forks and I only took it for a quick spin yesterday. I will know more after a dry weekend of cycling (hope I do not have to wait long !). I would also be interested in what Vortex thinks.

Yeah I did very well on the frame. I spotted a rear triangle with rockers etc on ebay for $70 plus shipping, so gambled that I would be able to pick up a front triangle. Took a couple of months to find, but somebody on here had a spare, and thus a whole frame was born. Took around 3 months from start to finish, but worth it 🙂
